I must admit, I enjoy dark stories more than those with a laid-back, funny tone, so I wasn't sure about it in the beginning. It was funny right from the start, but not gripping; at the end of an episode I wasn't left with that lovely feeling of "Oh my fucking Gods how does it go on", yet, each episode had been enjoyable, so I had rated it as a 7 to start with.

However, it turns pretty dark and grizzly after the second half, with some nice and somewhat surprising turns, which made me enjoy the story even more. Hidden dark stories? Beautiful.

I didn't find this to be one of the "typical" Kuroshitsuji stories, the "Boy with demon hunts down England's bad men in the name of the Queen" kind of story.
Still, I liked it. Maybe I liked it for that difference, maybe out of nostalgia. Maybe a mix of both. I do love Sebastian, Ciel, the crazy Phantomhive servants, the general wit of Kuroshitsuji, and the darkness around it all, Book of Circus had that, so I found it enjoyable.

And yet, this arc had a different feeling to it. All in all, it was such a desolate story. What happens doesn't leave you with ...
