If you have a strong constitution, please do not shy away from this anime. I find that it is a much under-rated show, and with it only being a total of less than 45 minutes, even if you are a bit weak-stomached you can still make it through.

It may be that I went into watching this anime with absolutely the worst expectations that I could have, but in the end I really enjoyed watching Pupa. I found the story to be entertaining and captivating, with the art and sound to be a bit more than fair. I would have liked to have seen more ... character development as we see the reference of where Maria thinks that the children would really like to meet their actual parents. Also would like to see where the story line would have gone with the monster that Maria is breeding. In addition to seeing the story continued, the other aspect that could be improved on would be that the story is a bit discontinuous, but I have seen animes that are much more disjointed.

I find that I am very glad that this is just a short OVA series. While I am glad I had the chance to watch this for the anime watching contest, it is not something that I will ever likely watch again. The actual story itself is very sound, but the execution of the overall art style and character design were not to my taste. Often the characters are chibi in design, and other than for very rare instances I do not care for this style.

I feel that the creator should have picked one or two character designs for Mink and stayed with them. Also, ... Mink seems to be about 15/16 years old, and her and her best friend walk around wearing nothing but glorified bathing suits/underwear. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against fan service, but I think it should be done in moderation.

Definitely worth the hour to watch the 2 episodes if for no other reason than exploring early 1990's anime.
