"Shouldn't good writing be good always?"
Writing was always perfect and amazing. I don't know which writing you are talking about? There is literally zero flaws in Re:Zero writing, that's one of reason why it is masterpiece.

It is novel adaptation. Novels have narrative explains character inner thoughts but you can't explain it in the anime. So Re:Zero is not a brain-off anime it is opposite and one of best does that. To fully understand Re:Zero you have to understand what each character thinking.

If you can write what you found about flaws in script, there is none. But still want to hear you out.

Lastly, I’ll address Re: Zero’s story progression, which is either insanely masterful or just insane.

"İnsanely Masterful" Yes every scene of re:zero is amazingly written, you can't understand that depth without Watching Season 2 and re-watching Season 1.

"the show ends with one layup after another"
I mean you just watched Prologue of Re:Zero. There will be still 7-8 More Seasons.

If you want to me debunk your review i can with future arc spoilers. Petelguese is definetely not one-dimensional lol.

Pretty detailed review on Eva you got there, fam. You're not the only one who disliked the final episodes, but there's no denying that Eva remains as a classic or infamous after all these past decades mainly because of them. I've mentioned the details of those episodes quite a few times here, so I'll just copy paste the text.

"there's a pretty self-explanatory reason as to why the final episodes, specifically 25th and 26th were "lackluster" or in your case, disappointing. During the production of the last episodes, a big sarin gas attack had occured that killed/injured dozens of people, which ultimately led to the decline of production value and budget saved for the staff of Gainax.

I'm not here to defend eva for that aspect at all, if anything, I appreciated those final episodes the most out of the show. But that's just me obviously.
I'm only here to inform you this: do watch end of evangelion. It will provide more closure to the story of the original, and it really focuses on explaining most of:

Not gonna argue if the ending of the movie will give you more satisfying conclusion to the plot or not. But it's still something you should definitely expecience."

As for shinji's character, yeah I won't blame you...

If you don't like the characters as they are you may not enjoy it. For what it's worth, the characters grow very subtly. If you're not paying attention you'll miss some of the slow development.

I will tell you that the pace of the second season is incredibly slow but the content is better. The pace is deliberate and once you reach the final act you'll understand why it's dragged out the way it is. The more time you spend with the cast, the closer to home the ending will hit.

The second season has some of my favorite OPs, but the moe aspects from the first are pretty much the same. I find the characters to be pretty grounded, and I know some viewers like to look at Yui as a girl on the spectrum that is able to function through the support of her friends and music. It all depends on your perspective I guess. I think the ending is worth seeing the series through, if you aren't satisfied with it once it's over I can completely understand. For me it kind of accurately portrayed my first band and how we goofed off too much and didn't get a lot done musically.

edit:
I should also mention that given the source material what KyoAni did with K-On! is kind of incredible. I read the original 4-koma manga and the anime is about 80% original content, which is kind of amazing due to the effort and dedication that went into making it. This number isn't even made up, as a redditor sat down and went through both page by page and scene for scene.

Simply put, K-On! was a labor of love and it immortalized Kyoto Animation's respect in the industry.

Hi there, I'm kind of passionate about K-On! because it started my journey into moe as a genre, and as a fellow musician I'd like to offer a counter perspective!
K-On! isn't meant to be an anime about a band, but about highschoolers that happen to be in a band. It's far and large regarded as one of the best coming of age stories in the medium and if you think you can handle sitting through the second season I believe your opinion may be swayed.
Many young musicians start their journey in a high school band that far too often takes itself too seriously but doesn't practice enough and gets sidetracked by just hanging out, which is an experience I shared and identified with.

If you're looking specifically for musicians in anime I suggest Beck, Kids on the Slope, and Euphonium. Hopefully this is enough to convince you from one musician to another to give K-On! a fair shake, but if not, those suggestions are the least I can leave you.
