I feel strongly towards the series for what it is, the elements of what's told are very good and it feels very true and strangely fresh.
However, the pacing is all out of whack for sure. i dont know what it is with me and fiction that im watching and feel like they are told wrongly. might be me having a screw loose or something haha.
Anyway, i really liked it in the end. It gets better and very different towards the second half (like all the anime i like i guess) and its very interesting,
but it feels like it's
...
making stuff up as it goes along. Is it the problem of having a CG show where the elements cannot be made before producing the show for buget reasons no matter what? The whole thing feels like half of a series. The ending is no ending, it's a series mid point for sure. the series needs a second season to hold any water as a story.
The most striking thing is the main character just switches, from ditsy and cute to badass and aloof, and it is actually justified. But I at least find it very bitter sweet and i got confirmation within the last episodes that it is what the series was trying to do, they built up this annoying but free character that becomes competent but shackled
is it told well? i cant say that, i feel like if there is a second season, everything needs to happen there. I inadvertedly spoiled myself some plot twists from the manga, and i hope the series will go deeper than those so as to be of any interest
the issue i have with the sries i guess is that it feels like a first draft to me. peole getting acquainted with their cg and techniques
this series re-paced could be a fantastic 6 episode OVA
condense the ditsiness at the beginning which is aimless and annoying (but retain some as it is useful for setting up the characters) make a more tense middle act, that delves deeper in what actually happned in the series ( and make it so the main character doesnt snap as suddenly as it does in the series) and an actual end
im complaining a lot but i thought the series fascinating. lacking in substance but what little substance was there was of quality.
