So while I will eventually add ratings, I mainly use tags to classify stuff I watch here (and it's really confusing and I'm sorry). The main ones are:
- Not Recommended (If someone asked me if I should watch it, I would say no)
- Conditionally Recommended (If someone asked me if I should watch it, I would say yes, but only if...)
- Recommended (If someone asked me if I should watch it, I would say yes)
- Hall o' Being Really Good (I will tell you to watch it without you asking).
There are also a couple of others I use to show very broadly what you might get out of it. I tag with these based on what I think it's going for, not whether it succeeds to me personally (that's what the recommendation tags are for). These tags are:
- Candy, for being fun but not overly substantial by themselves, such as comedy, fanservice, filler, eyecandy, etc.
- Vegetables, for substance that comes from plot and character development
- Meat, for substance that comes from thematic elements, or elements that require analysis or theorising
Admittedly this system sucks ass, but the basic gist is that I would rather rate things based on how much I would recommend them to others (which comes from personal enjoyment), and what they would get out of it. That's what the tags are for. If you think this is stupid, I don't blame you: just disregard it and look at the ratings (when I add them).
