[SPOILER AHEAD, MAYBE]
First off all, Curaçao is absolutely Waifu!
No, but seriously, she was literally the best character in the whole movie. Her character development and legit turn-around at the end was unexpected and I appreciated it very much since I did not expect her to act out that way.
But besides Curaçao, the movie was legit pretty good. The story orbiting around her and the Black Organization itself is interesting and enjoyable, especially that Gin got a good chunk of screentime and lines to say!
Unlike in some other movies, the main plot point here is not to solve a murder case but to help find Curaçao's
...
lost memory - which makes it really refreshing but also disappointing if you were expecting a complicated riddle to be solved.
This said, Conan kind of moves into the background, since there are just a handful of codes he could crack.
Why did I still gave it an 8 then, if the name-giving Conan did not had to play the detective here?
Well, the strongest point of it were its (new) characters and the setting it was in. I just had some feel-good moments with Curaçao and the Detective Boys, even though I normally cannot really stand them. The ending was refreshing and unexpected (at least for me) but I can also understand why people were disappointed in it, seeing that there is no case to be solved by Shiniji.
But then, there is one thing that really bugs me...
...why did Curaçao had to end like a damn pancake?
