Well. First of all: this ONE is a disappointment. And word ONE is marked for ONE special reason. A-1. That explains everything because of ONE simple rule: If you see A-1 as a studio, but the name of the show is not Shinsekai Yori -- That show is approximately 101% screwed.
Before I shall start my review, there is two details to go: 1)Yes. I am big fan of Fate series. 2)I've checked out manga before watching.
And now things get started.
1.Story
If you read the manga then you might already knew about specific storyline In Fate/apocrypha. If not -- lemme explain that briefly: a little bit fast&chaotic.

And word fast is not as fast as We can see in show itself. I mean there is a lot of moments in storyline that was cut-off and a lot of additional material were added to a mix with ~3-times speed-up. The main idea evaporates because action is so intense and unstoppable that you can't sense usual Fate atmosphere. All you see is bunch of random sketches with a bunch of plot holes which gives you a signal like Giant Flashy Colourful Sign "THERE IS SOMETHING MISSING, M8. TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT BY YOURSELF".
tl;dr:A Lot Of Plot Holes.
2.Art
Art and drawing isn't the main problem. It's just mediocre. The real problem are bad animation. I mean some problems with guy who get all the budget, but don't want to pay a proper price for a proper work. And by word proper I mean Good or better. But no-no-no! Money well spent and viewers will eat anything, cuz look: we've got Fate in our title. To be more concrete about the problem -- animations are cheap but with old methods of reaching not bad effect for lower price. A lots LOTS of frames are drawn horribly and some camera angle rotations can cause not motion sickness but discomfort for sure. Also the colour palette is dark(sometimes Unnecessarily dark). For sure that is a plus for an atmosphere of growing tension(Just like in Fate/Zero). But there is one more thing, that ruins this atmosphere...
tl;dr:Cheap mediocre animations.
3.Sound
...Two words: FACE PALM. Just try to watch first 3 episodes and pay attention to Action and Musical Theme on background. You will get what I'm saying. Some themes are Just. Doesn't. Fit The Damn Place! And "some" is not equal to "few". But equal to "Frequently". Opening are not that bad but not good neither. Ending was insta-skipped right after one try of watching. And that is not because of sound only. (Sorry for wrong place) But because of content inside. Opening itself is ~70% of meaningless fight scenes. Literally MeaningLess. Sound design of battles are awful. Sounds that weapons are making are giving me reason to turn down the volume(Don't try. Horror inside.). But still there is bright side:CVs did some nice work for characters. But wait. Isn't the characters next?
tl;dr:Messy Sound Design.
4.Characters
And now there is time to say that!

The manga was better at it.(Yet still not that good)
No, guys there is no joke there. In show there was literally almost no character development. But what do you want from 25 episodes for Over(!) 25 characters?
Just not enough time for all of them. No reasons were revealed(Almost none of them. Remember how character's reasons were shown in any Fate show except Ilya-series. Feel the difference now?) Main idea spins just around Mordred, Astolfo, Jeanne, Fran., Siegfried&sieg. And? Where is Other servants? NOT ENOUGH TIME AND SPACE FOR THEM. Not Enough. We still got some characters to understand but no. Manga showed a little bit more but still not enough. Yet still it has its bright side. There is some wise thoughts and words inside. Not many, but we have them. I personally watching anything in search of food for my mind. And I found some down there. Even if obvious, but still: This part of Fate series had smallest impact.
Because there is no time to actually get interested in some character due to bad development. Sadly.
tl;dr:Fail In Char.Dev.
Summary Time:
I should say some obvious things there. Fate Apocrypha had a potential due to interesting Idea. Idea which doubles scale of already great Franchise and even have chance to get it up to whole new level. But to perform That serious actions Anybody will strongly need 2 precious resources: Time and Mind.
A lot of them.
In 25 episodes there is no chance that idea of This Giant Scale will be fully developed and shown from all important angles.
Manga is not that great but still feels better even if there are some details from show are missing.
And of course: There is a Colossal potential in this one. Was. Before this disappointing performance.
tl;dr:Great Potential. But crappy realization.

Before I start: I watched it during night time. And yes. I played the original game.
After searching something to watch I found this anime. I will be brief here. Story: 5 Nothing new to see there If you played the game before watching. But If you haven't then there is probably nothing outstanding for horror. Art:8 The art is pretty good there. Lighting is not that bad for anime of this genre and details are nice. The main place of all storyline looks deadly in compare with game. ...

Right to theme:
1)Genre-light drama. From the very beginning i recognize chuunibyou as silly slice-of-life-comedy, and i was completely wrong. Somewhere from the middle we can see some drama with little pieces of comedy and romance. And well, maybe it's wrong, but i see more drama side than any other. 2)Characters-6. I got strange feeling, that i saw some characters somewhere, but they are have that strange essence, that we like or not in any characters - soul. But only soul isn't enough to make good characters that will remain in memory. 3)Graphics/drawing/art-8. Before we see anything other, we will meet graphical part. The drawing was pretty good.
