Revue Starlight is rather a hit or miss which is pretty sad to me. It comes down to how it mixes idol elements with symbolic stuff together and how the series uses it. But I personally love it. It's really creative and it utilizes the concepts of human determination really well. My personal favorite part of the series is how it's not even story-driven but rather, it utilizes figurative perspectives where they allow us to follow and emphasize with over character growth and chemistry. The movie is arguably even better but due to spoilers, I won't sugarcoat it.



Oh boy, now where do I begin with this? Muramasa is a solid VN. It plays with morality well and it has such a great protagonist. However, I'd find that it would be a lot better if not for the abstract nonsense around. Muramasa probably has one of the worst batches of sex scenes ever. I get that the whole VN is meant to be brutal but from what I see, it relies too much on raw shock value to ensure that they're "shocky" enough, even though it doesn't work like that. Now this is a very controversial take but Chachamaru was the worst character in that series. She's sassy, sure, but her whole character is detached and has no practical contribution to the plot at all, especially when you take her route into account. As for Majikoi, it's decent. I do believe it's one of the better SoL comedy VNs around but for the most part, it's a hit-or-miss. On one hand, the story is interesting and it has some great female characters around. On the other hand, the protagonist has no personality except to be the central main character to push the plot and the sex jokes are just off. I get what the VN attempts to do but they're really cringe. But of course, these are just my personal thoughts.
