this anime and I loved seeing a culture I could relate to for once. The music was superb, taking influences from great Brazilian artists like João Gilberto and the scenery was beautiful. Hatchin and Machiko's relationship are what really had me hooked and almost on the verge of tears at times because of their amazing bond. They would risk their lives for each other several times in the story and they needed each other, although they didn't know it or didn't want to admit at times. I felt like the ending wrapped their lives up well, and left enough out so that if they ever want to make a sequel they have plenty of material. It wasn't the ending that I enjoyed the most, but the journey on there. They love each other and show it in ways that I can relate to with my family. Instead of affection, we show love by arguing and making up afterwards just like Michiko and Hatchin. A beautiful anime I could relate to being Hispanic and one that everyone should watch.
