The view that 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' is a boring addition to this Spring's anime lineup might be missing the point. This series, known for its slower pace, prioritizes world-building and character development, which have been its strengths since Season 1. We're just three episodes in, and already, the consistent animation quality and solid voice acting are shaping up to enhance the experience.
If you've enjoyed the previous seasons, this one won't disappoint. It’s not just about visual appeal; it sets the stage for a story that unfolds through thoughtful diplomatic choices and deep community and world-building.
The series may start without high-stakes
...
conflict, but it promises to build up and deepen over time. For those who appreciate a show with depth and measured storytelling, this anime is worth continuing, especially if you're invested in its world and characters. It offers a thoughtful exploration of how leadership and society can evolve in a fantastical setting, which is exactly what this anime is about. No negative surprises so far.
I recommend sticking with it, especially if you're a fan of characters like Diablo. And for those whose brains are perhaps a bit fatigued and fried by the constant dopamine releases from faster-paced shows, give it a try anyway. You might get rewarded in the long run. For people who are getting annoyed by those fast-paced shows, this season might be refreshing to you.
Edit at Episode 17: I gotta admit that the pacing is quite slow but I can't see any other way to tell the story since it's pretty complex and in the end, there's so much world building. Unfortunately it feels like the animation did decline in quality, though it's not severe. Despite these things, the show is very entertaining and it's just very rough that we have to wait a WHOLE WEEK to see how it develops. Since it's against the rules to edit the review after watching deeper into the series, I will write a new, proper review once it's finished.

"She's using me as a Doggy-Vibrator"
And with those wise words, let's begin.
Unfortunately, even if the quality of the OVAs upholds the same standard as the anime, if not better, things don't get more creative. OVAs like in this case a 'beach episode' or rather 'water park episode' and the weird Cuckquean session in the second one will, of course, not have any special character development or proper storylines. It's no different from other series which is FINE. I was aware of it since I usually love Ecchi, no matter how trashy.
Believe me, the Ecchi part is good (boobas, expressions, poses) but.. It doesn't make
...
you laugh, it doesn't make you cry, you feel nothing and it doesn't even make you nut (probably, and if it does, the only thing you feel is shame). Sadly we don't get new Openings/Endings but that's to be expected. It's also still the same three girls from the main anime which are actually sweet but.. They wanna fuck a dog.
(Un)fortunately, it still has the same level of degeneracy as the main anime, but in better and more explicit I'd say. She literally uses his tail as a vibrator.
Great if you like the dog doing the dirty to the girls and vice versa!! It surpasses the Anime in that aspect (except the Episode where she cosplays as a dog. It was the only 10/10 ep. Anyways.)
For everyone else: Nah.

Alright, let's dive into this wild ride. At first, I was pumped for a Dog POV concept - I mean, who doesn't love dogs, right? (Blind Watch, obviously). But here's the deal: it's a Dog POV, kinda... with a horny dog and equally aroused girls. Now, the one character with some sense tries to remind everyone that doing certain things with dogs is just plain wrong, and honestly, that's what most viewers would think too. Well.. Everyone seems to ignore it and they really, really *love* this dog.
But here's where it gets repetitive. The whole shtick revolves around these girls (mainly Inukai Karen) finding
...
themselves in situations where the Dog MC starts licking or rubbing them in certain spots, and they're on the verge of reaching that peak (or maybe they already did, who knows?). Trust me, it gets old real quick.
---
Spoilers:
Sadly, the one interesting aspect of the "story" or "plot" - you know, the whole turning-human-again thing and the aftermath - well, it just gets tossed aside in the end. Talk about a missed opportunity. The 'Solution' didn't work at all. It feels like a major plot hole or maybe the writer dropped the ball and ChatGPT finished it up.
The origin story of Inukai/Karen falls flat as she simply replaces her old dog with a random new one, giving him the same name and all.
Of course, her old dog died a few years ago and she's been so cold ever since, booho. I know how it is to lose a beloved dog but she obviously loved that Dog too much looking at her behaviour now. You know exactly what I mean by that. At least she had some character development in the end with opening up. Unfortunately, she opened up even more towards Dog-kun and the last scene is straight up mental illness.

Listen, I won't beat around the bush anylonger. This anime is all about boobies, panties, bestiality, and just pure degeneracy. If that's your cup of tea, go ahead and give it a shot. But if you're looking for something with substance and "a bit more depth", you might want to pass on this one.

I've never wrote a review before, so please excuse my lack of professionality. I try my best not to write any spoilers.
Story / 10
I absolutely love the concept of being left alone in a game and then being thrown into a quite unknown world. Overlord just did that in an extraordinary way. There are a lot of references to the past of the game which fit perfectly into context. Also the fact, that the MC is in fact THE "Overlord" is so interesting. I dont know if there is any other anime like that.
Art / 8
Except the CGI it's really good.
Sound / 9
Love
...
the openings and sound effects fit well most of the time (except some monsters).
Character / 10
Every guardian represents the personality of its creator. They interact in a very unique way with eachother and everyone has a different personality. They develop alot and dont just follow the orders of Ainz. The development of Ainz's mentality is also insane.
Enjoyment / 10
Season 1 and 2 were really great but it seems, that Season 3 just did the best job in pure enjoyment. BUT it's definently not an anime where you can just sit back and relax. Following the story and watching out for details is just great. Because there are a lot of details, which play an important role in the story.
Over(all)lord uhm.. Overall / 10 (not funny?.. uhm. True.)
It may be my rose-tinted glasses for this show or my lack of "anime-experience" but it is my favorite show rightnow. You may have already knew that because of my review.
Thanks for your time and I hope this was useful in a way. :)
