Kanokon. My first ecchi, harem anime. Hold on while I wipe away my tears from listening back on the ending theme song that reminds me of the heart clenching, warming ending this anime has... All right, I'm good now. I cannot stress how much of a memory this show is for me.
If you're looking for a wonderful little anime to watch in your free time, pick up Kanokon if you're into harem and ecchi. It will not disappoint.
Ever thought back on the days when you were innocent and still learning about the world around you? Well, that's something you'll find yourself falling into; nostalgia and
...
memories, along with the incredible choice of songs and the sound track this anime had for the time it was released. Even now, it's still above standard.
The characters in this show are.. As you could imagine, perverted or have the tendency of getting into a deprived situation, which is ecchi for you, but this anime stands out among similar titles today, with it's wonderfully crafted combination of FEELS. The personalities of the characters mix well together throughout the show and I suggest picking up where the anime leaves off with the manga series, since the anime doesn't entirely cover the story, but a good portion.
The development of the characters are great. The people behind the animation of the manga did a good job at reflecting the personalities from the manga adaptation.
As I've praised the music choices, the sound quality is perfect. The art of the show isn't the best, but for it's time, it was definitely near a 10. Story might not be for everyone, even those who enjoy these types of shows, however, based on my own enjoyment, even when I first watched it when I was younger, it deserves a 10/10 - it's stuck with me to this day, for many years. My opinion may be different to a lot, though. However, I am not the only person who holds Kanokon close to their heart, many do that have watched this show when they were younger, anime veterans still remember this title and if you bring it up to one, chances are they'll have only good words for it.
Welcome to Kanokon.

Story OP/10, Art OP/10!!!, Sound OP/10, Character OP/10, Enjoyment OP/10!!!, Overall OP/10. 'Cause Saitama.
I liked this. I really really really like this anime. 'Cause Saitama. You'll like it too. You'll really really really like it. 'Cause Saitama. Have some bug spray at hand though. OP/10 Would punch that play button again. 'Cause Saitama.
There once was a man with hair on his head,
who beats up people, "boring" he says.
He swore to himself he would become stronger,
on behalf of other people who won't even bother.
He ran 10 kilometers, every single day,
to become a hero for fun, not for the pay.
As for the fame, that is a
...
different story,
he doesn't seek the riches, only the glory.
With 100 sit ups, push ups and squats.
All for three years, is what he plots.
After it's been done, he stands proud,
infront of his restroom mirror, is where he vowed.
There was one problem, it was his hair,
it disappeared, to be seen no-where.
With a potatoe for a face, he stood still,
his eyes went dotted and so did his will.
If for only a second, he was pale,
he turned back around and this was his tale.
ONE PUNCH!!!
That's all that it takes! A power of Gods,
his limits? No breaks!
He nails every villain that threatens the world,
ending with a smile, with his fingers curled.
Explosions like a nuke, those were the impacts,
creating a vortex without landing smacks!
Once with his disciple whom he left shocked,
turning around to see a mountain... No mountain,
while Saitama simply walked.
Saitama is Love, Saitama is Life,
don't piss off the baldy, he's scarier than a wife.

BEST ANIME OF 2013 AWARD!
First I must disclose that minus my name being inspired by my love for the main character of this series, Ryuko Matoi - That this review is in no way bias, this review will cover everything you could possibly need to know about the anime and why I gave it my personal title as the best anime of 2013, with a short version at the end for those needing a quick overview. For those interested in the details without spoilers, enjoy a unique review.
Hey guys, call me Ryuka - I'm going to explain why I believe this anime deserves such a
...
title, while tastes between viewers differ sometimes greatly, I will give you many reasons behind why you should at least try this anime if you haven't seen it, let's begin.
Story: 10 - Style: Exaggerated Action, Exaggerated Comedy and Closet Romance.
The story follows a young 17 year old brutish female called Ryuko, her father's death encouraged her to look for answers behind what happened, primarily to track his killer for revenge, finding her way to an academy that towers over different layers of lifestyle, the city below beginning with a slums where poor people live, all the way to the top where the rich live. (Similar to a hierarchy of sort!) and where one lives is determined by "stars" a student has at the academy. These stars are earned by attending and ascending in the academy, which can effect not just the persons but their family. While Ryuko looks for answers, she ends up at the academy, only to meet a twisted, strange world... While there, she finds a lead, the head of the school seems to have answers that she's keeping from Ryuko, but Ryuko won't stand down against this obstacle and she strives to defeat her and bring down the power that is her guards, the Elite Four! (And some weird students... Especially Mako ((You'll understand.))
Art: 9 - Style: Anime-like perhaps with an inspiration from Western cartoons, it works well!
Pros: Art is a very touchy topic for me as I'm someone who TRULY loves the visuals of a series. It doesn't need to be pumped with funds to make something look great, but TRIGGER who worked on this series did such an excellent job at bringing the manga that is Kill la Kill to life...
They traditionally kept the same feel of the manga, the animation comes in 60 frames per second in it's blu-ray format and the fighting scenes show just how much effort they put into this project. If you are a fan of flashy effects, smooth transitions and especially CONSISTENCY - The art is definitely up your alley... That is if you're cool with Western inspiration mixed in from time to time, but Hell, it worked surprisingly well during the comical scenes. The art kept me pumped through the series, I couldn't take my eyes away from the screen.
Cons: The reason why I didn't give Kill la Kill (Animation) a 10 is primarily due to TRIGGER bringing recurring work they did in previous Episodes to the future ones (they stopped this around Episode 9, so it won't be a constant thing you'll need to worry about) - I am not going to provide spoilers, but if you pay KEEN attention to the scenes, you'll notice they use some scenes in particular more than once.
Sound: 7 - Style: Fast-Paced, Powerful, Comical and Classical music were used.
Pros: TRIGGER did themselves proud, pulling together a song with a talented singer singing in English no-less! Even with a background that isn't English she did great on the song. You may here this during scenes where Ryuko gets pumped it, it brings goosebumps to a lot of the fans of KLK, perhaps you might be effected in the same way too. Some classical Western music were used in the series as well, I was a bit surprised how they were able to get two songs specifically that come to my mind involved (I'll give no names) but they used them to per-fec-tion.
Cons: Sadly, this Masterpiece failed in the music by more than just a little, even the sound effects... Some fights had some sounds appear too low or too high for what was actually going on (this fault should have been rectified by the team in-charge) but the music made up for it more-or-less. However, not all fights had this problem, the show started off very well with it's sounds, fell off some Episodes on, but picked itself back up.
Character: 10 - Holy S***!
Pros: Absolutely fantastic, you have some DIAMONDS in KLK, they brought the same personalities out from the manga without a single disappointment!
Every personality for every anime fan is gathered in this bundle of silly and joy. I can't put into words how amazing of a job the developers did behind this. This is the only part I cannot put into words.
Cons: None! Unless you are effected by shiny nipples and a dog's penis wiggling around, but hey...
Enjoyment: 10 - KLK is, was and all ways will be a Masterpiece, even now after two years it still beats newly produced animations.
There is no cons here, this part I am going to express myself, so take this with a grain of salt, I am a human being and I will not confirm that you will experience the same level of ecstasy I received from Kill la Kill... Nevertheless, here we go.
Anime in itself is inspiring for children, teenagers, adults and even the middle aged. There's all ways that one pick out of the coop for all that stands out and Kill la Kill is the pick for me.
I have been watching anime since I was a young child, so far I have accumulated nearly a thousand in number that I have seen, it wouldn't surprise me. I've all ways thought to myself "Dragon Ball is the best anime!" as a child, then I grew up - as a teenager I thought "Kanokon is the best anime!", I was stubborn, I all ways told myself KANOKON was the best, I was mad. My taste matured over the years and now as an adult, my bias days have been gone. I've given fair comments on many shows, to friends, family and newcomers to whatever-fandom that it is.
Now, as I am writing this, I will PROUDLY say that Kill la Kill, in my perspective, is the greatest anime I have ever had the experience in watching, as well as reading. When I heard about Kill la Kill becoming animated, I was put into a slump, I'll be honest. I thought "Who is TRIGGER?" (I never actually heard of them, crazy! I've even seen anime the members of TRIGGER worked on. For shame...) when my friends told me they would be behind KLK's animation. I sighed, then waited for a trailer. Trailer came out, I watched it in 2013, my first thought was "S***, this looks dope." but I didn't see MUCH for my interest to pull me to. 2014, when KLK's animation was finished and everyone was disappointed that it was over and my friends told me how much I was missing out on it, some even giving mixed signals, I thought I made the right decision... Not ruin a beautiful story that was inked on paper, right? Wrong.
2015 came, I sat down and said "If Funimation made an official English Dub, I'll give it a go."
I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Kill la Kill made me shed tears more than once, more than twice, more than three times. I felt like a pussy at the end of it, with goosebumps lingering over my whole body from head to toe as I watched the fighting scenes and how EPIC they really were! The exaggerated power of each character's disposal during conflict and the hardships they all had to face, the inspiration they gave each other and how the comedy relief of one silly and random girl gave to even the craziest moments brought a smile to my face even with a tear dripping down my cheek. I was stunned, I was in awe. This was Kill la Kill the animation.
Thank you for reading. Now here's the short version of the review:
If you are interested in watching Kill la Kill, I surely do recommend it. It has a lot of comic relief, action and closet romance. The one genre that stands out most is comedy, but the action you'll see in this series is absolutely out of this world (and literally does become just that toward the end, but I'm not saying ANY more!) it has some references from other anime, as well. If you give this anime a shot, I challenge you to find some of them without looking online (unless you admit defeat!) - The story begins with a punkish female set out on a quest to find the killer of her father, with a scissor blade in hand, happening upon a utopia sized city with different levels of lifestyle, determined by the academy at the heart of the escalating view. Once she makes her way there, she finds that the leader of the academy has answers to her father's death, but will she be able to get those answers? Only through defeating different students and the guards at her disposal, her loyal Elite Four. Expect lots of comedy, crazy and wacky character personalities and insane action sequences.
Welcome to Kill la Kill!
