My first reaction: not enjoyable and a waist of time.
The mix between 2d and 3d is a real letdown. This would be better if they just stuck with one animation style. It is so distracting in some shots and looks really cheap in other shots llke when the kids are riding bikes and skateboarding. It is a real shame because the 2d animation is pretty good. I would like to see more of it like in the background and 100% of the characters... Stop with the spiral 3d staircase shot... It looks like video game graphics from 2001...

Quick thoughts were wow! What a tear jerker! Right up there with Angel Beats! Amazing show!
I think everything was a 10 across the board. This is not an anime that is lacking in an area. I very enjoyable yet sad story. I loved the art style and the characters. The music in the opening and ending are great. The music used in the story to entice emotion was spot on! Anaru is best girl for sure! ^.- I just want to add I watched this dubbed. It is a very well done dub. I tend to prefer dubs personally, though I will go back and rewatch a series ...

For anyone that has watched the original this remake is horrible. I don't think anyone was asking for this. It just seems like a total cash grab.
The 3d animation looks good in environment and some pokemon but not all. The human characters look so bad. In my opinion remaking this is disrespectful to the original artists and animation studio. If you want to watch Mewtwo Strikes Back just watch the original. I do not believe this is the Mewtwo Strikes Back for the current generation. It is just an abomination that never should have been made. The animation of the human characters reminds me of the miss ...

This show looked interesting. But two minutes in I noticed something was off. I looked up it's Wiki and it is made in Japan. But, the artwork is trash. This is not anime. There are many animes I want to watch and I don't have time for one that looks like this.
The art looks bland and flat. There was very minimal shading and the eyes just looked strange. It reminded me of Chinese or Korean art which just isn't anime. After reading some of the other reviews I would have to agree that netflix was just trying to westernize the show making it turn out ... |
