Okay, I just want to reply to your review, so I'll start by putting it into this spoiler section and go down it in order of your own writing style.
Well, I usually don't write reviews... Indeed, this is my first review, haha(certainly I will make a mistake, but I really don't care!). So, where I should start? Hmmm, nevermind, here I go.
Well, here is my notes, and my REAL opinion you can find in the bottom:
History:
The history and simple, like the first anime. A young 12-year-old begins his adventure in a world where humans and Pokemon live in harmony. Pretty simple, no?
I think (8/10) is good.
Art:
The art in my opinion is very similar to that of all pokemon animes that I already watched. I did not notice much, however, some effects (mostly 3D) were very well done. I'll take (9/10) here.
Music:
I am a great lover of music, and did not lack good choices. I was happy to keep the original tracks with some remixes. I really liked the piano version of the Lavender Town. (9/10)
Characters:
The character managed to stand out, each with a strong personality. Here there is much to talk about I guess I'll stay in (9/10)
Overall:
Well...
The Pokemon franchise nowadays is no longer the same as before. In fact, is not the same since 1996. But why am I saying this? Well, unfortunately it was not what I expected. Over time, the anime(the FIRST anime) started to get monotonous and somewhat repetitive. Over time, I lost my interest. Recently I watched Pokemon: Black and White, and I can say that I gave at least a 6/10.
In short, it was missing the "glow" over time (I can say the same of the games).
Well, believe or not, I found this anime by chance. All I can say, in a way, watching this was a real thrill from beginning to end, not only by making references to the "roots" but also because it is what the Pokemon anime should be from the beginning. If you want my true opinion, this should have been the only Pokemon anime ever produced. Not only because it does justice to the image, but also because it, like I said, is the way it should be. It shows how a true pokemon trainer should behave, feel the energy. Having a pokemon connected to mind, as if it were a second part of you.
Pokemon was (and still is) an anime that will stay in the hearts of many people. Perhaps you are saying that I'm only exaggerating in the notes and I'm just another fanboy. Well, I am!
Pokemon was one of the animes/games that opened my mind when I was a child to a world called imagination. From other animes and cartoons, will be not only mine, but the preferred (or one of them) of many people. Honestly, it's a shame what the Pokemon franchise became. It was very good what they did here, they brought the magic back, thank you very much!
For a first attempt, I'd say this is a pretty good attempt of a review, which is a good thing since you see so many 'troll' reviews now which are baseless and annoying.
You have the plot basically right, except you start your journey at ten years old, not twelve.
Also, comparing the art style from the first series, origins is about.. A million times better, the newest generations have absolutely revolutionized the art style for Pokemon, comparing Origins to BW is a good idea, since they're almost the same types I think.
The music in Origins is basically the same as in the game; except with the odd remix here and their, and they where also good and enjoyable, taking you back to the days of playing the Pokemon games (I & III)
I think personally, the only 'character' that stands out in origins is Red and Blue, but you get a twist; compared to the original series where Ash is forced to get Pikachu, Red chooses Charmander because of his father which is already a great way for his personal character to develop (Personally, I loved this choice as Charmander is my favourite starter Pokemon)
I personally found this to be one of the best OVA's I've ever watched; it just took me back to being ten playing Pokemon on a Gameboy Advanced.. Those were the 'real' gamer days! haha, but unlike most others, I've enjoyed every season of Pokemon, new and old... I think the change and the adaption is a good thing; but ofcourse you get many who hate all new Pokemon who are 'afraid' to adapt to a new lifestyle because they can't get over Ash never winning ANYTHING and always failing in tournaments (except in Orange Islands and Battle Frontier) I think you done an excellent review. I just felt it would be nice to give you some feedback and maybe it will encourage you to write more and maybe even better reviews in the near-future. Goodluck!
