Damn that previous text I put here didn't age well. guess I will update it now.
Okay, I'm now a weathered anime/manga veteran that is pretty bitter with the current state of the manga/anime industry.
I'm appalled at the flood of subpar escapism stories flooding the market and websites with lazy writing, bad use of clichés and laughable lack of sense for scale.
The days of stories with degrees of struggles and gains where characters are given some leeway of growth and goals are reached step by step are becoming a thing of the past with these modern power fantasies filled with instant gratification and practically zero accountability.
Now that doesn't say it's all bad. There are plenty of new gems and styles of manga/anime created with the otome genre coming back in full swing and the Isekai actually evolving albeit slowly. Art styles are improving a lot becoming cleaner and easier to read. This gives me some hopes that there will in the future be more gems of good manga stories to enjoy. No story is without it's flaws but when the story teller can create a balance to help the reader overcome those issues they truly have succeeded in doing something great.
