Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans
add

Though not very obvious at first glance, the similarities between these series are endless. Code Geass has a political motive and Iron-Blooded Orphans feature teenagers who try to create a place they can call home. To achieve their goals, they form groups mainly consisting of outlaws with no place to go. They start out with little power but rapidly rise as they make their way toward their destination. From both anime you can expect big mecha's battling it out for high stakes in fluid top notch animation.

Soukou Kihei Votoms
add

Though Votoms is aimed at a more mature audience then Gundam, both are about civilizations that have been at war for many years and are now looking to further evolve humans in order to gain the upper hand. Whether they call them Newtypes (Mobile Suit Gundam) or Perfect Soldiers (Soukou Kihei Votoms), both series present characters who have a naturally or genetically enhanced battle potential compared to normal humans. They have heightened senses and are thus feared on the battlefield by other pilots. Both series are very character driven and have a lot of development for especially the protagonists.

Versailles no Bara

...then you might like
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu
add

Completely different plotwise but similar in nature. LoGH is a fictional space opera while Rose of Versailles is about the French Revolution. Yet both have a political background and deal with corruption and the consequences thereof in their own setting. There's a great cast of both main and side characters who develop from fairly unknown to people with massive influence. Moreover, the relationship between Reinhard and Kircheis is similar to that of Oscar and André.

Koukaku Kidoutai: Stand Alone Complex

...then you might like
Psycho-Pass
add

The Ghost in the Shell and Psycho-Pass franchises are both futuristic, cyberpunk police series with a philosophical nature. They take the point of view of the law enforcement in a world where technology and artificial intelligence is much more advanced and has become an integral part in people's daily lives. They often show the worst of such a world, and leave it up to you whether or not that's what's best for mankind. Ghost in the Shell is very character driven while Psycho-Pass focusses more on the main plot, but if you like one the other should definitely interest you aswell.

Memories
add

This is a recommendation for the first part of Memories - Magnetic Rose. These stories are set in completely different settings, but both deal with hallucinations and desire to the point where the main character will find it difficult to seperate illusions from reality. Both stories are written by the late Satoshi Kon.

...then you might like
Toaru Hikuushi e no Tsuioku
add

They may not have a very similar feel to one another, with The Sky Crawlers being more slow paced and philosophical, but both movies are visually stunning and are about pilots with great dogfights.

If you liked
Nodame Cantabile
add
...then you might like
Chihayafuru
add

While Nodame Cantabile is about classical music and Chihayafuru is about karuta, both of them revolve around people following a passion most people would find odd nowadays. They are a bit slow paced, but feature very solid character development. Chihayafuru doesn't have the same amount of romance as Nodame Cantabile does, but it's there. And the female leads are just as clueless.

Both are very twisted episodic horror stories adapted from a novel. While Fetish is about a boy who has a strong liking to injured women, Goth is about a boy who fantasizes about committing murders in gruesome ways and a girl who likes to see people suffer before they die.
