Zankyou no Terror is a anime I'd consider a great. It was masterfully directed show that held a very strong core. I would absolutely recommend watching this show as this show was immensely well done (Especially as its studio MAPPA's first solo work). It touches on a delicate subject with such grace and care that it pays it the full respect it deserves whilst making a statement. For a show about terrorism well Gigguk put it perfectly-"as for all the big explosions and its loud bangs, the series spoke its loudest during its quietest moments and it did it amazingly"
Story-9
The Story was
...
solid and came across very well. The story managed to get across what's needed well and made a very difficult subject retain its weight whilst not making to overbearing. The story draws you in as you want to find out more about what's going on and why certain characters do certain things, and it wraps itself up beautifully by the end. My only complaint with the story was occasionally the writing was mediocre but 90% of the time the Writing was spot on.
Art-10
The Art in this anime is outstanding. It flows beautifully and vividly showing a mesmerizing and beautiful city, not in the cliché way of everything in the city being perfect but in a way where the city is wonderful even with its flaws. The characters are beautifully drawn and are all very distinctive. They were able to show beauty in raw and painful emotions without losing the impact, and the same with the joy and life in the characters. There were times watching this I was so fixated and drawn in by the animation, however the animation was complimented magnificently by...
Sound-10
The sound in this was magnificent. The from the running water to the speech was magnificent. however the best part of the audio was the soundtrack, It is a masterfully crafted collection of music that complements the series and the animation perfectly. The soundtrack alone has no right to be as good as it is, and yet it's beautiful. Quite possibly the most beautiful thing about this whole show. It fits perfectly within the show and adds to all the scenes. There is no moment where the soundtrack should or COULD be replaced without it dropping the quality of the scene.
Character-7
Character is the only place where this show falls flat if at all. The characters are by no means bad, some are excellent, however a lot of the characters left me wanting more. The Main protagonists were good but i still wanted a bit more of them. The same could be said with the main antagonist. Only one character seemed adequately fleshed out to me (they just so happened to be my favourite).
Enjoyment-10
I found this anime utterly enthralling. Its Excellent story combined with the magnificent art and sound made it easy to overlook its lacking characters, and once started I couldn't stop. I started with the attitude of id watch one or two episodes to see how it is and ended up watching the whole thing. I'd heard the anime was good but I was swept away by its quality.
Overall-9
I had to give it a 9. As much as I wanted to give it the 10 the lacking characters were too much to give it the top spot. This doesn't however mean it's not worth your time. It is magnificent. The masterful soundtrack and art alone fuse together into a masterpiece and it being fused by an excellent story, especially as the series draws towards the end, means that I'm going to be recommending this show for a long time. I feel like this show is underrated for what it is. it's by no means perfect. However it's so good perfect is within its reach and is tantalisingly close. As much as I love the show however I wouldn't want another series. the current series was as tight as a walnut corset and adding more would degrade its quality. This anime has moved me in a way only this anime has, not moved me to tears or from sadness. It moved me from beauty and grace. This is a truly Beautiful anime and I only wish it had more exposure.
