Looking past the CGI, what lies beneath is an endearing story of a reincarnated person as a spider in a world full of plots and schemes. And honestly, all the plotting and scheming part is the worst part of the story. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Let's start from the most important factor for many

ART: 4/10
Art and animation-wise, it's decent. Passable.
Has that overly saturated isekai color palette which I find obnoxious but hey the character designs are pretty good. Honestly, One Punch Man season 2 had better animation with the fights. Many dramatic scenes had me laughing at how awkwardly they were animated. ... So many awkward zoom-ins on low-resolution drawings and re-used scenes. poorly tracked still drawings on CGI dragons. But somehow, the quality added to my enjoyment. I laughed my ass off as I was pulled out of the dramatic tension of scenes with the janky animation and if you can get over it you'll enjoy it more.

STORY:8/10
Story-wise I believe this is what Slime isekai could've been. We spend most of our time with our protagonist as she explores the cgi labyrinth as she discovers how dangerous this world is and how she can survive and grow stronger. Compare that to Slime Tensei where after a couple episodes he's already left the cave and begins on world peace. The story here isn't something to marvel at, at times it becomes painstakingly boring as it switches to our protagonist's other classmates who also got reincarnated. I just wanted to skip it all and go back to our energetic spider protagonist. But yeah, the parts with our protagonist are always a blast and feel satisfying. Every time we think she has the upper hand in a fight the enemy always has a trick up their sleeves. A great example would be in one of the later fights with her and the mother spider. When Kumoko thinks she's got mother cornered, she rushes in without thinking and ends up getting trapped by her webs. We had the assumption that just because her stats were half of what they were that she wouldn't prepare a counterattack and I think that's what makes the parts with our protagonist great. She is constantly challenged both physically and mentally. She experiences trauma and has to cope with it and use that fear to get stronger. Just like another popular web-slinging arachnid hero, no matter how many times she's beaten. She keeps getting up.


SOUND: 5/10
While the Openings and ending themes are great. I also put into consideration the sound design. Some scenes just don't have the right feel due to the sound effects used/

CHARACTER: 6/10
I rated the story 8/0 for the parts with Kumoko, and with the characters I rated it 6/10 cause I couldn't care less for all the other cast. When the elf sensei started talking about her past I literally lowered the volume and opened up discord to pass time until she was done with her monologue. All the other characters just aren't interesting. They can be but with how well developed our protagonist is. Everyone just pales in comparison. There's never a dull moment with our protagonist while when we switch to the others I just wanna die of how boring they are. There's so much possible stories they could've told with the whole reincarnation part to make their characters more interesting. They could've made Shun feel imposter syndrome due to the high amount of pressure and responsibility put on he as he is given the title of hero. Or maybe the red hair genderbent girl. They could've made things interesting with her questioning his/her gender and sexuality. Sure it could be controversial but I think it'd be interesting and maybe even comedic to ask questions like "Is it gay if I got reincarnated as a girl with the mind of a dude?". That'd make them more interesting characters and make them feels real-er in my opinion as in this case, they'd be reacting to their own circumstances brought by their reincarnation. What about Fei? Sure she feels guilty and thinks this is her punishment for treating our protagonist poorly but couldn't we get more characterization than that? I'd be freaking the fuck out if I suddenly became a dragon. It's just disappointing seeing such interesting prompts for characterization not used that much. Everyone just falls down to generic tropes and cliche isekai characters.

I might've shit on the characters but eh I did enjoy my time. Even if I found a lot of mistakes. Past the weak side characters and animation issues. I enjoyed my time.

So overall: 8/10
If u looking for a good isekai that's more interesting than others then give this a shot.

A masterpiece, I don't get why people rated this a 5, did you even read the title? You get to see cute anime girls make cute disgusted faces as they show you their underwear, what else did you expect? An overarching narrative with great character depth and development that gives characters reasoning behind their actions and why they chose to show their underwear? Uh no, it's for sad weebs like me and it's perfect. Like, why are you even disappointed, the title summarizes what you're gonna see for the rest of the runtime, did you even read, though in the manga, the POV we viewers ... view from actually has a character which is kinda disappointing that they did not adapt it 100% faithfully but still, its cute anime girls looking disgusted at you while they show you their underwear, and it's not just one type of underwear, each frame is meticulously illustrated to give the most details to the underwear, the details on the fabric, god ok I'm just writing random shit cause MAL told me to make it longer so I can post this dogshit of a review, basically. If you want to get shamed on by anime girls for asking them to show you their panties then what are you waiting for,

I really wanted to enjoy this show. I found the premise of it really fun for a harem where it was about studying and getting better at a specific subject as that' relatable for students but I guess the story forgot that for the sake of mindless generic rom-com situations. If the story had actual progression and character development I would've liked it.

At the beginning of season one, I found the premise really good. It had a nice initial hook but for some reason, the story stopped being interesting and it devolved into something very generic.
I can't really pinpoint why I started disliking ... this series but I'm just more disappointed at it at this point. I think the openings of both seasons is a valid enough explanation for me. I loved season one's opening because it had a kind of narrative. The visuals are really nice and the part where they're just studying is really nice for some reason. Everyday things such as studying is something that's always at the background for most animes set in high school so I thought maybe this anime would bring it to the forefront and make it interesting. In season two the amazing visuals are gone for the opening credits. Sure there are some good implementations of the credits but nothing more. It became generic.

Basically I'm disappointed that this series became generic and wish that it took the characters seriously and gave them depth I guess

It's fine but it was a tad bit too obnoxious.
I can't pinpoint it but this show just doesn't really try to make itself stand out.
I liked that it didn't make itself a generic trashy show and had an actual plot ,an otaku wanting to make a game.
The only redeeming quality was the animation and Kato, she's the only character who isn't an established archetype but just a normal person. That's why people who watch this show find her to be the best girl.
This show clearly knows of the tropes it plays with and gives advice but it doesn't use it and go ... cliche route.

There are some instances where this show tried but I just couldn't feel anything for the characters and the series in general. I did smile a few times but I didn't really end this series feeling satisfied.

Keep in mind that I have been watching nothing but harem anime the past week so my taste might be a bit saturated or just tired of harem but yeah.

The fanservice was decent and the characters were designed and animated well. I liked the consistency of quality in the show and the OP animation showcased some nice character sakuga I guess?
Although in the later episodes the fanservice gets a bit too much as if they just gave up and said "fck it put as many tits in it" This series was clearly self-aware but it did barely anything with it.
Doing the wrong thing more doesn't make it the right thing.

I wouldn't recommend this anime nor say don't watch it but just don't get your hopes up.
I hope the second season tries a bit more and so does the movie.

I might as well take a break from harem anime in general
