A little late but im finally sitting down to write about Assassination Classroom. I was going to write a proper review first, but then I realised I mostly wanted to talk about my personal experience with it, so into the void I go.
Assassination Classroom was a pleasant surprise! I've been meaning to watch it for years, was kind of disappointed by the first few episodes but then the series started to genuinely grow on me. It was partially because of the nostalgia for these early 2010 series that were around when I was back in secondary school and first got into anime. But LORD I'm so grateful I didn't watch this as a young teen because it would have done some psychological damage to me (same kind of gratefulness I have for missing out on danagnronpa) but now as an adult I just get to enjoy a silly weird thing without losing braincells.

Fun and unique story, memorable characters, actual good humour and interesting themes! I'm happy to call it a pretty good, well rounded series. It's nothing mind-blowing of course, but it's definitely fun. My only complaints are for the tasteless sexual harassment jokes that haven't aged well (and never hit in the first place anyway) and for the... surface level exploration? I don't know how to explain it in one sitting but I actually feel like two seasons weren't enough. I would've liked to have seen the characters and their relationships get even more deepened, because looking back now the series of events feels kinda rushed and I still have questions that I don't think were thoroughly answered. Though I don't know if that's just in the anime and if the original manga did more. I think I'm mostly hung up on Nagisa and Karma, having expected their relationship to be more important and more explored. But that's just my personal preference and I still liked what they did anyway.

I also wanted to briefly write about this series as a trans person. I do genuinely understand and see Nagisa as a trans-man allegory, even with the slightly backwards logic. The episode where we meet his mom and see how she treats him... I had to pause and process that for a while because it gave me far too many flashbacks to my actual real life. I do wonder what the anime would have done for me if I watched it when I was 15. But I think the emotional impact it had on me mostly come from feeling like I was watching teen me from third person, watching him express the kind of feelings and frustrations I couldn't put into words yet.
While on the subject, despite the few crossdress jokes and teasing, I'm actually pretty impressed with how this anime handled a GNC protagonist! It's only brought up a few times, the rest of the class is normal about it and Nagisa's appearance/personality isn't tied to just that aspect of him. It's not perfect of course, but for <2015??? it's pretty damn good.
Perhaps one day we'll finally get a canonically trans-man protagonist, or I'll just make it happen myself lol.

Anyways, AssClass good! I enjoyed and I'm great to see it completed on my list now. I don't think I'll ever rewatch it, but I'm glad I watched it once at least.

I have mixed feelings on Chainsaw Man.... for now im giving it a 7, because I felt like was really enjoying the series for about 50% of the time, but I also spent an equal amount of time bothered and not wanting to see more. my feelings and rating will most likely change later, especially after seeing what season 2 and rest of the story are like. Because at the moment the only thing I feel like praising are the visuals, music and voice acting. It took the very last episode for me to get actually invested in the plot lol.

Mob Psycho is one of the most wholesome series I've ever seen. I just watched the finale and..... aahhgg I was actually in tears. I feel like its been a while since I've watched something that was so sincere and happy to have a happy ending. I can see this becoming a comfort show for me in the next few years. ill write a proper review at some point, but for now I just wanted to share my immediate feelings.

To be honest, I don't tend to keep up with seasonal anime, as im still catching up with stuff ive been meaning to watch for almost a decade now... but literally everyone I know and their mother has been talking about Chainsaw Man even BEFORE the adaptation was announced. So I'm definitely curious and gonna keep up with the series, for now at least. I'm not enthusiastic about the gore genre in general, but I'm down to watch anything as long as it's fun and has a good story. And the mix of action anime tropes and the bizarreness of the first episode is, so far, very intriguing.

Finished the mugen train arc. my throat hurts from crying this is ridiculous. Tho it's kinda funny how this is the second time in a row that I finished a series and immediately came here to give it an angry 10/10.

I've had no internet at my house for the past 2 weeks, which has been incredibly frustrating cause I wanted to finish season 2 and 3 of Haikyuu before the season comes out (my dumbass never finished season and then forgot oops). I fucking, binged 10 episodes in a row using my university wifi instead of going to my life drawing session and I only got halfway into season 3 before I got lightheaded and went home. Whack. Im gonna try and finish season 3 this weekend and catch up with the new bnha episodes I missed so I can get into a consistent schedule. It's especially whack cause I wanted to watch the new Haikyuu episode on my birthday, but our internet provider said I have no rights.
