TLDR: If you like animes which revolve around animals(especially dogs), where they fight for a just cause in a cruel world, and you can see friendship, humanity, betrayal, lots of character development, and other similar themes, then I recommend this action filled anime to you. But let's dig a bit deeper.

Story:
The storyline is continuous, each episode builds on the previous ones. And because this is a sequel it even builds a lot onto the prequel anime, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. However, it's not a problem if you haven't seen that one first, because this anime will tell the basic things which you need to know ... in order to understand who is who in the story.
It could be said that the plot is pretty simple, there is the Big Bad, and the protagonists have to defeat him to bring peace. At first it might look this simple, but when we see the backstory of the villains, and different problems arises between the protagonists, then the story suddenly doesn't feel very simple at all. Sometimes it even presents situations where one cannot make a right moral decision, but the main character still have to do something. Apart from this we get a deep-dive in the feelings of a few of the protagonists, which results in very touching moments, and makes us understand them even better.
Now as I write all of this, the story might seem dramatic. It is, but of course as in most story even here there is a comic relief, who can always put a smile on the viewers' faces.
There are many fighting scenes in series, and they're all exciting and well made. Sometimes the characters need to use strategy and bluffing to keep their lives, and at other times they die like heroes while giving speeches which are heart-gripping.
The end of the story is unarguably beautiful and satisfying, we get a nice happy ending, even if not everything is happy. The final battle was a bit rushed, and was altered in a weird way, but it's kind of understandable, and not that bad.

Art:
This aspect is the one which is the most controversial among fans. It's undeniable, there are badly animated scenes, where the faces and shapes really look weird. But this is not that common. Many people have strong opinion about Deen's animation quality, but here they were able to achieve a decent animation, with some scenes being a bit derpier, but also some episodes were animated outstandingly good. For example in many scenes the lighting is astonishing, and they paid great attention to the details. So if you heard at some places that this anime has "crappy animation", then I would advise you to still give it a chance, it's not as bad as they say.
The backgrounds were always drawn very beautifully, and those combined with the beautiful lighting could create a very memorable and touching moment.

Sounds:
The sounds are great, and seiyuus are awesome! Everyone's voice fits well, and they could always give the feeling what they needed to give.
The music were amazing, some of them rose the given scene so high... It really enhanced the experience. Especially when suddenly in a dramatic scene a fitting music starts playing, and from that point on not only the characters talk, but it's something lot more. My personal favorite is the opening and ending, "Verge of Death", "Spirit of Succession", but all of them great.

Characters:
This is also an aspect of the anime in which it really shines. The main protagonists starts out as a puppy, who know very little, so obviously he will make mistakes. Sometimes his decisions might even seem wrong, but he is still learning, and developing. And I think this is a great thing in this anime. If we look back from the end to the beginning of the story, then we can see how much each character have developed. It's hard to tell specifics without spoilers, but many characters will change their minds entirely about specific things, and this is also very satisfying to watch.
It's a good feature in the series that at the end the team of protagonists is not a randomly assembled group of strays, but all the characters are well known, and we know what to expect from them.
The villains were also interesting in this series, especially the first one, but generally all of them had an interesting backstory, which makes the viewers understand why they became so ruthless.

Enjoyment:
If you like action animes with animals, then I'm pretty sure you'll have a good time watching this series. The drama, emotions, and epic action hooked me a lot.
In my opinion this series is one of those which cannot be forgotten easily, it has many memorable scenes and likeable characters. So I would recommend everyone to give it a try. Maybe you will enjoy it even more if you already seen the prequel, but as I said at the beginning it's not necessary.

I saw Saint Seiya for the first time around a year ago, and at the first few episodes I had doubts with the series, but episode 8 was the turning point. From that point on there were always something to be excited about, the storyline never became boring. This story is understandably popular in many parts of the world, it well deserved its fame. We can witness not just the fight between Bronze, Silver and Gold Saints, or experience the many plot twists what the series presents us, but we can also get a feel about the brotherhood of the main Bronzes. At some parts ... of the series it's very much in focus.
Furthermore, this series is doing perfect job with introducing evil characters, but in their last moments it can make the viewer sympathize with them. This happened with Black Dragon or with Saga.

Overall, the animations quality is perfect, except in some episodes, where a few characters can be a little derp, but this doesn't takes away anything from the experience.

The music was composed by Seiji Yokoyama, and there can be no complaints about it, easily 10/10.

The plot was also exciting all along, I personally liked the first half of the series more though, but the rest is great as well.

The characters are also written well, especially at the beginning we can see the main Bronzes fooling around, but as the series progresses, they grew more serious as well. All characters have their own personality, so they don't feel like "mass produced dolls".

So all in all, this is a very good series, and I can recommend it to anyone who is interested about Shonen series, a mandatory Classic.

The story starts in Northern Japan, Akita prefecture, where the main character, Gin, is born. A terrible bear, Akakabuto, is keeping the area in fear, whose biggest rival is Gohee Takeda, whose ears got teared off by the animal. However, he also successfully injured him by shooting out his right eye. At the beginning two parts of the story runs in parallel, the birth of the new hero, and Gohee' attempt to search for 2 lost skiers. These two threads are getting merged pretty quickly, when Daisuke gets the bad news about Riki and Gohee getting killed by the monstrous bear Akakabuto. The introductions of ... the characters and the world is very strong, the viewer instantly gets the feeling, that in this series anyone can die. At the beginning of the story, the focus is entirely on the humans and the bear hunting, but gradually we can also see how Daisuke's and Gin's friendship is getting stronger and stronger. The series gets a very sharp turn in episode 7, where the focus shifts to the dogs as they start to talk. In this episode Gin joins a wild dog pack, and embarks on a new journey, to gather strong dogs from all over the country. Through the story Gin and the others meet with lots of interesting dogs, some who join forces with Ouu, and some who sees them as enemies. Lots of Shonen elements are appearing at these encounters, for example Gin constantly proving himself, solving situations, and with this saving the day. At the end, they gather in Ouu to finally take down Akakabuto, and restore peace. Around the end humans start to appear again, but their role is not nearly as significant as it was at the beginning.

The characters are very well written, we can see lots of personality developments, for example the most obvious being Gin, who starts out as a puppy, who barely knows anything about the working of the world, and at the end he becomes a strong leader. Even minor characters got lots of personality development, like John, who starts out as an egoist, cold blooded hunter, who can't imagine to accept orders from anyone, but at the end he ends up as a loyal Ouu soldier, who deeply cares about his comrades. Or Gohee, who started out as a cruel old man, who beats puppies, but at the end it's like if he would have completely changed. Lots of characters have references to the Japanese culture, like the Iga and Koga ninja dogs, Benizakura, whose name means "Crimson Cherry Blossom", or the Four Heavenly Kings of Mutsu. All of these characters have strong personalities, which makes all of them interesting, and helpful in different situations. However, I must note that most characters has big potential, but the series wasn't able to give enough screen time for all of them to shine. This is why Bemu, or the Four Heavenly Kings only appear a few times. But all in all, the characters are very likable, and interesting.

The music of this series can only be described as "wonderful". All scenes was able to implement a very fitting music to its feeling. Just by listening to it, it can be heard how terrible and cruel those bears are, or how exciting the fight scene is. The composer was Goro Ohmi, who is not very popular, but he is a great artist, and heavily underrated.

The series includes many well known voice actors, for example Hideyuki Tanaka, Banjou Ginga, Daisuke Gouri, who are all in Saint Seiya, Hokuto no Ken, and a lot more. So it can be said, that Ginga Nagareboshi Gin got a legendary cast.

The series was also dubbed in many languages, with good results. It became popular mostly in the Nordic countries, especially in Finland, where this series have a very big and dedicated fanbase. There are also many official merchandise available, especially from Japan and from Finland. And the Ginga series is still being continued by the creator, Yoshihiro Takahashi, so mangas are constantly available from the newer series, but even about this older masterpiece they can be found on auction sites.

To sum it up, this is an extraordinary series, and well worth watching it, it has very deep messages, and a few comical scenes as well. Strong 10/10 from me.
