Kuroko no Basket Season 2

The first season of Kuroko no Basket was good, but this season definitely stepped its game up. The main focus of this season is the games, and I'm pretty sure a game is going on in every single episode. This isn't a bad thing though, because the games are insanely intense.

Story: 7/10
The story for this show is a typical one, wanting to become the best basketball players/team but it still has a very good execution. Kuroko no Basket 2 takes its time on each game so the story isn't rushed at all. I'm pretty sure only two games happened this season. ... But that might be a little too slow for a sports show. Obviously it's better for a show to be kept at a nice pace than rushed, but there definitely could have been a third game in this season. Still, the story itself is good, and I couldn't help but enjoy watching it.

Art: 8/10
The art is very detailed in this show. You can see the exhaustion of each of the players during the game such as the sweat and trembling legs, which lets you know how hard they're trying. Even each of the characters have a design unique to itself, which is definitely a good thing. The only problem I still have with this show is the shadowing, but that's just my personal opinion and it doesn't bother me much.

Sound: 8/10
The sound in this second season is a lot better than the first. Both the opening and the ending were good songs, and I don't think i skipped it once. During the games, they integrated the music very well and it made the games even more fun to watch. The music is very well done.

Character: 8/10
The characters are very well made in this show, because each character has something unique in them that the next character won't have. Both Kuroko and Kagami are a great duo for the main characters, and their interactions are very entertaining. The opposing teams had interesting characters too, which made their games very intense.

Enjoyment: 10/10
Although there are some things I didn't mention before that I don't like about this show (mainly the godlike super powers), it was still unbelievably fun to watch. There are cliffhangers after almost every episode which got me wanting to watch more and more. This show is fantastic in terms of enjoyment.

Overall: 8/10
Kuroko no Basket 2nd Season is a very fun show overall, and even though this show got me mad at certain points, I was still wanting to watch more. Kuroko no Basket 2 is a promising sequel that will be very enjoyable if you liked the first season.

I am fairly new to sports anime, and the only sports series I have seen before this is Major. While many people have not seen or heard of Major since it is slightly underrated, I still might use a couple comparisons to help get my point across. Going into Kuroko no Basket I had pretty high expectations because of the ratings, but I was fairly disappointed for certain reasons I have yet to explain.

Story: 7

The story itself is nothing unheard of, having players want to become the best in the world, ... and it even manages to have an original aspect with Kuroko's great passing skill. While the show starts off well, it makes multiple mistakes as it keeps going on. The first of it's errors is the rules of the league they are playing in. In an anime that is 25 episodes long, and you realize that the team will be disqualified after losing once, the predictability of each match becomes too obvious. Who wants to watch a show where you already know what's going to happen? The second error I noticed was the constant "slowed time" during the games which tries to build intensity while also explaining what is going on. By doing this though, the quick pace of the basketball game diminishes instantly and interest is lost. One last mistake I want to point out is the failure to express the amount of practice the players put in to try and get better. Over the course of 25 episodes, I only remember seeing about 10-15 minutes of Seiren practicing. Without any scenes of the team practicing, the viewer fails to see the team grow and bond through tough times. Also, the development of each player seems simple, fast, and easy.

Art: 7

The art of Kuroko no Basket is nothing special, but it isn't at all bad, considering the fact that it was made in 2012. The sweat that is put on each of the players makes the viewer notice how hard they are trying, yet sometimes the players will be sweating even at the very start of a game, which confused me. One negative part of the art I noticed was the shadowing. There were two different types of shadows, which got mildly annoying. There was the regular shaded shadows, but then each of the characters had this weird lined shadow on their necks which felt somewhat awkward. But besides that, all else was done well.

Sound: 6

The openings and endings I found to be pretty dull, and not very memorable. The sound during the games was fine, although sometimes the fans would be cheering and then stop abruptly. All the characters sounded good, and the effects of the dribbling and shots were good.

Character: 5

This is where I had a big problem. Once again, the main two characters, Kuroko and Kagami, were good main characters. Each of them had a certain advantage and they didn't seem to amazing, which would help with character development. But as soon as they started introducing the members of the "Generation of Miracles", I was just speechless. Midorima, the green haired player, was just downright ridiculous. A player who can literally make any shot from any part of the court as long as no one blocks him? What kind of inhumane obstacle is that? And also with Midorima they showed his belief in horoscopes, which was a pretty lame plot device used. A horoscope should not be a tool used in predicting the outcome of a basketball game. Also Aomine, the blue haired player, had another inhumane "super power", which was once again ridiculous. Aomine was able to fly past every character, and those few times he couldn't and was blocked, would just make some crazy behind the back shot which made it every time. It may be an anime, but with these over the top powers given to the characters, development and enjoyment decreases significantly. One last character problem was the Seiren team itself. Besides the five main players, barely any of the other teammates were introduced well and even had any significance to the show.

Enjoyment: 8

Even though these super powers pissed me off and the predictability of the games was too easy, the show still managed to keep me entertained. It even had a pretty decent comedy aspect, which helped a bit.

Overall: 7

Here is where I'll make some references to Major. In Major the team overall bonded well and all of the players would rely on each other. With Kuroko no Basket lacking this, I could honestly care less who wins or not, because I barely know anything about Seiren. Another good quality of Major is the setbacks throughout each season, and the ways the MC manages to get past them. Kuroko no Basket had minimal setbacks, and I think the biggest one was Kagami's "hurt legs", which ended up only lasting a couple episodes. And the two other things that Major does better are the predictability, and the more realistic characters. Now, to stop talking about the other show, I'll just say that overall Kuroko no Basket was decent, and had a great amount of potential, but there were too many mistakes made throughout the series.

NOTE: This is my first review. I've debated writing a review on this sequel for a while now. I've wanted to express my feelings for this show but for some reason I have been holding back. After having constant disputes with my friend over this anime, I'm now typing this review.

Story: 2
The story of Sora no Otoshimono isn't a bad one, but it is the way it's executed throughout the series. Over half of this series consists of episodic fillers with cheesy humor and overused ecchi. Now, I'm not the kind of person who doesn't like ecchi. But with the way it's presented in this ... show with Tomoki's constant pervertedness and dumbness, I just find it unpleasant and appalling. For the last couple episodes of the season, the anime decides to verge off from the usual perverted Tomoki and tries to fit in a story that you probably have already forgotten from season one after the overload of pervert given to you in Forte. Overall, I give the story a 2 mainly because over half of this season isn't even story, and trying to quickly fit it in at the end messed it up.

Art: 6
The art is good, I won't lie about that. The ecchi animation is good along with the background setting. The problem with the art for me is the overuse of chibi throughout the series. I found it humorous at certain times, but the amount of chibi used in this show is taken to extremes, which messed with the character development and just aggravated me at certain moments.

Sound: 6
Nothing bad about it, nothing good about it. The opening and ending were decent, but nothing memorable. Background music was decent, but once again, nothing very good or memorable about it.

Character: 2
The main character, Tomoki, is just a total mess that it is almost embarassing. A perverted young teen who ends up with a harem of angel girls, yet still feels the need to disregard their feelings and spy on other random girls in numerous situations. The other main characters are just typical for any harem, and even their personalities are typical and dull. Ikaros, the one who "lacks" emotion, but somehow is gaining it through the wonderful perverted actions of Tomoki. Nymph, the small one who won't admit her feelings to the pervert. And Delta, I think her name is, the "blonde klutz" of the anime, who just happens to have an enormous rack and will mess up every possible situation she is in. And then last there is Sohara, the "childhood friend", who has been in love with the perverted, almost always chibi, Tomoki, and still is in love with those marvelous perverted moments.

Enjoyment: 2
I just found this anime to be terrible in almost every aspect possible. Now, this i just my opinion though, obviously the majority of MAL likes this show, and I respect that. I just believe that if you look more closely than the ecchi and comedy of the show, you will see how Sora no Otoshimono isn't as great as it could have been. It had potential. But with the overused perverted comedy along with the terrible character development and use of episodic ecchi fillers throughout the season, the potential to be something better than other ecchi/comedy/harem animes was ruined.

Overall this anime failed to appeal to my likes. My apologies to those who love everything about this show. This is my personal opinion and please feel free to try and change my views about it. Thanks to everyone for reading my first review.
