I know that some people might think that a 49/50 point rating is way too high, but hear me out.
Clannad is definitely the best drama/alternate reality anime that debuted last fall (2007) season. Once again, Key Studios presents us with a mysterious, sad, but warm and touching storyline. The characters are highly original and imaginative, and nothing is ever too far fetched to believe in. The highly coordinated voice-acting and animation display an extremely solid and nice audiovisual flow. (The work obviously uses a much higher rate of frames per second than most other anime, and this makes the anime incredibly beautiful.

took a hold in a place in my heart, and they all seemed to come alive. Watching them go to school, maybe working, playing, or just chatting, was very interesting. Even something as simple as that touched me; simply, simply, simply because they were very nice, kind, warm, and humorous characters.
The introduction scene dragged me into the story better than any other I've ever watched, with Furukawa Nagisa-san talking to herself, and Okazaki Tomoya-kun entering. And they walk steadily but surely, up along the long, steep hill. Most action anime just portray a guy dying, about to be killed, or already dead; then they run the opening song.
All in all, this was one of the best that I could ask for. For a time I thought that I wouldn't like drama anime. Now, I think otherwise. I give Clannad a serious 49/50, one point off just because one or two characters seemed to not hold much personality. However, all the other characters had more character development than almost any other anime.
The soundtrack is simply amazing, precisely coordinated with the animation and voice-acting.
