First Anime was old rerun episodes of Voltron in early 90's (can't remember if MMPR came out before I watched it or after) followed by Ronin Warriors during the mid 90's. But my biggest "Anime breakthrough moment" where I was like "OMG I have never seen anything like this!" was the Street Fighter II Anime movie in 94. This set my basic standard of adoration for the martial arts/shonen genre (and the fact that I had been practicing Tae Kwon Do for about a year gave me a stronger appreciation and relation to it. Mind you this was during the height of MMPR phenomenon, plus TMNT, the first MK movie, and Jackie Chan's US mainstream debut.. Wow, it really was a martial arts era!!) as well as my love and adoration for the SF franchise in general. SFII V also had a hand in that, as well as CN's first syndicated run of Dragon Ball Z. Then, of course, the Gundam Wing craze came and began my first addiction of GUNPLA and the Gundam Franchise.
So yeah, love hardcore fighting shonen, Gundam, pretty girls in seifukus (or school unis in general) but don't let the shallow tastes fool you - I enjoy the deep, analytical, stuff and balance myself out with the occasional self-indulgent smut stuff like To-Love-Ru. I'm a male, sue me.
