Air gear is an exciting out going anime, but undoubtedly suffers from a lacking of an ending, due to low fan base and funding. None the less it is well made anime in my eyes. Well versed anime viewers may state that Air Gear is a little cliché, I found that the initial episodes act as stepping stones to a well planned story and is there to ease the viewer into a deeper story. The story starts out simple, street level racing, school friends, family, and Air Trek gangs but later on transforms into a much grander story. With hard decisions which are

not simply black and white but rather smothered in shades of grey.
Air Gear gains your attention with a combination of love triangles, protagonist achievements, memorable quotes/one liners, fan service, and comedy. Many scenes that contain "action" are done respectively in contrast to to Air Treks being motorised roller blades.
The protagonist Itsuki (Ikki) Minami is a traditional Shounen style character who develops as the story progresses, he gets stronger and beats harder enemies. Unlike normal Shounen style characters he has a lot of human features that normal Shounen heroes seem to lack consistently. He is jealous, crude, self absorbed, lustful, sly, cunning, and even at times disturbing. These features make him relate able, and loveable (for some).
Skankfunks use of remixes and original music complements Air Gear. The moments where a revelation occurs or an impressive trick is in motion songs like Chain - Magnificentral are played to hype the scene which it definitely does. Songs such as Chain - Acoustic Cowboy Mix produces a light mood between characters. Anthem for Pipe Dreams produces an extremely sinister atmosphere of unease which also goes for Chain - Massiveness.
Air Gear has a lot of twists and turns, hidden secrets discover and plenty of character development though primary focus is placed on the protagonist (Shounen) attention is given to other characters as well.
Air Gear is not for everyone that is the truth or else it would be at the top of the anime/manga list, but it's unique concept on the traditional Shounen style separates it from the rest. It is highly addictive and compelling anime, I watched 1-25 in a single night without sleep (honestly). I highly recommend Air Gear to anyone, and i hope my review allows you to see something in Air Gear others have not.
