Aside from the lack of character devolopment, the story itself is "nearly" perfect in my opinion.
Upon first expectations I assumed this would be just the average type of anime with Ecchi tossed into it. However the amount of enjoyment one gets from the anime is on par with the rest of the top notch animes. Not saying its the best, it has flaws such as those stated above and it doesn't really give much backstory either.
Who knew such a simple story would have a deeper meaning.. Protagonist Ikki fights to the top and all this despite no aknowledgement from his family, yet finds someone along
