-I discovered the anime world only recently (2017) thanks to a good friend of mine and really started to watch them in 2021.
I'm not an unconditional lover of anime. I'm still a simple viewer that found interest in this genre of entertainment. I will not necessarily follow tendencies. There is a lot of subjectivity in rating but at one point I can have some objectivity.
-As I don't like reading, it is highly possible that I will never read a manga.
-At one point I had genres I watched or not when it was about films and series, but the anime world shattered all of this and now I watch pretty much all genres.
-How do I rate an anime?
There are some anime that are not good or not interesting for me and I just can’t bother to watch them entirely. Those anime will be dropped and never rated. How can I rate something I just don't like watching. Because I don't like this anime I would give him under 5 but that’s not fair. I can’t rate something if I haven’t seen it entirely. I saw some profile where people watched 1 episode, dropped the anime and rated it 1/10, this is not an enlightened judgment at all.
The other anime are the ones which I entirely watched. If I watched them entirely that means that they were somewhat watchable for me at one point. They will be rated between 5-10 for the credit to have retained me to the end. You will never see a lower mark on my profile. For someone on MAL, the average mark is 5, for me it’s 7.
I'm not a genius of storytelling, animation or anything. I will generally be generous with the notation. In the end, the only thing I really care is either the story or the depth behind the story. I’m not one of those who thinks that because animation is good, the anime is good (I know too many people like this).
7 is my average mark, the frontier between somewhat good and somewhat not that good. 7 means that the anime was watchable, but nothing really came out of it. It's just ok.
6 and 5 mean that at one point it was painful for me to watch this anime despite a certain potential.
8 and 9 mean that the anime was good at one point and retained my interest better than the average anime.
10 is reserved to an anime that let me enter their world and I just enjoyed it from the beginning to the end.
In addition, on my lists, you will find little notes about the anime, IT MAY CONTAIN SPOIL, it is my opinion about it or for pointing problems or just the things i liked. Finally you will find in the tags an advice that can have 3 forms. It is independant from the mark and are personnal recommandation easuer to read than a mark.
"Watch it": I strongly advice you to watch this anime, i do believe you will enjoy your time on it
"You can watch it" : You may enjoy it if you have nothing better to do or if you are ok with low or random or common content
"Don't watch it" : I advice you to not watch this anime cause i think it's a waste of time.
What about on-hold anime?
Their case is complicated, it's a mix of anime that I somewhat want to watch but are too boring to be seen in my actual mood or my actual disponibility. All of this combined with anime that didn't really convince me the first time and are subject to a second evaluation because I was not really focused on it.
-How do an anime make its way into my list ?
Their selection is very random but actually, mainly from the seasonal list of MAL. The real selection consists of reading synopses. The standards are very low. Following the synopses, they will be added in the "watching" or "plan to watch" section.
-In what order do i watch animes?
Obviously the "watching" section means that they are the first in line to be seen, they are the priority. It could be different following the moment you read my list but I will have a big "watching" list. This is because I like to have many choices that will obviously be influenced by my states of mind. I can work around many anime at the same time without being tired of seeing one because it's not the time in my life to.
Dates are important, and i'm very strict with it. You can understand what I liked just by watching them.
Then, in order, the "plan to watch section" will follow obviously. But it’s pretty rare for me to go there to add in my watching list. Just so many anime are popping every season that are interesting.
When those two sections will be empty, (very unlikely) the on-hold list will follow. You might understand that it is not a really good thing for an anime to be in this list, It's like an unlimited waiting room.
Finally when all of this will be empty, i will MAYBE reconsider my opinions on some dropped anime (will likely never happen)
