When I first read about Shinryaku! Ika Musume, I became incredibly interested. It was great: an original premise, incredbile art, and seemingly exciting characters made it seem like an above average show. Thankfully, the actual anime did not disappoint completely.
Story:
There is not much wrong with the story, but there is also not much amazing. The whole "I want revenge against humans because of pollution" thing is never really taken farther than a several jokes an episode. Each episode simply covers Squid Girl discovering new things with comedic outcomes which isn't that bad.
Art:
Other than characters, this is probably the most outstanding aspect of this show.

Unlike most users on here, I did not watch this when I was younger. There was no nostalgia at all while I watched this: it's an actual review based upon the anime itself.
FMP! is guilty of many offenses despite hailing form the towns of "Generic City" and "Who Gives a Fuck, It'll Make Money-topia." There is not one original idea in this entire anime. And sure, you could argue that most animes don't have an original idea, but at least most accomplish something. Enough ranting, I'll actually review the aspects of the show. First ...

You know how sometimes things will be so bad they're good?
Well, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is so incredibly over-the-top, cliched, and, at some points, down right idiotic, that it's fucking great. The entire series revolves around fighting an enemy, losing to said enemy, but then, magically, finding a solution and winning! This enormous plot hole(s) is covered up with the use of some bullshit "Spiral Power." However, this all works out in its advantage. The flaws, somehow, morph into a form of complete badass-ery. The epitome of mediocrity, Hetala: Axis Powers does not have much bad, but it also does not have much good. I do not blame the show as much as myself because this is obviously a Japanese show. Their interpretation of World War II is incredibly different from ours , e.g. Italy is the coward instead of France. Nevertheless, I can only blame different cultures so far.
Hetalia suffers from long stretches of boredom. Of course, these episodes only last 5 minutes, but when the show drags on, the show drags on. There are several gems of humor ...

As of the 2 volumes I have read, K-ON! has been very enjoyable, but it is not without flaws. The art is, much like the show, beautiful; the characters and environments really pop out. Nevertheless, it suffers from a mediocre story and boring story arcs. This does not make it unreadable, though. Long story short, if you want more K-ON!, read this.

Perfect, just perfect. Seriously, FLCL is without flaw. Every aspect i.e. the music, characters, the story, etc. is detailed and thorough. All 6 episodes are able to make you think, feel emotion, and, probably most important, entertain. If you haven't seen this, go do so. Please, for your sake.
