Shigatsu and Bakuman feature the story of very interesting and well made characters as they develop in some kind of art. For Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, you'll accompany Arima Kousei, a "former" prodigy in the art of playing piano and his new beautiful friend (and the girlfriend of his best friend) Miyazono Kaori that gets him to play again with her. As for Bakuman, you'll follow the life of Moritaka Mashiro and his new Best Friend, Akito Takagi, as he pushes him into the world of drawing manga. You'll see in both animes main characters that have given up on their childhood dreams (Which both characters had inherited from diseased family members) and a new, unexpected friendship got them to try it again. While they go on this beautiful journey of self-knowledge and development of their very own forms of art, they get to know their rivals and the development of friendships unrelated to their art is also shown, as well as the fact that the main characters from both animes rely on their new friends to push their art to the limit, and all of these developments are shown with such brilliance you just can't wait to see the next episode. Watching Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso made me feel the same excitement that came from Bakuman, and that certainly made me very happy as I missed this excitement ever since I finished it.
