Comedy and Action? YES! YES! YES!

Spy X Family blew my expectations when I first saw the trailer since I was big, big fan of the manga. At first I thought to lower my expectations on this show since I’ll be disappointed after seeing the first episode but when I saw two of the famous studio that is loved, I can’t handle the happiness inside when it was first announced. It is a breathe of fresh air from this season, when this ... season have isekai, generic rom-coms, and Over the top action shows. What will you hate on this show when you have 3 characters trying their best to be a family while keeping their deep secrets from each other. I enjoyed how Wit and Cloverworks captured how I felt when I first read the manga and It is definitely a show that you’ll get invested in characters instead of the story

The story on the other hand, is really simple that everyone can enjoy. It’s about a spy, an esper, and an assassin trying their best to keep their secrets to each other and try their best to be a normal family. I don’t wanna say anything much since the story isn’t that special but the characters is what is bringing this show to life.


Now for the characters, the character is what brought this show to life. Without our 3 main character, this show wouldn’t be as good as it is now. So lets go for our main man Twilight. Twilight is our spy who wants to know the plans of a man named Donovan Desmond in order to save both nations. In order to know Desmond’s plan, he is tasked to create a make-believe family in order to get to Desmond and stop his plans to making another World War. Loid is such a fun character to watch, doing his best to teach Anya and his best being a good dad to Anya in which he succeed in that task. Let’s go to our very popular waifu of the season, Yor Briar. Yor Briar is an office clerk during the morning and an assassin during the night. Yor is what you expect, a gorgeous, ass-kicking, shit at cooking. Wait, shit at cooking? That’s the first time I’ve watched a female character to be bad at cooking. But to be honest, when I first saw her in both manga and anime, I fell in love immediately with her character. She’s just adorable to watch, doing her best to be a keep their marriage a secret with Loid while being a great mom to Anya. Oh Anya, Anya, what will we do without you. So who is Anya? Anya is Anya, she’s a god who solos every favorite character of yours which sucks by the way. But joking aside, Anya is the adoptive daughter of Loid and Yor. Doing her own antics and that faces of hers which the fans fell in love with. Sometimes, she carries the whole episode and sometimes there are really good scenes between the 3. Overall, the cast are such a pleasure to watch, they are enjoyable, fun and sometimes hilarious. Maybe, you’ll have a family like these 3 but I know you won’t so just keep dreaming.

Now for the animation and soundtrack. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. That soundtrack is such a bop, like such a banger. Especially for that main theme, it gives me the vibes of some old spy films. They really wanted really wanted to make this show be mainstream which they achieved since it’s always been talked about in social media. Mixed Nuts at first was pretty meh, but it totally grew on me. While Kigeki is such a chill Ending, I totally love Kigeki instead of Mixed Nuts. While both are good, Kigeki just got something that makes you groove. The animation for this show is great, while there are CGI here and there, but overall it’s good. Like that dodgeball scene in Episode 10, it was so much better than the manga because of the visuals and the animation. And that whole Episode 6 blew my mind, they really went out with this show, like I’m speechless when I first saw the episode and screaming like a little bitch. Art is pretty great too, they captured the character’s design like I expected since Cloverworks and Wit can nail the art pretty well.

Spy X Family is a show that everyone that can enjoy, every motherless, fatherless and parentless weebs can jump like an idiot and feel like they’ll dream family like this show but like I said, it will not happen. The characters, the animation and soundtrack is pretty well done and my enjoyment went off the charts everytime I watch an episode of this show every Sunday. Feels like I’ll get a familial love like Anya had with both Loid and Yor.

Overall, it’s a 9/10. Can’t wait for the 2nd cour of this show with our dog, Bond.

Love the things that you want to do and never be afraid of showing them off. That's the main theme for Sono Bisque Doll.

If you like Slice of Life, Romance, and a pinch of Fanservice then this is the show for you. Sono Bisque Doll is about Gojou, a socially awkward teenager that was traumatized by a childhood incident about his Hina dolls and has a dream of becoming a Hina doll craftsman. Marin Kitagawa, a popular classmate, discovers him crafting doll clothes in the school's sewing room one day during his first semester. Marin, ... who has been wanting to cosplay for a time and has seen Gojou's sewing skills, asks him to make a costume for a character from a video game she enjoys. Despite the fact that Gojou has never made a costume for a human, he is impressed by Marin's determination and decides to construct one for her.

And that's the story for Sono Bisque Doll. It's really straightforward and tons of fun. The story also has romance, wholesomeness, and passion for the things you adore. While its story isn't that anything special, you'll still enjoy a lot of things about this anime.

Now for the story:
As I said, it isn't anything special. It's your typical Loner MC and Popular Heroine but the guy is into Hina Dolls which is lovely in my opinion. And there's a bit of cosplaying which is the hobby of Marin, The Heroine of the story. And that's about it.

Now for the characters:
Oh boy, I really like most of the characters in the show but there's a character that I really love, and no that's not Marin. And it's Wakana Gojou. So let's start with Gojou.

Wakana Gojou is your typical Loner, socially awkward MC but there's a twist, he's into Hina Dolls. Gojou wanted to be a Hina Doll craftsman and that's a big plus for me. He also got pulled into cosplaying because of Marin, but he mostly makes clothes for her and eventually really liked making clothes since he can use those skills to become a great Hina Doll craftsman. I know I'm being a bit biased, but that's how I really love Gojou.

Our, story's Heroine, Marin Kitagawa. Marin Kitagawa is your local gyaru, she's popular, cute, pretty, and most of all, a people's person. Marin Kitagawa is hiding a secret, and that is being an otaku. Gyaru and Otaku? Does that even work? Yes, it does work. Most anime/manga doesn't use these two common traits together so it's a fresh breath to see these two trait work really well.

The side characters:
Shinju and Sajuna, both of them are sisters that don't really add anything to the story but the two of them are really well-liked so I guess that's it. They're really good at cosplaying especially Shinju, which cosplays loli-type characters because of her build. Also both of them are really cute andddddd both have the opposite types of bodies, it's a common anime troupe now.
Gojou's Grandpa is really a great grandpa, he raised Gojou on his own and made Gojou a boy he is now today. He is also the reason why Gojou wanted to be a Hina Doll craftsman. Thank you Gojou's Grandpa for raising a kid like him.

For the visuals or the art:
Cloverworks never disappoint in art and that's for sure. Now they have the upcoming Spy X Family to animate, I'm sure they'll capture the art like how they did with their works in the past like Horimiya for example. They captured the feel and the art of the manga like I'm watching every panel of it. They also improved some scenes like the measurement scene. Also that beach scene, the art looks really weird but the animation was gorgeous. They really captured how Marin and Gojou are having fun so much when they are together.

There's a lot to improve but overall, I think Cloverworks delivers what they intended to do. As a manga reader, it really meets my expectations even though my expectation were really, really, really low. A lot of average anime fans will enjoy this show for how straightforward, fun, and wholesome the show is. It might be one of those "waifu bait" and "loser meets popular girl" anime but giving it a doesn't hurt.

8/10 for Gojou and the gang.
