Attack on titan Ova is a side story that compliments season 1 as it happens before or in its time frame. Out of the three episodes 2 are serious and one is more like a comedy sketch.
The first episode is straight from the manga, I remember seeing this story quite early in the manga, like literally from the first or second chapter. The story adds a great bit of mystery to the titans and I think it sets up the vibe for the future story nicely since the series has ended and we already know how it has ended. Definitely a core episode of season
...
1.
The second episode is more like a comedy side story, a literal food battle between Sasha and Jean.I swear Jean gets the best character development in season 1. The episode was kind of funny, but what gets me every time is how the show uses AOT’s original OST for some of the most ridiculously funny scenes. It sounds so hilariously awkward.
The third episode is a slightly more serious episode about bandits during one of the main cast’s training mission. It’s an okay episode with not much significance to the main plot. Here the OST kind of feels off too. AOT’s action OST is usually used for fighting titans outside the walls, but seeing it used for fighting bandits kind of feels weird.
Overall, with one great episode and two average episodes. AOT’s season 1 OVAs are worth watching.

So here I am rewatching the series from the start again and after knowing the whole plot it’s great to see how well the characters are being developed. AOT's first season had a huge cast of characters, and it balanced them well, this time the characters have been reduced to half the size, but the side characters get more development.
Plot:
The show’s plot moves more slowly this time, there aren’t many huge, bloody fights as compared to the first season. This time the show works on side characters like Connie, Krista, Ymir, Reiner, Bredholt. The show is also said to have one of the best villains
...
reveals in all of anime and I agree with the, the animation, music and voice acting done in that scene is perfect. The side- side characters are reduced in number this time as well. I feel there were a few memorable side-side character deaths as compared to the first season and a lot of random unknown character deaths. The plot’s pacing is nice and slow and works in favor of the side characters and establishing the world around them.
Animation:
Animation is top notch just like the previous season. I’m looking at the date of release of the second season and can’t believe we waited four years for this. These days seasonal anime come around a year’s gap. No wonder Mappa released the final season in parts over the course of three years. I think making an anime of this caliber takes time. I still feel the animation is just slightly lower, there aren’t more beautiful sunlit scenes like in the first season but I’m glad they lowered the still action frames that were common in the first season. Some people complain about one of the titans being CGI, it was annoying, but that thing had very little moving screen time.
Music:
Hiroyuki Sawano is at it again. The music sounds great, though it’s not as iconic as the original OST but there are some great movements in the soundtrack. The overly famous track “YouSeeBIGGIRL_T_T” reutilizes “Vogel Im Kafig”, hell there are a lot of tracks being re-utilized here and I’m glad because the original soundtrack of AOT is like a fingerprint identity of the show, new tracks will never feel at home. There are some new tracks as well “ape titan” is pretty good too and I know it will be used in future episodes too. Overall great epic orchestral soundtrack with electronic and world music traits.
Overall, the anime is great. A great continuation of the original series with almost the same quality. Definitely a watch if you’ve already seen the first series. This show is slowly building a puzzle piece one at a time and the final puzzle will be revealed somewhere around season 4 and watching the series is worth it till that point.

I’ve seen the series a decade ago when it started airing, I read the manga when it ended and here I am back again rewatching the series from start to finish. I’ve forgotten how intense the first season of the anime was. The action starts right away and it’s nonstop. Along with a huge cast of characters there were some amazing side characters and some amazing side-side characters. It’s great how this anime handles its random side characters.
Plot:
At my first watch a decade ago I thought the plot was great but not anything spectacular, but after seeing the series end and witnessing all the world
...
and plot building, I think the plot of this season was amazing and all the tiny details were pretty cool. This anime made giants popular as horror movie monsters. I swear if Hollywood makes any movie with giants, we’ll just call it an Attack on Titan rip off. The world building is amazing, even though the first season is more based in action and giants, there are subtle hints at the world building, and it slowly establishes itself. The idea of walls, the cities and districts, the different factions within their army/police are done very well. I have to give the plot a 10/10.
Characters:
Let’s get straight to the facts: the main trio of characters are a bit shonenish, but the side characters are a treat. After rewatching this for the third time I paid more attention to the side characters and I have to say they are very well done. People like ‘Alpha squad (Rico Brzenska, Ian Dietrich)’, ‘Levi Squad (Oluo Bozado, Petra Ral)’ were written really well. They had their own unique personalities. Apart from the main characters and the side-side characters. The main side characters had a good part too, I’d also forgotten how much part Jean had in the story. His character development was one of the best in the entire season. Overall AOT is probably one of the best examples of how to manage a huge cast of characters and make each one of them memorable.
Animation:
Ahhh a time before titans were CGI, though I have nothing against Mappa’s CGI but the anime has great animation, the scenes with the ODM gear are so well done especially when the start making hand drawn art do 360 camera spins, that shit was dope. The overall design of the anime is pretty unique with brownish color grading, the show looks very moody and architecture inspired by 1920’s Germany; the settings are gorgeous whether they are inside the cities or outside on the plains. The action scenes are well done too, everything is amazing. Though I think there are a lot of scenes where they just used still images for action scenes, it was a cool concept at the beginning but kind of got overused by the end.
Soundtrack:
The soundtrack of Attack on titan is one of the most memorable soundtracks I’ve heard in anime. I’m listening to it as I’m writing this review and guess what track is playing? Vogel Im Kafig. I have tears in my eyes, I’ve been listening to shit for a decade now and it never gets old.
Hiroyuki Sawano is to Attack on Titan what John Williams is to Jurassic Park and Star Wars. There is no Attack on Titan with this man. The orchestral music features epic rising ‘two steps of hell’ kind of music, the kind of music you hear in summer blockbuster trailers. They also have some world music inspired themes and there are a couple of rock songs thrown in there into the OST as well. The music is iconic with very memorable melodies.
Overall, Attack on Titan is hands down the anime of the decade. This anime will forever define the era of 2010 to 2020. Here’s to the people who will watch it in the future 2000 years from now, the kids that haven’t been born into this world, the people who haven’t dedicated their hearts to anime. Pick this up as your first anime and watch yourself spiral down into an endless beautiful world.
10/10 gateway anime for the new generation.

Trigun is an anime that has always had a special place in my heart since the day I watched it almost a decade ago. Vash for me is the most inspirational character and has shaped my personality and the pacifist in it a lot. Trigun is an anime from 1999, this aired at around the same time cowboy bebop was airing and it is kind of similar in terms of quality but the only thing I think it falls behind is the animation.
Plot/characters:
Trigun has good character building especially in the main character Vash. His whole plot revolves around pacifism and how to solve conflict with
...
it. The characters also have comedic traits to them too, as comedy is a good chunk of the dialogue, but during the first half you can feel there are hidden deeper personality traits within the characters that might be explored in future episodes and that’s exactly what happens. The second half starts off dropping comedy for more emotional dialogue and scenes of them having breakdowns. Vash’s breakdown in the second last episode is still one of the most haunting cries I’ve heard in anime.
The episodic side characters and villains might be forgettable as they are a bit one dimensional but their whole purpose was to develop the main characters.
Animation:
Animation isn’t top notch. I know this is the late 90’s but Cowboy bebop was dropping amazing animation each episode. The character movements can be a bit jerky, cartoony and there’s too little movement at times, but the character designs adapted from the manga are top notch.
Sound/music:
Trigun’s music is often mentioned. It is very wild west inspired music with acoustic blues rock, fiddles guitars and harmonicas. The music fits very well with the show’s cowboy/wild west themes. The sound design is okay, I guess nothing special when compared with other things from the era.
Final verdict:
This is a great show, if only the animation was also good it would have sat right there with Cowboy bebop in terms of fame. Everything else is there, great characters, great soundtrack, great design and themes. I highly recommend you watch this anime as the character interactions and dialogue still feel very modern, funny and you’ll be attached to the characters in no time.

The first thing that I immediately noticed while reading the Demon Slayer manga was how high Ufotable’s production pushes the anime. Once you strip the animation and soundtrack from the medium it immediately drops in quality. Still, the manga is very enjoyable and fun to read.
Story/characters: The manga some say is very shallow and there is truth to those words but it doesn’t make it boring in the slightest bit. All the characters are made of typical stereotypes found in the Shonen genre. Since, these characters and this plot archetype has been recurrently taking place since so many decades, the plot of the manga
...
is highly predictable. There are no bad endings in the story and the reader can predict them easily because the manga follows a set pattern in every arc. Even after all this the manga is still enjoyable to read. The villains have been interesting enough from start to finish and their backstories are pretty touching most of the time. The main cast’s simple character development is alright but could have really benefited with more depth especially the side characters. The show's upside downs are nice during the fight scene and some would call the upsides as “Ass pulls”. I always liked Tanjiro’s power ups, he keeps getting those till the last fight and even beyond that. They are done in a creative way that I don’t mind.
The peak of the manga was the entertainment district ark. Daki and Gyutaro were intense and very human villains, while the ups and downs of the battle kept me on the edge of my seat. The next best part was definitely the final infinity castle ark. Here the fights were high paced and high stakes. People say these episodes will really break the internet when the release on anime. I’m sure they will! All of them were very well done in terms of pacing, character usage (deaths) and flashbacks.
Art: Like I said before once you strip out Ufotable’s production the whole thing really loses its biggest charm. Demon Slayer is an action manga with high-speed sword fights. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel they were the best as I had trouble telling at times how and in which direction were the swords were moving. Other than that, most of the artwork was decent, the characters were well designed and really memorable. There wasn’t much scenery in the manga. I guess this is what the manga has going for it: memorable characters and decent sword action.
Overall, a very fun to read manga. It is simple and nothing life changing but it is enjoyable as hell.

I called the previous season of Demon Slayer peak Shonen, everything was perfect in the entertainment district ark. Here we see the third season dip in all aspects. Though it’s just a dip and not a hole, the show is incredibly fun to watch. Let’s talk about some of the things I liked and disliked.
Animation:
The animation during the starting fight scenes felt a little unpolished as compared to the previous seasons. The flying character felt it didn’t have weight and the overall movement of the characters didn't connect as fluently during the fights but after a little while the action fights start picking up
...
in quality especially during hinokami and mist breathing scenes. After this we manage to get good animation till the end as expected of Ufotable with great sword attack effects and quick moving characters. The opening scenes in infinity castle were really good and really set the mood.
Plot/theme:
Thankfully Inosuke and Zenitsu aren’t in this arc and we’re saved from their dumb comedy. Instead, we get some dumb comedy with the other sword smiths this time, oh yeah! The classic cringe Demon slayer style comedy! The Hashira’s and their backstories are good, the lore of the village is decent enough. The side characters Genya is pretty interesting. Someone on reddit called him “the smartest demon slayer”. Hell yeah! He definitely is. Using all sorts of hacks to fight demons. The villains I think the scenes with Muzan are a delight to watch, Muzan is a cold fu%ke4 and introduction to all the upper moons was nice. The main two villains of the show were a little bland this time. I remember in the previous episode defeating Gyutaro and Daki took everything from the protagonists, and it was hell before they finally got beheaded. Here the enemies seemed too easy to defeat. When the first one died, I was like “Wait? That easy? That was it? It’s over?” The second villain had a little more personality to him, so I think he was decent. Overall, the plot and its flow were good but not as good as the previous season. The final episode was good. It's one of my favorite episodes from the whole series, though it might get cheesy at times, but it made me lose a tear or two.
Soundtrack:
I really liked the soundtrack. There were some great places and scenes to put on the soundtrack and the composer did a really good job in doing it too. I love Akaza’s/upper moon, Mitsuri’s, Muichuro’s and sun halo themes. The theme which takes the cake is probably “Nezuko no Uta” a 7-minute song similar to the one from the first season and like how I called the “Tanjiro no uta” on the same level as “Vogel Im Kafig” I think this theme almost reaches the same level.
Conclusion:
Overall, this is a good season. If you are coming from the previous season, then you’ll notice a little decrease in quality but overall, still a very good Shonen/action anime that you can enjoy. The episodes keep you on the edge of your seat and make you want to binge the season one entire go.

I for one really enjoyed this season of Demon Slayer. Hell, here I go…..I’m saying this out loud….”This is peak Shonen animation”. This show was perfect in every aspect: the themes, the plot, the visuals, the soundtrack. Let me talk about the parts which I like the most:
Plot/theme: Demon Slayer has always been set in this 1920 era like Japan. Most of the previous arcs were set in rural areas but this time it’s a more crowded city district and not just any random district but an entertainment district filled with bars and red light stuff. The thing is I see a lot of Geisha
...
representation when the west shows Japanese culture in their pop culture, but I hardly see Geishas in anime. So, the whole theme of the entertainment district and Geishas in anime was new to me. Although there wasn’t much to show since more than half the season is fighting and action scenes, the parts with the Geishas and Tanjiro’s interactions with Oiran and the little girls were sweet.
Action/animation: The sword fighting animations were amazing before, but they were insane this time. You have two characters whose sword slashes are faster than the speed of sound and you bet your life they’d look amazing. Tanjiro’s sun breathing God mod was pretty epic and so was Zenitsu’s God speed. Everything was perfect and peak. I can’t even think the animation can go beyond this point.
Characters: I love the villains that dude was scary because of his uncanny body design and the other one; Daki, my lord she is fine 🥵. I love Daki’s design, from her Kimono wearing oiran look to the sexy villainous look. Tanjiro and Inouske were portrayed as their usual selves but my man Zenitsu as soon as the fighting began, he went into his bad ass sleep mode. Damn, Inosuke was right when he said, “you’re kind of cool, maybe you should always sleep like this”. Zenitsu went from my least favorite character to my favorite character this season. Hashira dude was nice and went from sexual harasser in ep1 to pretty flashy reliable dude till the final episode.
Ost: I’m listening to the ost right now. I think it works well with the action sequences but there isn’t any tune here that’s memorable on its own. I think it’s decent. The same orchestral traditional Japanese epic stuff that was present on the previous seasons.
Overall, Epic, Epic, Epic. This was great on every level, and I really enjoyed this arc. I hope from here on out we get flashy arcs like this till the climax of the series.

I watched this 7-episode anime without watching the movie. Demon Slayer has a bit of a reputation within the anime community, but everyone already knows that, and I think I don’t need to repeat it. Okay maybe I do, here it goes: “This anime too generic, this anime bad….me want complex plot, complex multilayered characters uwaaaahhhh”. I mean they do have a point but let's appreciate the show for what it is now, shall we?
Mugen train arc revolves on fighting demons on a…… you guessed it: A train. The villain for the series was introduced at the end of the previous season and I was
...
really hyped to see them fight our heroes. Rating the plot: the idea wasn’t bad; it wasn’t great either; It was decent. The setup that led to the dream sequence and then the dream sequences themself were decent, especially Tanjiro’s dreams, but I’d be damned if I mention Zenitsu’s and Inosuke’s dreams. I was wholly expecting some inner emotional battles like Tanjiro but they turned their dreams into jokes. Well, after that the action sequences were good. The sword fighting and its animation was top notch. The fighting kept me on the edge of my seat and it didn't stop till the end. The second villain’s fight and his theme was bad ass. Though at the end the crying and whining was a bit cringy especially Inosuke. I think I’d like to talk about that; why was Inosuke crying for a person he met just a few hours ago. He was pretty much ready to kill civilians that sided with demons and till this point has been shown to not care about others. Maybe I just missed his character detail and he’s just a crybaby under all that toughness.
Overall, I think this show was decent. I think the movie format would be better for people watching it for the first time. It’s a decent action Shonen with great fights and animation, who doesn’t love those.

Intro
Demon Slayer is kind of an anomaly in the anime community. An anime that has brought the Shonen genre to its peak. Great animation, a decent plot, and characters with the traditional anime personas. But the problem lies that half the community hates this show dearly, because It’s too “anime” for them. For them the show doesn’t deserve the recognition it gets because it doesn’t break boundaries or introduce something new. That’s understandable, this isn’t Evangelion or FLCL. It’s a story that has been told countless times since Shonen's inception but what it does is everything with peak perfection.
Animation
The animation is very fluid. Ufotable
...
like always is firing on all cylinders because it’s the same people who made amazing series like Fate/Zero. The character designs, the environments, the cinematography and the biggest most beautiful thing: the amazing attack animations. The water, fire and lighting effects and designs coming out of swords are so beautiful. They remind me of Japanese Ukiyo-e paintings.
Plot/Characters
The plot and characters like I’ve said before are very traditional anime personas. The main character is a “as good as can be; savior of humanity”, his sister is a kawaii demon stress reliever, his friends: one an annoying meat head and the other a scaredy cat pervert. I like the main character Tanjiro though. I think I might be simple minded, but I really find him inspiring, Nezuko and Inosuke are cool but Zenitsu is hell’a annoying.
The plot revolves around demons versus sword wielding samurai. Each demon having a depressing flashback before the die to give the anime that extra zeal and not making the villain characters two dimensional. Though this is nothing new, it’s always been the trend to give an anime villain a good flashback motive since the Naruto and HxH days. The different arcs in this season are good and have good lengths. I never felt bored throughout watching it and was totally sucked in.
Soundtrack
I’m listening to the soundtrack while writing the review. It has its memorable crescendos. Some parts hit really hard, some go over the head; neglected. Overall, it's very good as compared to some of the other shows in the genre. There’s a mix of traditional Japanese, orchestral sounds and some electronic elements. “Tanjiro no Uta” is gorgeous, this is the anime’s “Vogel Im Kafig” with a memorable vocal melody, orchestral instruments and a structure with many ups and downs.
Conclusion
Demon Slayer is a great show. It builds upon years of Shonen themes and tropes and perfects them in every way while not straying from the roots and staying pretty standard in the plot department. Plus, this show only gets better from here on out. The next 2 anime arcs push the show into a higher dimension and give it slightly more originality.

Watching Yuru camp has been a sort of personal vacation for me. A vacation from the extreme amount of action, fantasy, sci-fi anime that I and most viewers usually watch. The genre is called ‘Iyashikei’ which roughly translates to therapy or healing. This anime is as ‘slice of life’ as the genre can get, with a very plotless scenario that concentrates more on character development, exploration and just all on good vibes.
Theme/plot/characters: I really liked the way this show handles itself. Even though I just said the show is plotless but not for one second the show made me bored. The character interactions are
...
unique, if you look up on YouTube, you’ll find many videos on how the show celebrates introverts. The main character’s introversion and all the other characters respecting that and not using some anime ‘power of friendship’ trope to change the character’s personality is really healthy to watch. The relations between each character feel natural. The overall vibe of the show is very cutesy from Nadeshiko’s “Sumaho….Sumaho….Sumaho…” to Rin’s tailgating a car with a dog in it.
Animation: Most of the characters are drawn in a Moe - cutesy way. The art style of the animated characters really reflects that. From the human drawings to the animals and even some inanimate objects like lamps, cooking utensils and the scooter. There isn't much high-quality flow in the movement, but it conveys its meaning in its cute intention.
Soundtrack: I’m listening to the soundtrack as I’m writing this review. It’s absolutely joyful. There are some tracks that have a Celtic acoustic feel to them and then there are some tracks that have a western country music feel to them. You’ll hear from slow to mid paced acoustic guitars, banjos, flutes and fiddle that are accompanied by a band. The soundtrack does its job to compliment the show’s atmosphere. There are some memorable tracks in the OST that will sit with you even after watching the show.
Final verdict: A circle shaped gem in a sea of triangles and squares. Yuru camp is sure to bring a smile on your face and bring inner happiness. I really recommend this show if you want to break from your fast paced routine of binge-watching action anime and take a virtual camping break to slow down the pace.
