I took WAAAAY took long getting around to this anime.
I just finished it after a week binge and...
Wow.
This is one of the best pieces of fiction of all time. The world building, the characters, and the writing, i think they far outweigh some of the other big animes i have watched. With HxH, i actually felt like the relationships between the characters were REAL.
It was so perfect and beautifully written, i found myself crying at some points and hysterically laughing at others.
This is one of those animes, where i just felt like i needed more and more and more. I found myself continually
...
watching all day until i physically couldn't anymore. (in between jobs :P) I literally would wake up out of bed around 12am, turn on hunter x hunter, and watch til 2am at night. This is one my favorite shonen animes of all time. I put it right there next to the original DBZ. And I was a huge fan of that. I actually think its better in some terms. I think on account of the world building, not just the character building. The worlds in DBZ just feel like places to be destroyed in DBZ, nothing special.
Where as in THIS, i wanted to BE THERE!!! MAKE ME A HUNTER!!! AAHHH!!
Thats genuinely how my emotions feel towards this anime. Screaming emotions for it!!
Also, the opening OP grows on you, and the Ending OPs are some of the best i've seen all time! The last ending OP is probably my favorite ending op ever, next to inuyasha.
The only thing i felt iffy about was the Ant saga since it felt so out of left field, but it really wrapped up nicely and did what it needed to do! it got its point across beautifully, and ended even more beautifully!
I would say, Hunter X Hunter is the perfect anime to go into manga, since the anime leaves off right before a large new arch, with characters that are legendary to the series!
Yes. You NEED to watch this anime!!. ITS REQUIRED!!! Haha!!.

The Big O is truly a unique masterpiece of storytelling and art. Its such a big twist for an ending that left the watcher with a grim and upsetting, yet calming feeling. It leaves no answers, it leaves it entirely up to the ready to decide, but its not hard to determine what the ending means truly.
The thing about this anime is, i feel as if there was a different ending planned when it was originally made versus when it actually ends. Theres so many questions left unanswered, and that is truly upsetting. But even still, the ending we're given is just as good,
...
and is filling for what we went through with the seasons.
There's no stone left unturned for characters in this, everyone is dealt with magnificently and given their arc, and even expanded on after the fact. It's truly a loving a wonderful piece of film. So much love went into this anime with western film classics and so obviously batman, but its just its blended so perfectly to be its own thing. I'm left wanting even more after it finished, of the aesthetics of this show, the style, the setting, the characters, the story telling; nothing truly has come close to matching the Big O in this regard. It has this western dark film noir setting that I just haven't been able to find in other animes at all, and which i find truly alluring and enticing to search for and embrace again and again.
Please watch this anime. You will be happy you did.

This was awful. I laughed at some parts and found myself cheering for the main character of the first episode til it roundabouted back into me hating everyone.
There is no one to like in this anime.
This is shit you want to watch when you're very high and want a good laugh and maybe a wank if youre really into anime titties. NOT something you watch with friends. I watched the dub, which was horrible, and the sub, which was equally horrible.
I have no idea how i found this, i think i wanted a cute romance anime from the 90s but this ended up being
...
just a slap in the face to my humility and self respect as an anime watcher. It makes me understand why none of the cool kids watched anime in the 90s-2000s. I TOTALLY GET IT now. Lol. Fucking horrible, abysmal, deprecating, you might want to shower after watching or vomit, but still tolerable. I finished it out cause it was 2 episodes but it was a complete waste of time. If i wanted to watch a story about sociopath women i would go outside.

It's a visual mess, shot much a indie film. A non linear timeline, a bit of a confusing story with non fleshed out characters. But in it's shortness, it does captivate the watcher, it's interesting to say the least. The aesthetic, the characters, the plot, the way its shot, it's an interesting piece. I ended up crying in the last 10 minutes, and for that, I think it deserves praise. However, would I recommend it? Not neccessarily. This a bit of a laborous watch due to it's non-linear storyline, but it really DRAWS out emotion ;)
I would only recommend this to those who enjoy art
...
and analyzing it, which is quite fitting considering the plot.
Much love.
