When I heard they were re-doing Fullmetal Alchemist I was cautious to say the least, having enjoyed the series and movie while savoring the different flavor the manga original offered.
I am pleased to say I got past my skepticism and tried this show out - at least for these first few episodes that have been released. For the classic story parts that became the backbone of the manga the representation is more accurate than the first series was, offering a literal different flavor on the same thing -- in some cases leading to better dialogue. First thing's first...this is some of the worse English dubbing I've heard since the early-mid 80's dubs (not counting Naruto…which shall not be mentioned again)....there....it needed said. Characters have been altered dramatically and in many cases ruined by the “voice actor’s” work. That being said – this review is solely for the original Japanese Audio version.
This is a reasonably fair adaptation of the source manga – however my watching the show first made my bias pretty clear in its favor. Great characters, fun interactions, and a nicely progressive story keep my interest high in this show. Rather than ranting how Kenny, ...

This is an excellent concept that had unlimited potential. The power of judgment via death is given to the brightest young mind in Japan and his ridiculously in-depth strategies to remake the world in his image and avoid capture. The antagonist is one of the most finely tuned and fascinatingly entertaining characters I have encountered – the great detective L.
I will do my best to not put spoilers in my reviews but let it be known that about 2/3 through this series it’s intrigue and glory start to fade…culminating with a two-part ending ... |
