Sorry in advance for this brief review.
The story is a continuation of the conflict between the humans and the ghouls. I'm disappointed that the ending had several loose ends. The first season clearly revolves around Kaneki's story, whereas Tokyo Ghoul √A focuses more on the tension of the organization that Kaneki was originally a part of and the civil strife of those he has left behind. Especially since the departure of Kaneki's involvement with the Antieku organization, his so-called love interest, Touka-chan, subconsciously mirrors Kaneki's interests as a college student and even his bookworm nature. I have to admit that I haven't read the manga yet, but based on the outline of the anime's story, the major plot focuses on the fact that the main character tries to accept and play out his fate. The cheap reason for Kaneki's fate consequentially occurred all because he wanted a date with a seemingly sweet and intellectual girl. But the story itself, deals with the mental support from the least of the likeliest places and the corruption in every being, human or ghoul. The animation is very explicit. The story itself is unique and perceptive about understanding the worldly struggles of humans. Viewers fight to understand the side that pursues of happiness despite the misery and the desperate side that can't bear anymore misery. The story also deals with the impact and traumas of reality, where there is always an alternate meaning of what is right and wrong. The concept of the story was a bit confusing, but understandable in the end.
