Weird anime. The way that characters just die left and right and everyone just moves on, seemed strange to say the least. All the while Ayanami just loses her marbles on occasion. KITE being a walking and talking deus-ex-machina of sorts also wasn't particularly appealing. The rest of the characters are closely defined, with a few interloping sub-plots that felt unnecessary. Many characters felt outright superfluous. Overall, its compelling plot, but executed in a somewhat unconventional (and not very believable) way. The visuals are interesting, and somewhat compensate the cons of this work.
Im usually a big fan of disaster movies and also anime.
