Horny power rangers. Probably the best description for whatever this was. The idea is solid even with the absurd plot, with plenty of opportune moments for comedy and ecchi. Hentai HxEros is the peak of "so bad it's good".
The sound and art has no deal being as well done as it is given the plot, characters, originating idea, etc. No real comments or complaints there. Just well done.
The story and way the episodes are structured are both interesting? In each episode, half of the runtime has been delegated to pure ecchi. Not a problem, I love ecchi. Even if the characters are slightly

garbage. But then, something inevitably goes wrong and some or all of the main characters need to fight the "monster of the week". Similar to many other shows with superheroes. Not a bad formula if done correctly. The first half could be used to build genuine character relationships and learn about each character even with "unfortunate" groping every two seconds and the second half actually advances the plot. Too bad that all the characters are pretty static in their personality and motivation down to the same things they talk about in each episode. Then there's the monster fight. More ecchi things happen for the sake of powering up, monster gets defeated after a little struggle and basic problem solving (just grope the girls even harder than before) and monster dies, everyone is happy. The overarching story and motivations are pretty basic. Of course the characters each have their own motivations in some capacity but they all stem back to "helping people". Throughout the anime it's just: kill the bug aliens, kill more bug aliens with different powers that somehow get solved with ecchi, kill slightly more powerful bug aliens, and kill even more bug aliens. So... that's the plot. Also the main character and his childhood friend has a budding romance or something.
The characters are kinda very badly written. The main character, Retto Enjou seems to be allergic to women, has 0 charisma whatsoever, and lets his harem walk all over him. So almost every harem protagonist that has ever existed. At least his harem has a reason to hook up besides just being madly in love with him randomly. So, huge strides in the harem anime department. Retto apologizes even if it's not his fault, puts up with physical assault and manipulation from his main tsundere love interest (100% tsun, 0% dere), behaves like a flustered idiot no matter the circumstance, and cannot recognize a better love interest (it's Murasame btw) even if her breasts are literally in front of his face. At the very least he has believable motives and is a nice dude even if he has worse conflict resolution skills than a 5 year old. The main love interest, Kirara Hoshino is just a little bit of a... terrible person. She's the tsundere of the harem, with her true feelings as an inner monologue while in reality she really just likes to constantly abuse our main character. Of course she has a reason for being an absolute bitc- but it's not really convincing as for every 1 second explanation we have 1 minute of her blushing because Retto said something nice about her or something like that (then he gets punched for it). Maybe if the audience were given more reasons to empathize with her I would feel different, but honestly the relationship Retto and her had in their flashbacks is much more easy to imagine than the one in the present. It's hard to do that though when the next scene is Kirara unable to show any positive emotions at all and oh now she's manipulating Retto into not showing romantic interest towards any other girl when he is literally a harem protagonist to buy time for herself since she is bad at emotions. And oh... she doesn't make any noticeable progress with expressing emotions. And oh... she did the same thing again. And of course our protagonist is too dumb and nice to call her out on being manipulative and does something realistic for once. This is a harem anime, and we can't have the main character actually choosing a girl for himself outside of the tsundere, who won't reciprocate easily. Anyways the other characters are pretty one dimensional given that they are just cute faces with varying sizes of breasts for the sake of fanservice. There are some sweet moments but the characters and main relationships are bad. I'm sorry.
Even with all that criticism, this was still an enjoyable anime. If you're looking for some dumb fun to waste a few hours, this is it. Really just depends on your bs tolerance. Mine has been reduced to pretty low but I could tolerate the stupidity for most of the episodes. Hentai HxEros could've been better considering everything. However it turned out pretty bad. Not terrible. Still enjoyable for some people. But pretty bad.

***THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS***
The pros of Boku no Hero Academia s5 are pretty obvious. The characters are still fun, well developed quirks, worldbuilding, etc. Storywise there's not so much so far. The art and sound are still fine to me. Whatever. I just want to focus on the bad parts of s5 mostly. The class A vs B story arc sounds pretty fun in concept. Here's my problems with it though. (The first fight has less problems than the second in my opinion). 1. Everyone is still describing everything to the viewer as if everyone watching is a toddler. We can see the action on screen and ... |
