'Hotarubi no Mori e' is a heart warming romantic anime between a girl, Hotaru, and Gin, a spirit who resides in the forest near Hotaru's Uncles house, whom she stays with during the summer.
The overall experience of the anime was fantastic, the ending was so moving I was just crying. If you haven't seen this movie then you really need to, especially if you love romance animes like I do! good as this one. I love little movies like this and it reminded me of the style of art in 'Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki' which is also another small cute movie you should watch. It has a similar setting, being in the woods and the misty scenes of the forest were just so good, everything about this movie was great. The one thing I would say was the character development wasn't that deep with Gin, we learnt that he was abandoned as a child and turned into a spirit but not much else, maybe that's just me being picky but I understand because it was a short movie (I watched it in 3 parts and they were all about 15 minutes each.) Another thing wasn't so great was the cicada sound effects which were slightly too loud (maybe that's because I was wearing earphones). Anyway, I don't want to spoil all of it in case people actually read this and go watch it, but it's defintely one of those short cute movies that just makes you feel content at the end (I'm not going to say happy because you will probably cry) but it's just worth watching.
Other than that I loved it, definitely worth the watch and a re-watch, I'll definitely be watching this again when I feel like a good movie that makes you blub with fat tears.
