When I first found out about Tengan Toppan Guren Lagann, I figured itd be one of those regular animes, you know, good but nothing phenomenal. Instead,I got a emotionally moving action packed comedy with amazing characters, unique and cool art, with what I conisder to be one of the best anime sound tracks ever. This anime put me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh, and made me want to go fight the most powerful force in the universe for the dake of freedom. This anime is, to be blunt, absolutely amazing.
Now, the plot is fairly complex as the idea of it takes
...
a long to to explain, but what makes it special is its such a unique idea. I have never before seen an anime with the major world basis like guren Lagann, one where men are fighting to win their freedom back from an emperor, who is beating them down to protect them. The plot allowed for epic looking fight scenes between huge Mecha, that got so big in the end they could use galaxies like throwing stars. Thats another amazing feature of the show. For all its seriousness, theres an equal amount of ridiculousness in it too. From the beast men, to Kamina and his personality, to some of random events that make no sense yet still occur. All of this blended toghether to make a gripping story.
Now, in terms of Sound and Art, I fell in love with this anime. Their soundtrack was amzing, from their openings, to their battle music, to the most inspiring song Ive ever heard in my life, "Row Row, Fight The Power". The music in the anime entranced me. Then theres the art. The art was like any other anime, until it got to the commerical picture, or there was an epic fight going on. Then it took on a very rough looking sketchy style, and even though it shouldn't have, it made it look amazing.
Now, for the highlight if this anime, its characters. You have simon, who starts as a timid kid who gains belief in himself through his encouragement and support from Kamina, who believes in him like no one else. Then there is Kamina. A ridiculous over the top character, who also happens to be the most inspiring anime character Ive ever seen. Being able go be ridiculous and funny, and the at a moments notice be the support for everyone around him, he makes everyone want to be their best. Theres Yoko, the skilled sniper who follows her own path, and is the equalizer to Kamina. Supportive and kind, she helps make Simon the amazing man he is in the end. And those are just the 3 main chracters. The list could go on for ages. Essentially, what makes this anime special is its characters, who while are ridiculous and strange, yet so awe inspiring and human at the same time.
Overal, this anime was one of the most enjoyable animes Ive ever seen, and i feel deserves the #1 spot on MAL. Its is simply, a masterpiece.

Code Geass. Perhaps the greatest anime of all time to me. This show looks, sounds, and very simply is, amazing.
Note, some small spoilers may be in here.
Story: 10
Code Geass has an incredible plot. The idea was genius, and the way the played out the story worked perfectly. They brought the right things into view at the right time, and they did it throughout the whole series. When I saw the first episode, I didn't leave my computers chair for anything besides eating, and no other anime has been able to do that for me since. It was that good.
Art: 10
Code Geass looked amazing,
...
simple as that. The world looked realistic and beautiful, and the knightmares, they were on a whole new level. Never in an anime have I seen cooler Mecha than I did in Code Geass. All of them just looked simply amazing.
Sound: 8
While the sound effects and voices in Code Geass were amazing, I find that the music was to be a little lacking. It may have just been the opening songs, but personally I found the music to be a less well done than the anime itself.
Characters: 9.5
Code Geass had some amazing characters. Lelouche was simply incredible, and all of his friends allies and enemies were great too. So I take it your now wondering why I gave it 9.5 rather than 10. 1 reason. Nina. I don't know what it was about her, but something about her just REALLY aggravates me. However, thankfully she only played a very minor role in the series. Also, as I side note, this series has who I consider one of the most entertaining anime characters of ALL time: Earl Lloyd.
Enjoyment:10
Now, This show, was one of the most enjoyable shows I have and will EVER see. It had really epic action scenes, the characters were great, and the mechs, oh the mechs were great. This show was simply amazing to me.'
Overall:10
If I could give this show a 12, I would. I believe it to be one of the greatest animes ever made. I recommend ANYONE watch it. Its that good

Infinite Stratos is probably my favourite anime of all time. Now, its certainly not the best one I have watched, but the amount of enjoyment I got out of it was unbelievable despite that. The whole series generally has a happy, jokey kinda mood, and all the characters are great, if not all that believable.
Warning: Some spoilers may be contained below
Story:7
The one thing IS was truly lacking in was a good story plot. While most animes spends maybe 7 or 8 eight episodes before letting you know who the series enemy was, IS didn't show the actual villains of the series until the second season.
...
They also used rather predictable methods to add in new characters to the plot, and 1 or 2 predictable mini plot lines. However, at the same time, you didn't see some of the things coming too you, and the story generally made you laugh due to its craziness and predictableness, making up for its short comings.
Art: 10
If there was one thing IS excelled in, it was their art. Everything in the show looked amazing, from the mechs to the school, to the nature itself. Everything had time and effort put into it, and looked great because of it.
Sound: 9
IS had a great sound track, simply put. The music matched the show wonderfully for all scenes. The only problem was, I fell there was almost too much of it. But because it was very good choices for each scene, it was not too much of an issue. Also, the opening theme song of IS is great.
Character: 8
Now, I did character as an 8 for 1 purpose: Itcha, the main protagonist. The reason? He may just be mentally retarded. While I loved every other character in the story thoroughly, Itcha drove me mad on several occasions due tot the fact that he doesn't notice ANYTHING. literally. There is at least one instance an episode where he misses something huge, and its generally involving one of the girls being in love with him. Also, another small problem the plot had was 2 of the characters didn't actually have a backstory too them. While they did most of the characters rather well, they just happened to ignore 2 of them.
Enjoyment: 10
Despite all IS's short comings, I loved this show religiously. I loved all the humor, I loved how it looked, I loved all the quirky characters, I loved how it sounded, and I loved how it played out. And the mechs just made it all better. It was one of my all time favourite watches.
Overall: 9
Overall, Is was a very good anime to me. It had a rather nice plot, but didn't develop massively until season 2. It looked and sounded great. It had a large inventory of lovable characters, if some annoying at times. And finally, it was enjoyable. Massively. All in all, I recommend this anime to ANY harem or mecha fan. And if you love both, perfect!
