The show is written extremely terribly, yet here I am still watching it. Our MC is a literal psychopath who wants to exterminate his own race, we then learn that he just doesn’t care; he just wants to punish the world, at least it seemed that way to me.

This shows the definition of so bad it's good. What’s mainly keeping me around are the plot points, as subpar as they are. The revenge is enacted so badly, the humans lack a basic moral compass, and our MC’s so fixated on revenge that he involves innocent people —bro just doesn’t care. ... In addition, the anime overuses gore for the sake of shock value; to the point where we the audience have gotten desensitized to it. You can't even sympathize with the main character, unlike Chloe, Doroka, and the innocent civilians. Adonis goes on and on about his fight for quote-unquote “revenge”, but his actions just make him seem like an unhinged psychopath —itching for any excuse to bring genocide on his own race. What irritates me the most are the people drawing parallels to Adonis and Eren Yeager. Despite both committing literal genocide, at least Eren had a reason. Adonis on the other hand is a literal psychopath, forget killing the KIng or military, let me kill my entire race. People were actively praising that he’s different, and quote un quote “stands on business”. These same people were also dogging Doroka for being the literal voice of reason; expressing how annoying and naive she was to them —and glad that her talk no jutsu didn’t work on Adonis. So I'm not really shocked the anime has a 7.11 rating on MAL. Don't get me wrong, the show does have some minor philosophical elements, but it's written so two-dimensionally for me to care. I'm only really interested to know how this cesspool ends, especially with how Adonis, the Queens, and Doroka all have different motives. The Kingdom of Ruin comes off as if were written by an edgy teen. I give it a 5/10, I’ll try to finish this season don't know about the second :P

Funny enough, I initially wanted to watch this because of a cool edit I saw on Instagram, the actual anime's a whole different story though. The animation was well done for the most part but could get questionable at times. —The fights were like this too, the choreography was just inconsistent, and characters felt like they were brake-dancing half the time.

I did enjoy seeing Aya solve mysteries tho. But after deep inspection, I found that her skills were only as amazing as the plot wanted them to be. This is evident in how she brings up stuff that we "the audience" weren't shown. Nonetheless, ... it was fun to watch. I don't know if I'll tune in for season 2 though. 6/10

This series is unapologetically mediocre, to say the least. First, let's start with the art. The art isn't breathtaking per se, but is very visually pleasing. It complements the story along with its world and characters extremely well. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for the story. Long story short, it's convoluted. Emotional scenes carry no merit, I don't know whether to laugh or cringe half the time. This show also has a weird fixation on Vanitas and Noe, plot twist it ain't no JoJo bromance (but the friendship is there). The show quite literally ships them despite both having an obvious love interest. ... —And lastly, most of the plot points feel very predictable and cliche.

Nonetheless, I think we could have really had something here. The lore, setting and characters were quite fascinating. — But like Fireforce this show had top-notch animation with a subpar story and plot points. Don't get me wrong the story sounds good on paper but the way this anime executed it was horrible. It felt very miss-queued and incoherent, which is probably why it took me so long to finish it —despite finishing the first season in 2 days.

The animation was as basic as it could be, but the plot made me not care. If wasted potential was a person, it would be this anime and its MC. The show had a very interesting premise, that honestly shook me to my core. I know a lot of people in my friend group; both online and in real life who live and exhibit similar behaviour to our MC. I really wanna write an essay on how story/linear games are better than live service and multiplayer games, but I won't!

Nonetheless, this anime really had the potential to tell a dark phenomenal realistic story ... with some deep complex emotional and relational topics. It had leeway to dive and explore the philosophy of truly living and the psychological effects of gaming or being online. What made me initially watch this anime was a clip of a character dying in-game because of an enemy (The Black Bird) to then having to deal with said enemy in real life. But even that was ruined! In addition to this, Pico finding out she was an AI, was honestly when this show peaked “plot-wise”, before crashing and burning.

Pico was best girl :P

Introduction:

I love a story with great character development, but more than that I love a story with a message and Vinland Saga is just that. Based on historical events and Norse legends, Vinland Saga continues to enthrall me with its intricate storytelling, complex characters, and breathtaking animation. The first season was a remarkable journey of the Viking world, it introduced us to great characters such as Askalade, Thorfinn and Canute. The second however takes us deeper into the hearts of its Viking world and fully develops the world and its characters. It heavily touches on character goals, vengeance, duty, honour, and their relentless pursuit of ... personal identity.

Body Paragraph:

Thorfinn is no doubt a troubled character who has had to grow up in what I can only describe as hell. But at the end of the day, for better or worse, he's killed people. So many to the point where he's lost count. In the first season, he has no emotions, gets manipulated by his enemy, and lives a miserable life just for the sake of revenge. You don't hate him but you also don’t like him. You feel sad for him, at least I did.

Conversely, this season he's finally awakened. He can see through people's intentions through his past experiences, and despite being a slave, he is no longer a slave to revenge. He’s also able to reflect on his wrongdoings. Thorfinns has actually developed true goals and ambitions, making him not only likable but alive at the same time. I personally loved the way the anime took its time with him. From eavesdropping on Snake reading the Bible about loving your enemy, resorting to peace instead of violence, and atoning for his wrongdoings through labour. I'm sure there are many other examples, but all this shows change. I think the most important lesson for him was when he finally realized what his father Thors, along with his ancestors were trying to do all along. —Making for some great foreshadowing.

Moving on to Canute, It's clear that the series has built him up as the main antagonist. Creating a parallel with Thorfinn; with their shared goal of ending war and conflict. But what truly separates them are their chosen paths to said goal. Canute, a once devoted Christian; now an atheist, is fighting God for peace on Earth. Meanwhile, Thorfinn, a theist, now embodies Christian values as he seeks to establish peace on Earth. Despite their shared goals, Canute's methods make him no better than the very evil he aims to eradicate.

Music & Animation:

I personally saw nothing wrong with the animation. I still prefer Witts Studio after looking back on season one. MAPPA however still delivered. I have no complaints aside from some minor nitpicks such as still shots used in scenes. In addition to this, some scenes felt a bit dragged to pad the episode time, but it didn’t bother me too much. The background shots look incredible, especially the landscape of the farm. The soundtrack was incredibly well done as well interim of setting the overall tone. Whether opening or ending, I really loved the theme song, especially from LMYK (Without Love) so much that I’ve added it to my Spotify.

Characters:

One flaw was the side characters. To be frank, they weren't as interesting as the ones from the season one. That's not entirely a bad thing because Snake, Pater Enir, Arnheid, and Sverkell were great. I don't feel as if we needed them to be anything more than that, they just weren't as memorable or impactful as the ones from season one. As for Arnheid's character arc. It was nice but felt a bit stretched or dragged, especially with the flashbacks. And just when I thought her pain and suffering ended, that narcissist Ketil showed his true colours. Don't get me wrong it was gut-wrenching to watch but still didn't change the way I felt about Arnheid.On the other hand, it was nice to see Olmar's character development. I honestly didn't see it coming. I'm still bummed out that they didn't get revenge for Arnheid, but that wouldn't really make that much sense.

Closing thoughts:

In conclusion, this season was as intense and thrilling as ever. Going in, I was initially scared because of the noise the community was making, but it turned out it was all rubbish. I've never been so disappointed in my community. I find it absurd that people were calling this season a farming simulator. I keep seeing review after review calling this season boring, slow, etc. —Were they even listening to the story and the message it was trying to convey? Did they actually read the dialogue at all? The fact that people care more about mindless gore and violence; over a well-written story is beyond me. It unironically makes them sound like Vikings. The only valid criticism I could understand is animation and pacing. At the end of the day, this a seine anime and reviews like this are why children should look elsewhere.

Besides some minor nitpicks, MAPPA absolutely delivered. I really enjoyed Thorfinn's character development along with the rest of the cast, especially Canute. Above all, the animation along with the music was solid. Mature members of the audience will love this season as it really embodied the seinen genre extremely well, at times feeling like a cinematic work of art.
This was a worthy successor to the first season. Yes, I will admit it was slow, but we kind of needed it to be. Thorfinn got character development that takes some characters hundreds of chapters/episodes. I really enjoyed the writing and overall messaging. "You have no enemies; no one in the world is your enemy. There is no one you need to hurt." I'm glad Thorfinn took after his father and is continuing his path. Thors was truly ahead of his time. I can't wait for season 3.

Deep down I actually wanted to like this show, but with the horrible writing, two-dimensional characters and awful Roblox CGI I just couldn't. In addition to this, both MCs were insufferable, especially Hitomi. The show constantly put her on a pedestal. It was so bad you knew what was gonna happen next.

Moreover, I'm not one to complain about sexual themes in anime especially when they're done right, but this anime clearly didn't care. It was all eye candy. From clothes ripping, panty shots, and even rape-related scenes. I may be asking too much, but if the show spent half the time developing the female ... cast instead of sexualizing them I might have hated it a little less.

I wasn't lying when I said I wanted to like this show. Past its horrible writing, It actually had some unique and interesting ideas, but they all failed completely because of the way in which they were executed. In my opinion, the ending was probably the best part of this show and I'm not just saying that because it ended. I actually wanted to know what happened next.

Despite what I said it wasn't all bad. The animation for the most part was good. And despite lacking tactics and finesse the fights for the most part were entertaining. If it weren't for the fights I honestly don't think I'd finished this show. At times it's so bad that it's good. But even when something is so bad that it's good, it's still objectively bad.

I know this is an adaptation of a game but I'm critiquing the anime independently:

The anime is mediocre at best, and that's a damn shame since it has unique character designs, (like Kara's and Yuel's curves), a nice setting, and is well-animated. It basically had a lot of potential and all the factors to be a good anime, but ultimately fell short.

This anime's for people who want to be introduced to Granblue before trying the game, or for those who already play it and want some eye candy.

I don't know why but since episode one I just didn't like Lyria. And I knew damn ... well that plot armour wasn't gonna kill her since no one dies in this show. the animation was beautiful and so was Yuel.
Yuel was best girl :P

What a waste of time. I dropped it because of how garbage it was but I decided to finish it because I was trying to finish animes that I paused/judged too harshly.

—It took me a good 4 and a half years to complete this awful series, and that ending on season 2 was just straight-up garbage. What a waste of time a 12-year-old could have thought of that conclusion. Most episodes are rehashes of the first and lack a lot of substance.
I would rather hear the sound of a bullet go through my head than hear some characters talk. Lastly, I know most ... characters need a psych test, but if there's anyone that really needs one it's Yumeko and Ikishima.

P.S SOME EPISODES PUT ME TO SLEEP SO I WOULD SWITCH IT TO DUB, BUT THAT ONLY SPED UP THE PROCESS 4.5/10 :P

Honestly wish had I appreciated ReLIFE more. Even though many shows have used similar narrative styles, some of which executed it better, I still believe ReLIFE is a solid show that deserves praise. 7.5/10 rating for me personally, but a solid 8/10 or higher for the average/new viewers.


ReLIFE will teach you about the innocence of youth and the regrets that come with adulthood. Solid show and a good watch.

I really loved the premise, it reminded me of "17 Again" the movie.

I wish we had heavier plot points like they weren't bad or anything but some big incident or juicy dramatic drama would ... be great. a lot of it seemed tame and easy to resolve. I really loved Hishiro's back story.

At times I thought Kariu was gonna fall for Kaizaki, not that I wanted it but I felt a setup happing as the story went, guess I was wrong.
The anime was a good watch it did feel a bit rushed though.

I just rewatched the movie again, mainly for those budget-less fight sequences.

Berserker is an actual demon; my guy makes the Hulk look like a junkie on roids; the dude was testing Saber.

*update* Omg, omg omg!!! Yooo! go to the 00:57:58 mark of the movie and slow it down; this demon Berserker poped Sabers breast plat/chest armour (cause he wanted to grab them melons), and immediately after that, she showed him what's up - it's really fast so slow it down. Animation along with the OST was out of this world, is this even anime at this point? And that cliffhanger, like come on ... don't do that to me. I don't wanna wait another 2 years to see the rest...
