**THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS**
As one of the top thinkers/leaders in my "network" or "sphere" (Close knit circle of acquaintances) this show nearly blindsided me with its realism of portraying individuals as what they truly are: means to an end (Tools). It was brutal in a way I suspect most members of the audience couldn't handle, such that they would, in an attempt to escape the reality we live in reflected in this artistic medium, likely stop watching the show. Unlike these people, who would watch with disdain and fear as the main character ACHIEVED HIS GOALS WITH THE USE OF OTHERS (Admirable), I viewed this

show with pen and paper in hand, noting down the many methods of manipulation, lying, gaslighting, and martial arts techniques so that I too could use a cast of beautiful yet altogether clueless women to carry out my bidding. I think the one characteristic of Ayanokoji that I see reflected in me is the way he thinks. Constantly analyzing, and planning. For me, my "white room" (The room where a young Ayanokoji was forged into a strategic mastermind) as a child was the special ed classroom where I was taught some of the basic yet infinitely important and well kept secrets of human interaction. I don't think my teachers knew how dangerous it would be to enable me to communicate so effectively with the common populous, or "use my words" as Mrs. Johnson would say, but in a strikingly similar fashion to Classroom of the Elite, life quickly became a game to me. And I was determined to play and win by my own rules. Of course I won't get into the specifics of anything (That would pose a huge risk to the security of my operation) but in your mind you can basically imagine the events of the anime taking place in an American public school, but I am the main character. That's right. You're reading the words of an Ayanokoji-like master manipulator right now. Fret not, I haven't tried any crazy psychological tactics on you the reader yet (None that you could ever figure out at least) so you can continue in your day-to-day pursuing your little goals. I tell you this simply so that you become more aware, and perchance view this show a little closer and begin to use the nuggets of knowledge it bestows in your own life. In truth I wish there were more out there like me, so I could have more competition. It gets lonely at the top.

**SPOILER WARNING**
Two words: wasted potential. I am greatly saddened to see the direction this show went and more saddened that I witnessed it's failure, knowing exactly what was going to happen from the start but being powerless to do anything. First, it must be acknowledged that this is fundamentally a derivative work, borrowing several concepts (the only good parts of the anime if I must confess) from other, more successful

anime. Moments such as portraying the women of the show in underwear/swimsuits (lifted from the likes of Kentaro Yabuki's To Love Ru and Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online) mark a clear understanding by the anime's creators of what makes a good show, but the failure to escalate (Lelouch forming a harem, accidental groping/intentional groping guised as accidental groping) left me with the unfortunate truth that the understanding I thought I perceived was surface level at best. I began worrying (circa episode 3 of the first season) if Western influence was limiting the story in some way. Perhaps... British influence in Japan. Ha! But seriously, Japanese cultural norms are straight up ignored in favor of more conventional television story beats. For instance, why is there no romantic development with Lelouch's sister? This is a staple in Japanese cartoons and its sad to see a show reject its roots like this. I really thought I would be able to relate to Lelouch after seeing his intellectual ability/chess prowess but the illusion was BROKEN over and over again throughout the shows duration. Again, I end with two words. Wasted potential.

I found this anime quite relatable. I don't like books as much as Mizuto does but I do watch a lot of education video form content such as Kurzgesagt and VSauce which are pretty comparable in my opinion. Quite frankly the story reminds me of the complicated relationship with my sister. refreshing to see something like that portrayed with all of its intricacies and not just "sweet home Alabama". I guess you could call it youthful indiscretion, but from the ages of 12-17 I had daily sex with my sister. yes I felt bad doing it. yes I knew it was "wrong" according to "society",

but it also felt good. part of me knew we had to stop but it was the only time I felt safe from my abusive family. My parents themselves are actually cousins, which I sort of projected onto the show even though they explicitly re marry as part of the plot. -TL

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. I have been FORCED to include this at the top of my review after it was UNJUSTLY taken down by a moderator previously. As said in Orwell's 1984, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
What a joke. I knew pretty much instantly that yagami was kira because they hint at it so heavily in every episode. I feels like the show is setting up L to be super smart and a detective but he just seemed so stupid for the whole thing because it was obvious who kira was to any viewer with half a brain. boring plot, characters have

no motivations that make any semblance of sense, and i wish the monsters would fight so there would be something interesting to watch (but they never did!) And the color pallet was bland, seemed like the colorers were semi retarded as well because L was constantly blue and yagami red (are they color blind? wheres the consistency? not in death note thats for sure) 4/10.

Wow, and hot chick heaven! You wont see another show like sword art online!!! Kirito plays a lot of games which is relatable for a lot of viewers and especially me, but it doesn't stop innovating there. No, SAO wont settle as the show of a year. Its the show of a *lifetime*. The complex character relationships and interactions leave you thinking introspectively about motivations, goals, and the psychology of not only kirito and his group of female companions, but also his many enemies and adversaries. Every challenge that hes presented with is overcome with a cleverness instead of "brute force power" like in so

many other popular anime. Kirito has nothing handed to him in life, which again I and presumably some other people can relate too. If the enemies have swords to hurt him with, kirito thinks to level up his passive health regeneration to the point that their strike do NOTHING to him! (Bravo writers, we did not see that coming!) asuna and her breasts also star, and she is an incredible fighter but often has to be rescued which is ok with me because i like helpless women. Every turn I was surprised, its really unlike anything else out nowadays (I <3 the golden age of anime!) 10/10
