I have never written a review before but something about this Anime just really made me feel like I had to share my opinion...
There have been a lot of people saying that this show is overrated and there is some that say it’s a masterpiece I can defiantly see both sides of this coin. My opinion fits somewhere among the two…
Let’s start first with the basic story surrounding Fate/ stay night, it’s about a man named Emiya, Shirou who gets caught up in an event known as the “holy grail war” in which seven magicians and their servants fight one another, sometimes to the
...
death to obtain the Holy grail, which will grant the wining master and his servant there one desire.
= ANIMATION=
The character art was a bit old school it felt like looking at an Anime created in the 90’s but is this problem? Maybe to some yes but to me it made the whole thing feels very nostalgic in a way...
Ok so this is where it takes a step from 90’s character Art to HD action the fight scenes and visuals are amazing it gets you locked in before every event in the story saying “yes this is going to be epic” I could not take my eyes of it truly a work of art, But this art starts to fade slowly towards the end of the series most likely because of budget and deadlines the artist had to meet.
It also really lost points when it comes to the filler scenes right from the start of the series most of those parts feel like they have been rushed thru and disregarded and all the affects focused on the fights among the characters...
=CHARACTER=
I can talk all day about how great these characters are and how much dept they have But in this lays a lot of the problems the characters are so good that you feel like you need more time with them a lot of their past is unexplained which makes it feel like there is to many gaps in the story.
What I really liked about this show was the servants design each of them grabbed my attention because each servant is based on a hero of legend ether good or evil there is some obvious one’s king Arthur, Hercules etc... I loved how they got ideals from all over the globe to create these characters from Japanese culture, Greek mythology and British folklore...
Emiya, Shirou is Much like any Main he starts of being weak and insecure at times almost annoying but towards the end grows into a hero that will put his life on the line not just for his friends or the one he loves but for anyone.
Saber is Shirou’s servant and the character I liked the most I believe she is the heart that carries this Anime because of her nature as a true hero to fight not only in life but even as a spirit to save her people and for fill her duty as a king. The thing about this is they do not show enough of her past like with most characters so you’re left wanting more but yet again getting less...
=SOUND=
I have only one word to describe it “beautiful” every fight scene is mirrored perfectly together it feels like you are listened to an opera the music itself brings out the determination and soul of each fighter, it truly just wraps you up and make’s you apart of the action. Some of the best works of music I’ve heard in an anime add the graphics and it’s a fantastic experience.
= STORY/ CONCLUSSION=
The story has a greatness written all over and to some it's done perfect but to me it fails in bringing out the true potential that it had which is sad because I loved a lot of things about this story the arcs where set out good and everything thing fell into place (sometimes too well)..
The plot was good even though it was not entirley original but what Anime is in this day and age they all use recycled ideas, it was very entertaining to take a back seat and watch how this tail unfolded...
In the end I really enjoyed this series, it had a mix of different genres Fantasy, romance, action and shounen just to name a few which were great, the characters are memorable to the point that you wished you knew more about them But the real thing that made this anime great was the graphics mix in with the sound the end is beautiful and something I will always remember…
I would recommend it to any Anime lover just to give it a try if you have not already who knows you might even add it to one of your all time favorites...
