Its torture porn not much else to be said. where an interesting revenge plot could have been a torture porn rape power fantasy is left in its place. if you like drawn out scenes of sexual assault and torture you'll love this for sure. antagonists who exist solely to be more disgusting than the last there isn't anything really interesting. all in all what could have been an interesting subversion of its genre boils down to look how gross and degenerate these characters can be and what horrible things be done to them. if someone tells you this is in their top 10 you should ... definitely look at them with a side eye.

Junji ito must have done some atrocious things in another life because he seems to be cursed to never get a good animated adaptation.
With how amazing the 1st episode is it almost feels like some kind of cruel joke showing us a glimpse into an alternate reality where we could have had an amazing adaptation. Animation aside the pacing takes a massive swirl down the shitter past episode 1 even with the bad animation a few more episodes could have done it some justice. Watching this show spiral down the drain is kind of fitting in a way, maybe if i hadn't already read the ... manga i could have gotten more enjoyment out of this but having done so i was thoroughly disappointed. read the manga and check out episode one and pretend its a special anniversary ova or something.
