Story: 7/10
It's a story about a guy suddenly getting 3 younger sisters from his father's second marriage. It's not going to blow your mind or anything but there is definitely something there to enjoy. There is some drama but it never ever becomes unbearably annoying. It's just about a family learning to live together, and that's nice.
Art: 7/10
I really enjoy the art in this series. I think there is just some beauty to it all. Just like the story though, the art ain't going to blow you away with an awesome looking panel or anything. The art is definitely better than average though.
Character: 8/10
This is
...
where the heart of this series is really is. The main character Hinata goes from this independent loner to having to suddenly take care of 3 sisters. Of course he is annoyed by this at first but seeing him slowly grow to love his family is heartwarming to say the least. The sisters also have their own issues and you will see this in the series. The character development is the highlight of this manga.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I enjoyed it a lot. There isn't some over the top drama and the characters are all great. It also doesn't overstay it's welcome and ends at a reasonable point. If you want a great heartwarming story then this is definitely for you

Story: 5/10
It's basically a road trip to new york with the occasional plot of some bad guy manipulating things. It's not impressive or anything and the revelations aren't that surprising either. Near the end it does start to feel like they were more interested in trying to promote good looking girls and promoting their game then making a great one-off story.
Art: 8/10
This is basically the only reason you are going to watch this show. The character designs are great, the American settings looks great and the fight scenes are awesome. This show is purely style over substance.
Sound: 6/10
I am severely disappointed in the music in
...
this show. The story has a main character who loves music and wants to bring it back but the actual music in the show is boring. The opening and ending songs are pretty good though.
Character: 5/10
Every character apart from our main duo, Takt and Destiny, are underdeveloped or ridiculous cartoony in motives. It is quite a shame as these characters look great but they are difficult to invest any care into. The series also ends with some characters not even having a proper resolved story.
Enjoyment: 5/10
Just watch it to see good looking girls do cool stuff. If you're interested in the game then the anime is a prequel that can get you more invested into the world which is all this anime seems to be bothered to focus on anyway.
It is slightly disappointing as this series definitely could've been great.

Trying to do a redemption story for an unlikeable main character is a difficult task. This is one of the challenges that "A Silent Voice" has to deal with it as our main character, Ishida, bullied a deaf girl when he was younger.
However, this film succeeds in this whilst also tackling deep themes such as depression, guilt and bullying. One thing this movie avoids falling into is being overly melodramatic. There is some drama and some romance but they are not the central theme. I appreciated that the film remains focused on the problems that Ishida and the deaf girl, Shoko, are dealing with.
...
There are also side characters ranging from the likeable to the unlikeable but even the unlikeable ones have a sort of redemption arc as well.
The story being told is just so engaging and seeing Ishida and Shoko trying to overcome their issues was just so wonderful. I was almost brought to tears near the end of this film.
This is also thanks to the phenomenal music score and the gorgeous animation.
A Silent Voice is a film that will always remain in my mind whenever I think of anime films. It still baffles me though that Oscar picked "Boss Baby" over this amazing movie.
Flipping Boss Baby!!!
A Silent Voice is a stunning movie and I highly recommend people give it a watch.

Your name was one of the biggest Japanese animation movies to come out in the last decade. I am a huge fan of anime but I never really bothered to watch your name despite all the hype because of other commitments. The premise of the movie is "Two teenagers share a profound, magical connection upon discovering they are swapping bodies. But things become even more complicated when the boy and girl decide to meet in person". I finally decided to watch this movie and wanted to see if this movie was deserving of its hype.
Firstly, the animation and art style is so beautiful. Every shot
...
in this movie is visually striking and it is very clear that the director (Makoto Shinkai) and his team were thorough in the detail of Tokyo and the rural countryside. The setting of this movie is based on the real world but it is so gorgeous to look at, that it feels magical. Every little thing in this movie is just so visually pleasing from the skyscrapers to the forest to just the characters eating; it's stunning. This movie was definitely robbed by the Oscar for not even nominating the movie.
The music is also done by a Japanese band call "Radwimps" and it is phenomenal. Their songs are perfectly utilised in the movie and perfectly represents and elevate the emotion of the scene. It's surprising because using vocal pop songs are usually jarring but Your Name does it in such an effective way that the scene wouldn't feel the same without it.
The story within this movie sounds cliche with the body-swapping but the way it is executed is so fundamentally different from anything Hollywoods done that it feels unique. Mitsuha is the girl who lives in the rural countryside and is a shrine maiden but wishes to live in Tokyo. Taki is the boy who lives in Tokyo who is a talented artist aspiring to be an architect. They both end up randomly swapping bodies which results in them having to discover why this is happening but also learning about each other along the way. The situation leads to them dealing with each other problems but also discovering more about themselves. Mitsuha and Taki wouldn't interact normally but this event leads to them creating a bond where they both would be irreplaceable to one another.
Romance movies are not something I am fond of but Your Name kept me emotionally invested in what was going on. There is some laugh out loud moments that are expected of body-swapping but there are some serious, suspenseful and even genuinely heartwarming moments that tug at my heartstrings. The director masterfully inserts these clashing tones and makes it fit together to complement each other. There are some twist and unconventional ways to body-swapping done in this movie that sets it apart from other romance or body-swapping movies. On top of that, the characters are absolutely loveable with their quirky personalities. There is also supporting characters who are the friends of Mitsuha and Taki who are just the best people in the world.
Overall, the movie is such a wild rollercoaster of emotions. There were so many moments where I was screaming internally because I was so invested in these characters and their situation. The constant message of searching for something or someone is the theme of the movie and it shouldn't resonate but it does. All of this leads to a satisfying finale that by the end I've felt rewarded. I've never been so engaged in a romance movie until Your Name. The fantastically beautiful animation that is weaved together with a very human story with likeable characters leads to what may be the best animation movie in the last decade. This was a sensational experience that everyone should experience themselves.

This movie can be incredibly cliche and sappy while also using a lot of the tropes expected from romance stories.
However, I still came out completely in love with it. There is a sense of heart and soul in every scene, every music score and every performance from both Japanese and the English dubbed. It's just a wonderfully made film that is just beautiful to look at with its amazing animation and character.
While romance is a core element of the film, there is also a wonderful message about allowing yourself to be able to pursue what you want without being shackled by your own situation.
...
It's a sweet and heart-warming film that you will no doubt enjoy.

After finally finishing the manga of Horimiya, I originally thought of giving it a rating of 9 but after some thought I think it's more deserving of an 8.
Art: 9/10
The artstyle is phenomenal, there is no doubt about that. Every character is uniquely designed and the art style is never ugly to look at or unclear what is going on.
Characters: 9/10
One of the biggest selling point of this series is the characters. Every character has distinct personalities and their own personal struggles which keeps you invested. Additionally, the banter between them are absolutely enjoyable to read.
Story: 5/10
This is the reason why I gave it an
...
8 instead of a 9. There is some compelling story in here such as bullying, depression and of course romance. There are also a lot of just comedy chapters with nothing much happening which is fine. The big problem though is the last 3rd of this series where nothing happens at all. There is no build up to anything so when graduation happens, it just kind of comes out of nowhere. Furthermore, because of the huge cast, the main couple start having less and less screentime as the series goes on. The ending is also a massive disappointment as I feel they wasted the opportunity to see our characters grown up. There are also some loose plot threads that are not even resolved by the end which makes it feel incomplete.
Enjoyment: 8/10
Still, it's a very good romcom despite it's weak story. The series is carried by it's great characters and art style that you will no doubt never be bored reading it.

I never read the manga before watching The Promised Neverland season 1 and 2. The first season is so amazing and is very close to a masterpiece. So my anticipation for season 2 was straight through the roof. I did know that it wasn't following the manga which did give me some warning signs to lower my expectation as that isn't usually a good sign.
The first 3 episodes of season 2 were pretty good. I liked its exploration of the outside and it introduced 2 new interesting characters, Sonju and Mujika. However, the middle part of this series slows down dramatically by having a
...
lot of talking and mundane things happening. Ironically, this is the part where the manga readers say it deviates and my god is it noticeable. There was literally an episode about eating a fish and literally shopping. It was quite boring and disappointing as these episodes don't do enough world building.
Near the last 3rd of the anime the pacing decided to become insanely fast. They breeze through everything and introduce a bunch of characters with little to no build up or even character exploration. Things were starting to happen because the series needed to end now. What is the most insulting thing was that the series ends with a POWERPOINT PICTURE SLIDESHOW! These pictures could have been the season 3 or season 4 of the show but they decided to just it in a couple of pictures instead. What a terrible and rushed ending.
The series also ruined Emma and Ray's character. None of them retain any of their smarts and wit from the first season and instead become one note characters. Emma is now the "this is good" and "this is bad person" while Ray is just Emma's sidekick now. They completely butchered these characters...
After watching season 2, I gave the manga a read and I can genuinely understand why manga readers were so upset. The manga had great world building, lots of new great characters, lots of tension like that in season 1, some really good story arcs, plus Emma and Ray still retained their smart and wit.
I'll admit that even in the manga, none of the story arcs is as good as the first arc but it is definitely better than whatever this anime was.
Overall: This season is a complete let down. Just go read the manga instead...

Noblesse is the third Crunchyroll Webtoon anime adaptions. The first Kami no Tou (Tower of God) was all right and deserving of a second season, the second The God of High School has cool fights and animation but is bad in everything else. I've read the webtoon for Noblesse and was looking forward to this but does Crunchyroll strike with this 3rd one?
Story: 5/10
The anime starts off poorly because the 1st episode made me lost and would no doubt make loads of other people lost. It is actually a sequel to an OVA that came out 4 years ago, Noblesse Awakening. The anime could have
...
done a recap at the beginning of this or something but nope which caused much confusion. After this the pacing was way too fast! They were breezing through everything to the point that so many things were cut from the Webtoon including characters. One of the best arcs in the series, season 3 of the Webtoon, is done in just 4 episodes which shows how rushed it was. It's a shame as Noblesse first a couple of seasons are very good but are done extremely poorly here.
Art: 3/10
I'm very disappointed in the art and animation here. Of the 3 webtoon anime adaptions, this is no doubt the worst looking one with boring fight scenes. It's not very exciting to look out but you're not going to want to gouge your eyes out either. It's just boring.
Sound: 6/10
The Opening and Endings are phenomenal. The soundtrack itself is just average but occasionally decent.
Characters: 4/10
Due to the poor pacing, character development is butchered. Some don't act the way they should from the Webtoon or are not developed enough. This leads to some poor attachment to some characters.
Enjoyment: 4/10
As a fan of the webtoon this is quite a gut punched honestly. Crunchyroll does not succeed with this series or do it justice. I think the crunchyroll anime adaptions just got worse with each iteration as The God of High School was also quite bad and that is a big shame. I don't want a season 2 for this series if this is the level we are getting. Just go read the webtoon.
I still hope Kami no Tou gets a season 2 though because that was pretty good.

Jun Maeda is like the M. Night Shyamalan of the anime scene. Started off really good with Air, Kanon, Clannad, Angel Beats and Little Busters. However, recently he hasn't been doing so well with Rewrite being mediocre and Charlotte being an absolute disappointment. So with "Kamisama ni Natta Hi" is he still in the bad phase or is this going to be the "Split" movie for him?
Story: 2/10
The story starts off very promising, a girl with precognition abilities warns our main lead Youta that the world is going to end in 30 days. After witnessing the effectiveness of her abilities, he is like maybe she
...
does have precognition abilities. This is in the first episode and then after this, it is barely relevant. I kept watching episodes wondering if this is going to be relevant but by episode 6 you can probably guess the "twist" and it is absolutely lame.
Each episode is just some slapstick comedy with something happening or it's a supporting character spotlight for the day or something. There also some serious thing happening sometimes with a hacker dude but it only amounts to something near the end but by this point, the series is a drag to get through. The serious stuff is just uninteresting and didn't make me feel anything whatsoever. I teared up in Clannad and Angel Beats but here I just wanted it to be over.
Art: 6/10
For the most part, it's all right. There some nice shots in the anime and the character designs are all quite nice.
Sound: 7/10
If Jun Maeda is good at anything then it is great music. The music is pretty good with a really good opening and ending. The soundtrack shines in "emotional" moments but it doesn't work as effectively because the story itself is bad.
Character: 2/10
Youta is one of the worst Key/Jun Maeda main characters EVER. He is so dumb it is baffling. Near the last 3 episodes, he is so borderline irritating that you really want to punch him the face. There is not much to his personality and he may be one of the most generic protagonists in Jun Maeda works. Apart from wanting to be Kyouka's boyfriend and being a siscon and yelling "Hina!" a lot, he is plain boring. I detested him.
Hina herself is not that great either. She is definitely more quirky than other characters but all she really does is yell "Odin" and that shes god most of the time. The relationship between her and Youta is very brother and sister-like which was nice to see but then the series decided that their relationship isn't like that which is complete BS. The romance between these two don't work whatsoever and it feels cheap.
The rest of the supporting characters are irrelevant and wasted. Kyouka gets a lot of build-up to being relevant in the openings and a couple of episodes then her episode comes and it's not even that emotional and kind of stupid. She gets a phone that apparently can contact the dead and she just straight up believes it which is so dumb. After that, she becomes completely irrelevant which irritated me considering the opening seems to suggest her and Youta's relationship might be explored more BUT NOOO. What a waste of a character. Youta's best friend Ashura gets an episode dedicated to him too but it's just about him hurting his leg and is just cheesy and cringe.
There is a serious story happening as well in the series with hacker dude Hiroto. His character may be the most interested but the series doesn't utilise his character effectively. He doesn't even interact with the main cast until near the end for one episode. He is working for this CEO and she is built up as potential villain but this doesn't amount to anything either. It seems she adopts Hiroto and may be a mother like figure but for the most part in the anime they are just antagonistic with each other with the CEO's men beating him up a lot of time. There could've been something interesting with the relationship between the two but nope.
Enjoyment: 3/10
This series was such a let down and I think Jun Maeda is getting worst. The score isn't lower simply because the first half of the series with its comedy was genuinely quite funny. It just feels like the series should've stuck to its initial premise instead of trying to "subvert" expectations. Jun Maeda is still in the bad phase but hopefully he does pick himself up with something good. Honestly, he should finish of those Angel Beat visual novel volumes which he promised...

Story: 7/10
For the first half, the story is very reminiscent of "Suicide Squad". A bunch of Akudamas, basically fugitives, including a normal innocent girl get bombs wrapped around their neck as they do this very dangerous mission. This is the fun part of the anime and it is sprinkled with some mystery in there as well. The first 6 episodes are very exciting and the action is phenomenal. The second half of the anime is where things start to take a dip. It's pacing is really slow and it's more focused on just trying to wrap up everything. It has some action scenes but they're
...
not as visually pleasing. Episode 7-11 just feels like a drag to watch but the final episode does sort of make it worth it with how ballsy it is. Despite that, episode 12 does feel incredibly rushed it tying all loose ends and even then it feels like the ending leaves more questions than answers. If this anime doesn't get a season 2 then the ending isn't that great.
Art: 8/10
The art style and animation are really good but that is what I expect from the creator of Danganronpa. The cyberpunk world feels dark, yet full of life and the outside world is empty but beautiful. There are some fight scenes in the earlier episodes that are gorgeous and a horror type episode in the second half that is quite creepy. The animation remains really good throughout the series. The reason the score isn't higher is simply that in the second half the animation never does anything bold like the first half with its gorgeous cinematography.
Sound: 8/10
The opening is an absolute banger and the ending is great. Both the openings and endings are unique and fits the tone of the series very well. The score is quite exciting and sombre when it needs to. The reason the score isn't higher though is simply because there isn't a song that would make you want to find it on youtube type of feeling.
Character: 6/10
The characters all have unique designs and also their unique personalities and quirks. They are all memorable and stick in your mind. You will no doubt care about the things the characters will go through. However, this anime doesn't spend a lot of time developing the backstory of these Akudama's including ordinary girl. Cutt throat has a certain obsession with red that isn't explained and the Brawler likes fighting I guess. We never get a "why?" which is disappointing. The story also wastes the potentially interesting arc for "Apprentice" in the second half which is such a shame as she started off strong and eventually became absolutely irrelevant.
Enjoyment: 7/10
It's a fun series and will no doubt leave a good impression on you. It isn't as strong as it could've been in the second half but it still is a fun series and I kind of want a season 2.
