I had a lot of expectations for Marulk-chan no Nichijou as I really love Marulk and Ozen thinking I would get to see something that would deepen the characters even if it's just a bit by showing a short story. I have no issues with the lenght of the episodes or the amount of content shown, but rather the fact that it's just softcore porn.
Made in Abyss can be incredibly interesting, with a world and rules so fascinating and cool; I did not expect that in the shorts, but rather how a "daily life" looks like in a world like that. I understand that

there's not much room to do anything, as the house these two live in is very small, but I expected something relatively funny or sweet, but it really was just softcore porn, "ecchi" with no real reason other than "we don't know how to end this" and it's just.. dissapointing.
The only thing that makes this worth it is Marulk and Ozen's flashback in episode 4, as it brings a bit of backstory from when they first found eachother and how they got to live together. I could not find anyone talking about this scene being in the manga or something that "they finally animated!", which leads me to believe this is either non canon or built for these shorts which it's fine but at the same time it makes me mad because there's no way I'm gonna recommend this anime to anyone aside from this episode.
imo it just sucks. Not good even as a slice of life because they just wanted to make fans horny. The watchtime makes up for it so it's not literal torture, thankfully.

If you have read Aku no hana before, you kind of know what to expect from this author. This time, Shuuzou Oshimi decided to explore the topic of gender dysphoria and gender as a whole in a natural way by using inexperienced and imperfect characters while truly capturing that awkward phase of early transition and how wrong can it go when you lack some kind of support group, specially one that knows about being transgender.
It has some erotic moments that are mostly forced or non consensual, filled with awkwardness and uncertainty. I understand how this is a complete "no-no" when reading content, specially because

there are nudes drawings, but it's not in a way that it felt like "porn". Hell, these scenes don't last more than they should at all. These scenes always somehow detonate an important plot point one way or another and serve to develop "Alice" as a character and how much she's struggling to find her identity.
A lot of people have called this transphobic and gross for making the trans character engage in non consensual sex and that the manga doesn't know enough about trans people and while I understand where this comes from, I don't entirely agree with the latter. Oshimi's works constantly attempt to explore the human mind in a way that's understandable for the circumstances the characters are featured in. It's not like he randomly goes "ah yes, this person is trans so they will rape someone" but more of a "this *person* went through this, this and this. I don't find it weird that they're desensitized to the whole concept of consent because of all they went through. Their pursuit of trying to understand gender and themselves more makes them act this specific way, but not in an aggressive way, more like a rose that ends up hurting others due to the lack of carefulness in the way they've grown".
Would this manga be much better without the non consensual sex scenes? Yes.
Are they necessary to the plot the author had in mind? Sadly yes
Does the author fetishizes rape? No
Would I prefer if the exploration of gender went another way? Absolutely.
Okaeri Alice is not bad by any means and is able to communicate a meaningful story, but it definitely could of have been done in a much better way.
While I personally enjoy reading cathartic stories, I feel kind of guilty for enjoying Okaeri Alice and there's something in my head that makes me feel conflicted when I try to talk about how much I like it or how much I dislike it, hence why I'm giving this a "Mixed Feelings" recommendation because I truly don't feel like I *liked* it but also don't feel like I *disliked* it but it definitely wasn't neutral. It was an interesting read with an engaging story with gender being a main topic but.. no more than that.

Charles Baudelaire "Les Fleurs du mal" (The Flowers of Evil) basically explores the Spleen; A term used in the 19th century to describe melancholy, profound boredom and overall dissatisfaction, that is often originated from the tragedy of life. The book talks about how Baudelaire descends more and more into the pleasures of hell in an attempt to find something that fulfills him, with the book ending in the conclusion that death is the only unknown thing left to discover, and what the poet ends up wishing for.
Aku no Hana, directly inspired by "Les Fleurs du mal", takes the whole "Spleen" thing and tries to

explore and portray a more direct narrative. Develop the before and after the tragedy, the spelunking of hell, what drives people into it and how everyone is affected by that one way trip.
When you go to a museum and look at a portrait, what do you feel? I personally don't really feel anything, yet it's hauntingly beautiful. Evocative even. This is a feeling that to me, it's carried towards every other painting. It could be happy, it could be terrifying, it could be horrible, it could be sickening, yet.. somehow.. it's always beautiful.
Aku no Hana suffers a similar effect and that broke me.
I had internet access without supervision as a kid and ended up going thru blackmail, abuse and torture. Now that I overcame all of that, I'm trying to treat some of the remaining wounds and trauma responses left, but whenever I talk about what happened I don't break down crying. I don't have a hard time talking a bout it anymore. If anything, I experience some kind of cathartic ecstasy. It's painful, it hurts, but I get psychological relief whenever I talk or read about it. When it comes to reading tho, there's an issue with it, and that is that there are so many media out there that embellishes or tries to "represent" these struggles as some kind of side plot and end up covering the bare minimum.
Aku no Hana is a deep exploration on everything that can go wrong and how life and humans are affected by tragedy. Before and after the worst happens.
It has changed my life for better and allowed me to somehow forgive my younger self in the process.
The story, the pacing and the delivery of Aku no Hana is flawless and incredibly well thought.
If you can stomach it, I highly recommend it, as it has become my favorite manga of all time, but it's definitely something that has to be read in the right state of mind to not be affected by it but also enjoy it in the process.
I recommend taking breaks if you need them, as I had a hard time formulating words and speaking after finishing the last three chunks of the story all in one go due to how much it impacted me. Should you expect this to happen to you? No, but like any other trauma related work, be careful when approaching them and be sure to take care of yourself if you decide to take on.

Bunny Senpai movie is an absolute fucking tearjerker that I love coming back to and showing it to people so they also suffer.
Despite having watched it three times already, I still cry with it because it's a story done to hurt you specially when you know what's gonna happen. It explores our desire of "I could of have done something better" a lot which is something I find incredibly interesting. It is definitely not a movie that can be watched alone without the anime so be aware of that.

truly appreciate because it's the only character that still had some questions around some might argue that we got edged way too hard but I definitely feel like the context of the anime was needed and that the execution of it was great.

Being completely honest, I adore this anime. I have always liked stories where you can see a relationship developing in the day to day basis rather than it being the ending of the show or something like that because yeah sure that awkward stage of not knowing if both of you feel the same way can be really cute but I still wish there was more content that depicts relationships and how they tackle each day rather than the "wh-wh-wh-wwaaat you love me!?!?!?" stuff so I'm completely biased when I say I love this anime.

how the puberty syndrome works, but I still feel like it's really enjoyable because of the fast pacing and incredibly human characters in an anime that lets them express it. While the characters still have the usual anime traits, they're still quite unique, specially being a slice of life and that feels incredibly refreshing.
I'm a sucker for any kind of mystery so that's also a +1 to me and the way it was handled, full of emotions and empathy in a mature way is great too.
I highly recommend this one if you haven't watched it already. Please for the love of god, do watch the movie after it because it's also great.

I really was looking forward to the Professor Layton manga, but the characters are radically different from the games, completely exxagerated and unnecesary dumb, literally the entire opposite of their personality is present in this manga, which made me decide to drop it. I now understand why I was only able to obtain the first two chapters only. A complete letdown for what makes the Professor Layton series a great thing.
The art is really charming though, I like the style a lot,but would of love it better with the original personalities of the characters.
Not recommended under any circumstances. Even fan-stories are better.
