This anime was a mixed bag for me. I haven't seen the original show, so my experience with this franchise is based entirely on the reboot. Yozakura Quartet had a good story set up going on, but that was it. I feel like this anime feel short, it didn't really go anywhere. There were all these clues leading to this big climax, but in the end it felt like nothing had really happened and nothing got accomplished. Yes, it think the story was good, I just would've liked to get more out of it. This series could probably have benefited from being slightly longer.
There characters,

however, are what really make the show. There are a lot of them, most introduced within the first few episodes, and it's a diverse, fun cast of characters. Hime and Akina were handled nicely, but I would've liked to see some more of the side characters get more back story or development.
The animation was nice as well as the art style. The opening and the ending song were both catchy.
Despite my problems with this show, I think it was actually very enjoyable and was fun too watch. How, I'm going to give this anime a score of 6/10. Good, but I felt like it could've been a lot better.

Personally I think this movie is very overrated. I've only heard good things about it and it was nice to come here and see at least a few other people agreed with me.
In terms of characters, they weren't that great. Sophie was nothing special and was very plain, and Howl isn't really as beautiful of a character as he was supposed to be. There relationship also wasn't that great, it was basically love at first sight which I can kind of let slide considering in a 2 hour movie there isn't really a lot of time to develop a relationship, but it was basically just

Sophie looks at him, he looks at her, and they're deeply in love. There could've been some better development.
The plot also left me scratching my head wondering what happened. Nothing was really explained as well as it should have been, and I was left wondering why things were happening and what was going on. I'm sure the book explains everything in detail, but the movie didn't even make an attempt.
Overall I didn't really enjoy it. Other than the art there wasn't much I really enjoyed. The story was underdeveloped and the characters were forgettable. I'm a fan of Studio Ghibli, but this is definitely my least favourite movie by them.

This is my first review so please bear with me.
I didn't really have any expectations going into BRS, as all I'd never seen any trailers going into the show. The only things I'd seen of the show were numerous pictures going around tumblr, and I'd been drawn in by her character design. I'd put it off for a while though, until I'd heard it was written by Nagaru Tanigawa, the author of the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

All I can say is don't go into this OVA expecting an action centered show. Really, the story is more of a slice of

life. The show revolves around Mato, who starts middle school and becomes best friends with Yomi. When they get put in separate classes during their second year, their friendship runs into trouble. Meanwhile, their alternate personas battle it out in another world.
The show is cute enough, but it doesn’t really focus on the other world so much and instead focuses on normal middle school life. You get a good sense of the friendship between the two girls, and you feel bad for them as you watch it crumble. Considering the OVA is only about 50 minutes long, their relationship is written well for something that has to be rushed.
It’s a somewhat good slice of life, but I think it could’ve linked to BRS more, as that was what most people were expecting. The fighting scenes were really good, and I think they could have been integrated into the show more, as the viewer is just left for most of it trying to interpret how the two worlds fit together. Also, when you first realize that the other world is a battle between Mato and Yomi, then the rest of it becomes somewhat predictable.
Though the presentation of this work could’ve been better, you can defiantly tell it was written by Tanigawa. Much like Haruhi Suzumiya, it presents itself as an action packed show that consists mainly of a slice of life that has some slight incorporation of a paranormal world.
Art: 8
The character designs for the girls in the real world weren’t so great, and the art style wasn’t really anything to note either. However, I thought this show was pleasing to look at, it was colourful and eye catching. The battle scenes were especially well done though, they were great to watch and the animation set the mood greatly.
Sound: 7
They didn’t use the original vocaloid song in the OVA, which isn’t really a big deal to me since I wasn’t a big fan of it in the first place. But considering it was the song BRS was based off, they could’ve added it in somewhere. The song they did use in the credits was really good though and I thought it fit in well with the ending.
Character: 6
Much like Tanigawa’s other work, BRS consists of well written teenage girls. Well, they had potential to be well-written but the OVA wasn’t long enough for fleshing out the characters or any development, though you got a good sense of their relationship, and how much Mato and Yomi enjoyed being around each other. None of the characters really have annoying personalities, as they avoid the most overused character archtypes, making them enjoyable.
Mato is your average protagonist. She is friendly and cute and there isn’t really anything noteworthy about her personality, though I think she still makes for a good protagonist. It’s definitely a break from all the tsunderes that have been appearing in anime lately. Yomi is shy and because of moving around a lot has trouble making friends. I think her character is very relatable, especially if you’ve been in her situation yourself, and you feel bad for her as you watch her and Mato’s relationship deteriorate.
Both of the characters are enjoyable and you really get a sense as you watch their relationship fall apart. Even if there wasn’t much character development, the characters are still good characters and enjoyable to watch.
Enjoyment: 7
If you can get over the fact that this show isn’t what the trailers make it out to be, it isn’t that bad. As far as slice of life goes, it’s more enjoyable as it features a more dramatic take on high school friendships, making it something I found myself enjoying more. If you’ve been in Yomi’s place, this will strike a chord in your heart.
This show left me wondering how the two different worlds would eventually meet, and I enjoyed the stories from both sides. The relationship between Mato and Yomi was interesting, and the battle scenes exciting to watch.
Overall: 7
Much like Tanigawa’s Haruhi Suzumiya, this show presents itself as an action packed story which instead has a big focus on the school life and relationships of the characters with some paranormal elements thrown in. If you’re really excited for a battle-centered anime, then you’re going to be disappointed. If you’re willing to accept it for the slice-of-life it is, then I recommend it.
With cute characters and fluid animation, this show is defiantly worth a try if you don’t go in excited to watch BRS destroy things. You’ll also need to keep your mind open as in the beginning it will take some interpreting of the other world. Though this OVA didn’t really satisfy me, it was somewhat fun to watch and I would cautiously recommend it.

STORY:
The story was amazing, somehow it manages to be every genre at once and it's always interesting. The idea of a bi-polar girl who has the power to change the world subconsiouly but doesn't know it is both interesting and original. Both the Sci-Fi aspects of the show as well as the School Life scenes are both fun to watch. As well, the story is deep and well-developed without being too complicated.
ART:
With art by KyoAni, you know you can't go wrong. The characters were drawn great, as well as backgrounds and animation overall.
SOUND:
Aya Hirano is the perfect voice for Haruhi. As well, Crispin Freeman doing
...
Kyon in English only adds to the series. The background music is great, the songs are fun to listen to. The character songs are awesome as well.
CHARACTERS:
TMOHS features a wide variety of characters. Haruhi is energetic and stubborn, Mikuru is shy and anxious, Yuki has no emotions at all, Kyon is sarcastic, and Itsuki is the yes man. The characters are all so distant from each other, yet it works. They're all well developed and secretive, but they're all lovable and relatable in some way.
ENJOYMENT:
TMOHS is great from start to finish. At only 14 episodes this show managed to squeeze it's way as my favourite anime.
OVERALL:
10/10.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a masterpiece, Nagaru Tanigawa is a genius, and no one could've done it better than KyoAni.

I've watched Clannad and Clannad After Story and played a little bit of the visual novel. I decided to watch the movie and was disappointed.
STORY:
Well, they managed to get the main points in but I thought it wasn't a good summary. Everything happened to fast and it felt like you didn't get a chance to see character relationships develop. There are a lot of parts that would've left me confused if I hadn't seen the anime first.
ART:
The art was horrible. KyoAni is on of my favourite animation studios, on of the reasons being the art. However, the are in the Clannad movie left me feeling

like I was watching something really old. I assumed that KyoAni also did the movie, but the second I saw the art I realized it was somebody else.
SOUND:
Not much to say about the sound, it didn't really strike me as good or bad. The only thing is I don't like this version of the Dango song, but I'm going to let this slide since it was written first.
CHARACTER:
The characters were generally the same, though I found Sanae-san and Akio had a different relationship in the anime, one I found annoying. I really hated Okazaki, his depression got on my nerves and he wasn't the same sarcastic guy that I fan-girled over.
ENJOYMENT:
I gave this a 1 as there wasn't anything to keep me watching and I just felt like Okazaki's greaving was a big turnoff.
OVERALL:
A few other people who gave bad ratings mentioned liking the last half hour. This was the part that bugged me the most as the story jumped around. The whole last 30 minutes I was dying to see Ushio and she was only there for what, 30 seconds?
