Knew about this manga for years but never got around to reading it, but when I watched the first couple of episodes of the anime I decided to pick it up. And wow must I say, this is one of the best, worst manga's I've ever read. The start is pretty engaging with small parts of story sprinkled in randomly that feels quite out of place? I don't know how to explain it but it feels as if parts of backstory were just thrown in for the sake of it. The arc where Kafka becomes a recruit is INCREDIBLY boring, he is a character that

honestly could've been written by chat gpt, and his lack of this character really felt like this was a treck to get through. The only redeeming parts of this I found were the side characters growing as they at least have some sort of depth to them. As you come to the most recent chapters (and why I decided to write this in the first place) the writing becomes so bad to the point I actually had to read it a couple times over to make sure I was seeing it correctly. It is honestly some of the most stale, basic and unimaginary writing I've had the displeasure of reading in a while. We basically were given the same fight FOUR times as well, all to show that they reached a new power. Now like this this doesn't seem too bad, but when your reading it they are one after another and it becomes so stale and boring that by the end of this 25 chapter saga is over you cant wait to see something else.
However, there are definitely some redeeming factors, the fight scenes are really well illustrated and give you a real sense of scale and destruction, with your average "I have to get stronger" sprinkled around a couple of them (especially in the more recent chapters) which is to be expected from a manga like this. I believe this manga could revitalise itself if the story was to be worked on and given more depth, as right now, I'm seeing a lot of high highs and extremely low lows, but if you want something easy to read with giant monsters and a (sometimes) overpowered mc this is perfect for you.
