Komi can't communicate and apparently so can't its writers. Something that wants to be a rom-com ends up feeling more like a slice of life. Since this is a character driven show, you'd think that the characters would be interesting. You'd be mistaken. The only thing that Tadano has going for him is his level headedness and patience to deal with Komi, while Komi is .... pretty? I get the impression that if she wasn't so pretty, she would be treated more like Tomoko from Watamote.

In a landscape where "I am 15 and this is deep" shounen anime thrives, Chainsaw Man has its goofy simplistic stupid MC who I would struggle to call endearing. It works! He's got chainsaws for hands! It's got boobs! Girls!! GORE!!! It's everything I would have wanted in an anime if I was a 15 year old boy, the writer shows that he knows his target audience.
