I have to start this review off by saying I'm not much of a horror buff. Only recently have I gained the courage to start playing horror video games, and watching horror anime. I stumbled upon Ito Junji: Collection by chance, and thought I'd give it a try. After watching the 12 episodes, I can't say I'm overly disappointed. That was probably the best train wreck I've ever watched.
The Ito Junji: Collection comprises of 24 (?) short stories. I think most of them are suppose to be horror but a few of them had a lighter, comedic tone. I believe only 2 or 3 of
...
the short stories actually spooked me, and again, I am a scardey cat. However, one great thing about this anime is that its all short stories. When you start to get bored of one short story, you are only minutes away from the next one. There is some great variety here, but I would've preferred to be scared 70% of the time opposed to 15% of the time.
The art in this anime, is mediocre at best. The animation is stiff, the art and characters could have definitely been more detailed. It was by far the worst part of this anime. Some characters aren't animated in some scenes as well. There are some still frames for many seconds, where a characters mouth should be moving, but isn't! Lazy, and an injustice to the creators original work.
The sound isn't much better. I think the music in this anime is fine, but doesn't really contribute to make the stories any scarier. I watched the dub, and the voice acting wasn't anything to get excited over. Not terrible, just not anything worth mentioning. Thats basically all of the sound design in this anime. Horror needs to have good sound to help set a tense, atmosphere for the viewers. And that just wasn't the case for this one.
Few characters stand out. I have a handful of favorites but the large majority left a lot to be desired. There was one character that ruined some of the stories for me. I wasn't sure if I was watching a horror, or a comedy when he was on screen. Other than him, nearly everyone else was mediocre. I wasn't expecting huge character development in 10ish minute short stories, but there were A LOT of generic characters. Most of them don't have unique character designs so everyone ends up looking the same. Few characters stand out, but the ones that do were a good change of pace from the rest of the cast.
I know I've really dumped on this anime, but to be honest, I REALLY enjoyed it. While not the horror I was looking for, I wasn't bored very often. And while the animation quality was poor at times, I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen, waiting for the next mystery, the next plot twist, the next scare.
I recommend giving the first 2 or 3 episodes a try. If they don't do it for you, then I don't think you'll enjoy the rest of it. Thank you for reading my review, and have a good one!

"Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora" or "Looking Up At The Half-Moon" got better with every episode. I hope this review helps you decide if this is something you'll want to watch.
I watched this anime subbed.
The story follows two main characters, Yuuichi and Rika. After both meeting each other at the same hospital they currently are checked into, their relationship begins. The story, for the most part focuses on them, their past, and what their illnesses will mean for their future together. This anime is character driven, so don't expect a deep or complex plot. This anime gives us a quick look into their lives,
...
nothing more or less. I do think sometimes there is some unnecessary drama which can make the story feel quite childish. Other than that though, I have no other major complaints.
The art of Hanbun simply works. It isn't terrible, nor is it incredible. It is a bit of an older series so it will look somewhat dated. The animation is function, its fine for what it is. In some scenes, the animation can look a little strange in motion. It may sound all bad, but the art is consistently well drawn. I can't think of a single poorly drawn frame that made me look twice. Overall, its a little rough around the edges but never to the point where it distracted me from the story.
The sound in this anime makes me feel conflicted. On one side, the soundtrack is quite varied with music that fits almost every scene needed. On the other, while the voice actors for the most part are good, there are some lines that were delivered awkwardly. The sound effects, while sounding dated, are still functional. Overall, the sound quality is good, with some of the voice actor delivering some lazy lines.
The characters of a character driven story had better be good. Thankfully, Hanbun delivers most of the time. First, Yuuichi and Rika are the stars of the show. Their relationship is paced very well, which surprises me as I thought it was going to feel very rushed since it was only 6 episodes long. By the end of the anime, you'll probably be feeling multiple different feelings towards them, both individually and combined.
There are many side characters as well. For the most part, they are well developed and entertaining characters. However, few of them do feel very throw away to the point where I wondered why they were actually involved. Some characters you'll start off hating. But by the end of it, you'll be looking at them in a different light. I think that marks well written, and well developed characters.
I do have one somewhat major complaint with this series though. This series is listed as a comedy, which it is. There is some humor here sprinkled in, which is fine... until it starts seeping into the more dramatic and depressing moments. I think this anime could've done a better job at separating the comedy from scenes that should be very depressing. It just tonally didn't sit well with me. It doesn't happen often, but enough to warrant this criticism.

To end this review, I will state that I was surprised I enjoyed this anime as much as I did. It has somewhat of an average and slow start, but as time continued, my enjoyment went up. I do think this series is worth watching as it is very short, and you could watch it all in one sitting. I also really liked the mixed emotions it gave me. Its both so happy yet so depressing, and it just gels together perfectly into an enjoyable experience. If you are looking for an anime that'll make you feel and think about life circumstances, this one is for you.

Inferno Cop will be remembered for its absurd characters and story, and its cheap production values. While the first couple episodes left me astonished at what I was watching, by episode 4 I was bored and was waiting for it to end. Thankfully this anime is very short and you can probably finish it in one sitting if you tried.
The story of Inferno Cop is fairly poor. There isn't really a story to be honest, more like multiple random events that happen for reasons unknown. This could be seen as a pro if you like anime that are very unpredictable. If you are looking for a
...
competent, interesting story, Inferno Cop does not deliver.
The art style is actually fairly good. It has the Trigger style going for it. There is only one problem though, its not very well animated. Seriously, South Park of all shows is even better animated than this. Inferno Cop also uses some really cheap special effects that fit the overall theme this anime was going for. Lets not get this twisted though, the animation and special effects ARE cheap. I would have much preferred studio Trigger gave this their full attention as it would have been great to watch in motion. Overall, the art and animation is poor.
Inferno Cop's sound is a bit of a mystery to me. I can't really remember if there was any music played throughout the episodes other than the ending credits theme. That goes to show how unmemorable the music in this anime is. The voice acting in Inferno Cop was pretty poor as well. Inferno Cop himself was voiced well, along with Mecha Cop and Mr. Judge. Unfortunately the rest of the cast isn't voice acted very well. All female characters are voice acted by men which actually got a little annoying to listen to as the show continued. The overall sound in this anime is one of its weakest points, and wasn't pleasant to listen to at all.
The characters in Inferno Cop don't do much better either. There isn't any real character development, apart from one scene with a support character. Inferno Cop himself is stagnant throughout the series. He doesn't change as a character overall but we do see a softer side of him when a supporting cast member dies. Other than that he is completely one noted. Do not watch this if you are looking for well developed characters that evolve as the show progresses.
I feel like I might get some hate for this review. So I'll be honest, I think I laughed at this anime once. I didn't find this anime funny, and was quite bored with it as a result. Inferno Cup simply isn't my cup of tea. If you are still thinking about watching Inferno Cop, then I'll try to help you decide if its for you.
If you like random, zany comedy with an unpredictable story that doesn't go any where, this might be for you. I should also add that this anime is very unique, as I haven't seen anything else quite like it.
If you like anime with a little more substance to it, whether that's a deep, interesting plot, or complex characters, I don't think you'll like it. I do recommend you watch at least the first episode though. Its only 3 minutes and will let you know if this is something you'll like or not.

There are many words that could describe the Kiss x Sis OVA. A few are unremarkable, tedious, and cheap. I watched the TV version, wasn't much of a fan. I thought I'd give this OVA a try because it was rated slightly higher, so it gave me some hope. Well surprise, surprise, not much has changed.
A heads up, this series is graphic. Its borderline hentai, to the point where I'd call it soft-core porn.
The story of Kiss x Sis OVA doesn't really exist. Two sisters look at their brother like a free all-you-can-eat buffet. They are very horny, so you can probably guess what
...
most of the series consists of *WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE*. Overall, the story is pretty predictable and cliched. I can't say I enjoyed the "story" or even cared where the characters were going, as I was waiting for it to end. Don't expect anything deep, expect fanservice that the OVA tries to dish out, but ends up tasting very cheap.
The art is mediocre at best. It has an art style that doesn't try to be different, doesn't try to unique. The actual animation is fine, usually only truly used to its best in "those" scenes. I don't have much to say other than nice fanservice? Everything about the art and animation in the Kiss x Sis OVA is mediocre.
Sound wise, the music is forgettable. Not necessarily bad, but definitely not good either. The music consists of jazz and greasy porn music. Next with the voice actors, I should mention I only watched the sub. The voice actors in the sub were good though. They did a fine job portraying their respective characters, no complaints there.
The characters in this anime are unremarkable. The MC is the typical, reluctant to do anything sexual guy who happens to have the best luck with girls. The two sisters are horny as said earlier and end up doing kinky things with the MC. You got a teacher who is probably a pedophile. Theres a small perverted loli, and a girl who is constantly put in awkward situations for comedic and fanservice purposes. The dad in this anime is hilarious though. That man just wants his boy to bust some nuts and that is respectable in my honest opinion. If you can't tell by now, most of these characters only qualities is that they serve to be arch types for any kinks the viewer may have. These don't feel like real people nor try to be. They feel like lifeless dolls that don't develop in meaningful ways, only existing to bring the next fanservice moment. Seriously, the plot forces some characters to act stupid just so fanservice scenes can happen. Very disappointing, very cheap entertainment.
You can probably guess my overall impressions of the Kiss X Sis OVA based on what you read. I don't recommend it, there are plenty of better anime out there worth your time. But if you want a competent ecchi-harem anime that focuses entirely on the ecchi, this will probably quench your kinky tastes.

Your Lie in April is an anime loved by many, disliked by few. To an extent, I agree with both of these outlooks. At first, I dropped this anime on the second episode. Weeks later, I returned thinking I was alittle too hard on it, so I gave it another try. I'll do my best to be unbiased in my review, as this is one of my favorite anime of all time.
The story is a slow burn. Its character driven, meaning you will spend a lot of time learning about the characters. You will learn about most of them, some of them in great
...
detail. I thought the story overall was paced well throughout most of the anime. If there is one complaint, I think it is somewhat predictable. You can see future plot points happening a mile away. Other than that though not much to complain about in this area.
The art style and animation in this series is phenomenal. Listen, A-1 Pictures tends to get a lot of criticism for their animation, and rightfully so. However, I am happy to report that this is one of their best based on what I've watched. Your Lie in April is a spectacle to watch, even rivaling Sword Art Online at times. Very few corners were cut, and needless to say, it was simply beautiful to look at.
The music in this anime is probably one of the best I've watched. The soundtrack, the instruments, all of it sounds incredible and helps elevate scenes to greater heights. For an anime thats focused on the power of music, this one succeeds in every regard.
I watched Your Lie in April subbed. Each actor portrayed their roles well and really helped bring these characters closer to being more than just characters in a story. No complaints here.
The characters of Your Lie in April are probably where the show will get the most criticism. First off, most characters in this anime are developed very well. You get to see a look into their past, observe their present, and think about what that all means for their future. There is probably one character you can relate with. However, not all characters get the development that they deserve, and some who don't deserve large development end up getting it. I think the camera stays on certain characters too long, as some characters with bigger and more interesting things happening sometimes take a backseat to give these smaller, less interesting characters a chance to bloom. I would like to note that this doesn't happen a lot, but just enough to be a mild annoyance. Another complaint I have is the melodrama. Yes, the characters can sometimes be dramatic, which is a product of the writing. Sometimes, it seems like the characters are reading off a script, as the dialogue can sometimes be fairly dramatic. I can see why it could be a little much for some people. Even I thought it was pretty cheesy as times. I know in this section, it may seem like I really went hard on the characters, but I want you to realize that these characters aren't bad. They are well developed and the message they deliver is truly thought provoking. Even if there are a few problems here and there, the characters and their journey is what hooked me and kept me watching.
Overall, I loved this anime. This is one I'll remember for along time. This is one I plan to rewatch every year. If you are a fan of music anime, or just looking for a good coming of age story, Your Lie in April should suit your needs. If you are still on the fence about it, I suggest you give it a try. It took me two attempts, and I don't regret returning one bit.

I'm just going to come out of the gate saying this, I've watched this twice. The first time was during "that phase" of my anime viewing period. Years later, about a week ago, I saw a clip on Youtube and laughed quite a bit. I thought "Wow I forgot how funny this series is, I'm going to rewatch it." Well... based on my score, you can probably guess how well that went.
Just as a warning, this anime isn't listed as hentai, but it comes close many times throughout the series. It IS soft core porn.
The story of Kiss x Sis is simple. Two sisters
...
of our MC are horny and thus shenanigans commence. Its pretty predictable, and the overall story isn't important as each episode is structured to be its own mini story. I can't say I enjoyed or even cared where the characters were going, as I was waiting for it to end about half way through.
The art is mediocre at best. It has an art style that doesn't try to be different, doesn't try to unique. The actual animation is fine, usually only truly used to its best in "those" scenes. I don't have much to say other than nice fanservice? Everything about the art and animation in Kiss x Sis is mediocre.

My overall enjoyment of this series started at "This is degenerate but kinda funny" to "Was that the final episode? Oh finally! Hold on, is that an OVA? FUUUUUUU...." I recommend that you don't watch this. Even if you wanna watch it because its degenerate and you are interested in where the story may go. Don't. I was that guy and i regret my decision immensely.

I had low expectations of DRAMAtical Murder going into it. I was expecting it was going to be average, maybe even above that. Well, it didn't even do that much. I'm going to do my best to be fair in this review, but this anime is VERY rough around the edges. Let me try to explain.
The story of DRAMAtical has some serious problems. To begin with, the story has no rising action, or climax to speak of. At no point was I excited or blown away by where the story was going, or what it was trying to do. There are a lot of characters
...
whose main purpose is to deliver plot. DRAMAtical Murder does a lot of "Tell, don't show." There were moments of potential, but never go any further beyond that.
The art style of DRAMAtical Murder is probably its strongest point. The art style isn't bad to look at. It does lack its own flair and style, but as a viewer, it certainly wasn't ugly. Animation wise though, this anime is very lacking. The action scenes are poorly directed, making it hard to tell what exactly is going on. The show also relies on CGI in heavy action scenes. They try to hide the CGI with characters moving fast with a lot of flashy explosions, which again makes it hard to follow. In terms of actual animation, there isn't a lot in the actual show. There is a lot of scenes with characters being completely still and just moving their mouths. There were also a few scenes where the characters were running, but looked very strange and inhuman. Overall, the art style is fine at best, with animation leaving much to be desired.
The overall sound direction of the show is alright. The music works for this kind of show, but nothing memorable. It just simply does it job.
When discussing the sub and dub of this anime, the choice is easy. I watched about half in sub and half in dub. If you are going to watch this, don't even try the dub. Don't. The dubs voice acting is mediocre at best, but the big issue is the writing. Some scenes seriousness or tension is completely destroyed by the clown show that the writing of the dub delivers. Watch the sub, as it is better in every way possible.
The characters of this anime... oh boy. Most are flat, uninteresting, which surprises me to be honest as most of them get DECENT development. Everyone in the main group gets one episode dedicated to them. These episodes were appreciated in making our main cast more human. The problem though is the way the anime handles actually handling these scenes. Basically, our main character mind-fu**s them and helps them with the power of friendship. OH, and the "friendship" in this anime is often forced at times. Most of the main cast has no chemistry, and often feels very fake and rushed. The main character literally gets beat and assaulted a number of times by one of his "friends" and he just takes it. SORRY, WHAT? And then later on they become homies and go on missions together. I don't understand how this group of pretty men formed this "Yaoi Force."
We havn't even gotten to the villains yet. Well, surprise surprise, they also are awful. The main bad guy is your average I'M EVIL BECAUSE I WANT POWER AND MONEY. Other villains include uninteresting henchmen, or enemy gangs whose soul purpose is to move the plot forward while not bringing anything new or interesting to the table. Needless to say, the characters of DRAMAtical Murder need significant changes.
So as you can probably tell, I didn't like this anime. I actually fell asleep during an episode I was so uninterested and bored. This is only the second anime to do that, the first being DragonBall GT. I actually kinda liked that more to be honest.
Anyway, getting back on topic, I don't recommend anyone watches this anime. There are plenty of BETTER shows out there that deserve your time.
This concludes my review of DRAMAtical Murder.

Trigun is a beloved series by many people, and rightfully so. When you have such a complicated and entertaining main character like Vash the Stampede, its easy to see why so many people fell in love. The question though, is Trigun an anime you should watch? I'll let you decide that, and I hope this review will give you all the answers you need.
Trigun follows Vash the Stampede (more on him later) and his adventures on the planet of "Gunsmoke" as he works towards his ultimate objective.
When discussing the story of Trigun, its important for the viewer to understand what to expect. It starts
...
off as a comedy with fun action. However, the further into the series you go, the "darker" and more serious it gets. It still retains some of its comedic elements, but they do take a back seat compared to the first half of Trigun. Most of the time, the plot does a good job of moving the story forward. The first 5 or so episodes of Trigun do lack direction though. It really does feel like the story was going no where and felt very episodic. Thankfully, a real over arching plot starts to develop shortly after. Don't expect all your questions to be answered though. After the anime finished, I had to go to online to find some answers to questions that did not get answered during the 26 episodes of the anime. On the surface, Trigun seems to lack depth or complex themes, but the farther you watch, the more the series might surprise you.
The art style and animation of Trigun is done very well. Characters are generally designed with style with very few lacking their own originality. Especially Vash, the more you watch the Trigun, the more you appreciate his character design. There are some very few minor complaints, as character movement can sometimes look unnatural. However, the action scenes for the most part are done very well. Madhouse put a lot of effort into them and it shows. Rarely does the animation feel lazy. Facial expressions as well impressed me, as it made the characters feel more real, more human. Overall, Trigun has aged well over all these years.
The music of Trigun is one of its strong points. Not only is most, if not all the music well composed, but there is a wide variety of music. The music of Trigun has elements of an old Western, then can switch to smooth jazz. My personal favorite is "Perfect Night" which has horror vibes. The opening in itself is a classic that should be listened to, even if you have no intentions of watching Trigun. Overall, the music did its job in supporting the scenes to elevate them to greater heights of enjoyment.
I can also report that the voice acting of both dub and sub were done very well by all respective voice actors. I watched 7 episodes subbed, and 19 dubbed. Both have minor issues, like some lines coming off kind of flat, or just some awkward voice acting by minor characters. I can't tell you which is better, I think you should decide yourself. I thought both performed well.
The part I've been waiting to write about now. The characters of Trigun are somewhat hard to talk about without spoiling, but I'll do my best. Ill start with Vash, the character that this series focuses on the most. The story revolves around him so its important that the author made him enjoyable to watch, and he succeeded in that regard. Vash is easily one of my favorite anime characters EVER. He is funny, charming and a straight up BAD A$$. However, he is somewhat a tragic character, with a hard breaking past that still haunts him everyday of his life. He is complicated, and often has his morals tested. Needless to say, Vash the Stampede IS the star of Trigun. The supporting cast are all written well. The anime does a good job at making you care for them as they follow and work with Vash in his adventures.
The weakest part of the characters are usually the villains. Very few villains are properly fleshed out and lack interesting motives. Most of them are the WE ARE HERE TO COLLECT THE BOUNTY ON YOUR HEAD or WE ARE HERE BECAUSE OUR MASTER WANTS YOU DEAD. Again, this isn't ALL the villains of Trigun, just the majority. Some villains are actually interesting, and feel threatening when on screen, thanks to the soundtrack in some parts.
Overall, the characters of Trigun are the best part of the anime, with villains being hit or miss.
Did I enjoy Trigun? Yea I did. Although it has a wide variety of issues, most of these issues are very minor and shouldn't impact your overall enjoyment. If you are looking for a funny series that evolves into something more serious and personal for our main character with well animated action scenes, look no further than Trigun.
Thank you for reading my review. If you have any positive or negative feedback to give me in regards to my writing or review style, please feel free to message me.

Please excuse if this review seems messy, as its my first attempt of reviewing anime.
Elfen Lied, a twisted story of tragic characters trying to find their place in the world. And what a depressing world Elfen Lied finds itself in. Seriously, do not watch this anime if you have a weak stomach or have a tough time with certain "touchy" subjects, because this anime isn't afraid to tackle all forms of abuse and violence. Oh yea, and nudity...if you like that sorta thing.
Ill be honest, plot and character wise, this anime is a disaster in some parts. The characters make constantly stupid decisions,
...
say the dumbest things that make no sense, and made me face palm repeatedly. Usually these things drive me crazy and make me strongly dislike a show, but not with Elfen Lied. My relationship with this series is complicated. It's not really love-hate, but I'll try to explain.
Starting with the art style and animation, I'll say it pretty great for when this anime released. I have very few complaints, like some odd animation choices here and there but apart from that, action scenes and dramatic scenes are usually done very well.
I watched this anime subbed, and I thought the performances were done very well. I don't have any complaints with how the voice actors portrayed each of their characters.
The music of Elfen Lied is glorious, if a little lacking in variety. "Lilium" is an all time favorite track that is used as the anime's opening, as well as a track in the show itself. I'm actually not lying right now, I'm listening to it as I write this review. Please listen to the song in its entirety as it is one of the greatest songs to come out of this medium of entertainment. Aside from that song, there isn't too many other memorable tracks that stand out. I'm not saying they are bad, just not to the quality of Lilium. Overall the music was good.
Previously I talked poorly of the characters. I shouldn't say they aren't deep, as some get very good development that make you care for them. These characters have very tragic pasts that continue to haunt them even in the present. Its just the constant stupid decisions that they make because if they did the smart thing, the anime would have ended over and over and over again. Also, characters will say dumb things in certain situations that make NO SENSE. They will make you face palm and think "Really? THATS WHAT YOU SAY after THAT happens?" The show is a mess in this regard.
Another issue that should be touched on is how the tone in this anime likes to shift all over the place. One episode there is murder, abuse, and physical/sexual assault on screen. The next episode, characters are fondling each other, forced fan service, comedy, and even a growing harem. While watching, I was seriously questioning how I was suppose to view this anime. Is it a mystery, horror, psychological thriller? Is it a romance, harem, comedy or even slice of life? I didn't know sometimes, and it was jarring to say the least.
However, this must be said. I border line love this anime. I watched it in one sitting including the OVA. Its fun to watch, even with all its flaws. I highly recommend anyone watch this if interested. This might be the greatest "train wreck" of an anime I've ever watched. Don't expect a masterpiece, or even a story that makes sense sometimes, and you'll probably walk away somewhat satisfied.
Thank you for taking time to read this review. I accept any positive or negative feedback to help better shape my writing and reviews.
