The strong point of the series are the great, loveable set of characters and both series abilities to portray... Well, life in a way. You empathise with almost every character at some point and become invested in them. Gokusen is of course not a sports anime but it has the same feel as Hajime no Ippo, the perfectly balanced mix of wacky/genuine and even some mysterious characters with some moments of seriousness. I wanted to write this recommendation because while I was watching Hajime no Ippo, thoughts of Gokusen kept popping up in my head, because of the likeness in "feeling". They are both kind of feel good-ish while still being "real". Gokusen is a real hidden gem and while Hajime no Ippo is also a gem, I found it while browsing the top anime! I recommend both for some action packed fights while still maintaining realistic characters that you'll care about. You won't be disappointed!
