Before I start this review, I would like to say that I have been extremely careful to avoid major spoilers; although there is a tiny one in the 'Sound' section. Also, sorry for any grammar mistakes I have made, although I have read through this quite a few times. Thanks.
Story: The story was Very Good, I have chosen that over 'Great' because it didn't pull me in like I wanted it too. I was more focused on the characters themselves rather the grand scheme of things as they never really highlighted how it all tied in. Still, it did good job of keeping things 'relevant'.
...
The love story was the the main thing for me, it got very complicated which I love, all these emotions pouring out of the main character(s). This really set the rating into an 8; despite the main characters backstory getting a bit boring after a while.
Art: Great, they always keeps the animation consistent. The flowing of Sakura blossoms always liven up any scene they choose. Strategically placing the cast and story within Japans most colourful time of year, while giving the whole idea a metaphorical undertone, was simply genius. The only downside is it gets a little repetitive over time, while I realise they were more focused on the characters and music, it would have been nice to see some diversity; otherwise it is definitely a solid 9.
Sound: Absolutely stunning, just during the story could cover everything I could ever imagine. Based of the fact that classical music is the actual standpoint of the series, it includes some stellar composers including Beethoven, Chopin and Tchaikovsky; solid 10.
Characters: While all the characters were rather entertaining; with a mix of personalities that both clash and compliment each other. I would say that the main character's quality that held him back the most (can't tell you what it actually is because that's a spoiler) got overused a little too much and I found myself shouting at the screen 'get over it!' quite a few times. Therefore, I have chosen to deduct three points due to this; overall I rate this section a 7.
Enjoyment: I enjoyed the series very much, and I recommend it to anyone interested in a complex love story; overall I rate the enjoyment section an 8.
Overall: I rate the series an 8, the only things setting this series back from a 10 is the main character and the main characters background being extremely repetitive. It felt as though it was being recycled, they didn't really have anything new to give you about Haruhi.
Thanks for reading, I recommend this to anyone interested in music or love story's.
