This series looks at the bright side of a zombie apocalypse. The whole world is ending, so at least have some fun!
For me, this may be the biggest surprise of the season. I typically don't like zombie movies or series, but this one with it's comedy and I think almost slice of life genre really catched my interest.
From the looks of it, this series won't provide you with a deep narrative, (although this may change in the later episodes, who knows) so it really leans into it's comedy aspects. The protagonist and the second protagonist become larger than life characters at the start of the
...
apocalypse. They are basically untouchable with infinite plot armor. What this means is that there isn't a real threat of the protagonist dying, instead you watch them have some fun for the first time in over three years and maybe lift a few other characters out of their misery during the apocalypse.
For my rating, I use a few charactaristics of the show and rate them from 0 to 5. I then take the average and multiply it by two to get a MAL score. Keep in mind that this rating is subjective and only represents how I personally felt about certain aspects of the show.
Visuals: 4.5/5
There is a lot to like here. The series has a uniqe style which lets it stand out visualy from your standard shows. The animation quality is also on a high level, just don't expect something like chainsaw man or the sakuga parts of Demon Slayer. But overall I was extremely positively surprised, especially because this is the studios first show.
Characters: 3.5/5
If you currently don't like your job, you will have an easy time of feeling with the protagonist. And even if not, his bubbly personality is hard to hate and most scenes he is in just put a smile on my face.
The only other major character we saw until now is the second protagonist, which I think needs a lot more character development to be worthwhile. But with how the rest of the show is shaping up, I'm more than willing to believe that this will happen. At the moment however, I find her quit lacking as a protagonist.
The other characters are mostly seen for really short periods of times and used for gags or killed of quickly. There are a few exceptions who will probably be important in the story later, but I can't comment on them right now.
Music: 3.5/5
I find the opening and ending quite catchy and the shows main theme is a real bop in my opinion.
The rest of the music does it's job well but didn't stand out to much for me.
Worldbuilding: -
I didn't rate this category here, because I don't believe the show wants to build a cohesive world. I would have given it a 1 or 2 out of 5, but that wouldn't be in the spirit of the show. I think the world is just supposed to be a backdrop, the real worldbuilding are the characters.
Story: 4/5
As I stated previously, I don't think this show wants to tell a deep story. It's a comedy show about the daily life of a happy man during a zombie apocalypse. On the one hand, this sounds boring, but as every slice of life fan will tell you, those kinds of stories can really make your day. I think the story format is great for just tuning out at the end of a week and forgeting your real world struggles for 20 minutes.
Overall score: 3.875/5 --> 7.75/10
So, at the moment I would put this show at a 8, but a bit closer to a 7 than a 9. I think the most room for improvement lies with the characters. I don't think the Music, Story or Visuals will change much throughout the show.
I'm eager to see where this series will go and I'm hoping that the second protagonist will get more screentime to develop a bit more.
But overall, I highly recommend this show to almost everyone. If you have a really strong aversion to violence, you might want to skip this one, but in that case you probably aren't even reading this review.
This is shaping up to become my favourite show for the season!

Liar Liar is about someone who goes to a special school where everything is settled through games and defeats the highest ranked student on his first day. But secretly he isn't as great a player as everyone thinks.
The Title of the show now comes into play, as the protagonist and the girl he defeated are both liars. And because of the nature of their lies they have to work together to conceal them.
While this may sound interesting, make no mistake. Liar Liar is nothing special. The animation quality is OK at best, the characters, aside from maybe the protagonist himself, are little more than the
...
standard tropes and side characters fit on a single index card.
But what brings Liar Liar down for me the most are the games. Because the animation quality isn't good enough to distract you, like in No game no Life or Kakegurui, you only have the game itself to bring your attention to. And they aren't good. While the games have more variety to them than I thought, the rules are barely and badly explained and the show always has some extra rules up its sleeve that it only reveals once the characters use them to give the audience a contrived gotcha moment and make the protagonist seem smarter.
For my rating, I use a few charactaristics of the show and rate them from 0 to 5. I then take the average and multiply it by two to get a MAL score. Keep in mind that this rating is subjective and only represents how I personally felt about certain aspects of the show.
Visuals: 2/5
They weren't horrible, but nothing to write home about.
Characters: 1/5
Like I said, they are barely more than one note or a trope.
Music: 2,5/5
It wasn't good or bad enough to be noticable, so right in the middle.
Story: 1/5
Sadly there wasn't anything interesting beyond the intriguing introduction.
Worldbuilding: 2/5
The setting is interesting. But as of episode 3, nothing is explained well enough to be believable. At the moment it feels like the whole world is just used to get us to the "cool games". Which isn't bad for this kind of anime, No game no Life and Kakegurui did it as well, but it also isn't enough to more points for me.
Overall Score: 1,7/5 --> 3,4/10
A better production quality could have elevated this to a 6-7/10 just because the premise is pretty fun. But because the animation quality isn't enough for me to turn my brain of, I'm forced to bring my attention to all the other aspects of the show which, well, aren't great.
Keep in mind that while my score can seem rather harsh, I just try to keep my average at about 5, so a score of 3,4 just means that it is a bit below average but I would still consider it watchable for people who think the premise is fun.

If you like wish fullfilment and power fantasy, this anime will be an 11/10 for you. This anime is one of the biggest power fantasies this season, maybe even of all time.
Sadly however, every other aspect was severely lacking in my opinion, but let's start with an overview:
MC starts as extremely fat, ugly and untalented. Everyone hates him, even he himself. After his grandfather passes and leaves MC his house with a portal to another world (with magic, princesses and monsters, WOW!) MC instantly gets OP skills and weapons in the new world. Monster drops can be converted to money and his now extremely high
...
stats make him not only capable at literaly everything, but also so attractive that he is highered for model work in later episodes.
Now that he is beatiful and capable, everyone likes him and he leads a perfect life, his only problems being that all his new friends find themselves in trouble every few minutes and only MC can save them with his newfound awsome skills from the other world.
What pains me most in this anime is the setup with the main love interest of MC. She was the only one who recognized him after his beautification, because he tried to save her from bullies in the past (but failed, because he was fat, ugly and untalented).
She transfers him to her awsome school with only nice people, where MC can begin from scratch.
Without the Isekai element, this could have been a nice story about self improvement or even learning to live with your flaws.
But instead we have a story where the MC is handed everything on a silver platter because he is just that awsome in everything.
Disclaimer: The following numbers are not meant to objective. They simply represent how much I personally enjoyed certain aspects of the show.
Worldbuilding: 0/5
In my opinion, there is no worldbuilding. The other world (as of episode 6) consists of a forrest and a nearby city, which both aren't really explored. The Japan in the show is just normal japan but with a stinky poo school where MC is originaly from and a super awsome school where he transfered to.
Characters: 0/5
MC doesn't fully realise his new powers which makes him way too humble. In every situation where he has to do anything he pretends that he is still his old ugly, fat and untalented self. "Can I really do this?" "Do I really deserve this?". And everytime it is obvious that the situation presents no real threat because he is just that awsome and capable. The problem is mainly that he doesn't learn this and that being oblivious to his awsomness is his main character trait. Everyone else is just there to find him awsome and cheer him on.
Art: 2/5
Not really bad, but just not interesting. Generic monsters, generic fantasy city, generic armor and weapons. But still, it isn't bad.
Animation: 3/5
There are cool moments, but most of the time there just isn't much of it.
Music: 1/5
I've watched an episode 20 minutes ago and i don't remember anything. At the very least it didn't bother me.
Overall score: 1,2/5 --> 1/5
I understand that the generic feeling I get with this anime is subjective and that people may find great pleasure in watching it.
If this was my first Isekai, i might have found it cool to watch and interesting.
But I can guarantee that anyone who has watched at least a few Isekai will not miss anything by skipping this one. There are no concepts that haven't been done to death, and the execution of them are lackluster in my opinion.

I have watched my fair share of Isekais and many bad ones (among them Kenja no Mago and Isekai cheat magician). And this one is definitely up there with the worst.
To try and stick out from the crowd, many modern Isekai try to have the "one thing" that you haven't seen before:
- I'm reincarnated and OP, but I'm a girl (somehow I think this counts)
- I'm reincarnated and OP, but this is my second time being reincarnated
- I'm reincarnated and OP, but i'm a girl and i'm in a MMO world
But this one didn't go for the "one thing". MC gets reincarnated and the gods
...
like him so much that they give him OP powers. Everyone likes and admires him for his powers, there is no tension in any scene because he is magnitudes stronger than anything around him and he has basically no character flaws (apart from things like being too humble take credit, or being too nice to refuse requests) and is good at everything he tries. Also every girl wants to marry him, because of course they want.
Now, this probably didn't surprise the Isekai viewers here, in the end we want it that way. Isekais are watched for the power fantasy and wish fullfilment, not despite it.
Even so, i can't help but wish that this one had something specific to catch my interest. But as it stands i can't in good conscience recommend this anime to anyone who doesn't already know exactly what they are getting themselves into.
Disclaimer: The following numbers are of course my subjective opinion. They are meant as a shorthand to express my enjoyment (or it's absence).
Think of the numbers not as how good or bad i think the show is, but how much I personaly liked it.
Worldbuilding:
0/5 (There is not a single interesting thing here. The 7 gods?! really?)
Character writing:
1/5 (They exist, but that's it. There are no synergies or conflicts at all)
Art:
1/5 (As generic as it gets)
Animation:
2/5 (I have seen worse, but it is in no way interesting. It's at least good enough to not always stand out negatively)
Music:
0/5 (The same tracks are played back to back, which doesn't help the fact, that they have no soul to beginn with)
Overall:
0.8/5 --> 1/5
I always feel bad for rating something so low. But in this case I can't help but feel I'm justified, because my main complaints are not the writing and art itself, which are extremely subjective, but the overall lack of creativity in every aspect. I think that in a few months I won't remember the plot, the characters, or the music.
It's without a doubt my least favourite show of this season.
