HOTD just flat out offended too many of my sensibilities for me to find it amusing in any way, shape, or form.
I generally don't go looking for comedy. Most so-called comedies try too hard and end up just failing to amuse me and seldom is it the comedy I take away from a show. Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are two excellent examples. Both are noted for being funny. The funny part is not what I remember and hold dear about them. Neither am I interested in break neck action, especially when it comprises the majority of the show. Even with my beloved Gundam, I skip through many of the fight sequences to get to what I consider the good stuff.
I am not the slightest bit interested in mindless escapism. I LIKE TO THINK. Lighter for me = something like Usagi Drop, Kimi to Boku, or Natsume Yuujinchou.

I don't mind that other people like it or other titles I disdain. I don't think less of anyone for liking them. I am just annoyed that it is being produced to the exclusion of other genres. And, I am sick to fucking death of Moe girls, high schools and elite academy settings and wish the industry would quit trying to shove it down my throat.
Anytime you are interested in finding intelligent, sensitive, inspiring, informative, and enriching anime, I'm happy to help. Otherwise, not so much.
You do know that I wasn't advocating Akikan! and only using it as an example, right. High School of the Dead. Sigh. Yet another one I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. Our tastes are very, very different, indeed.

What is it about those three shows that really appealed to you? What you are must define is their commonalities. What genre/theme aspects to they share?
C3 - I can tell from the art that my odds of liking it are reduced but one cannot judge by art alone. What else can I find out about it. ?
Synopsis: Resistance to curses, mysterious black cube, girl who is the human form of the cube, instrument of torture. Hmmmmm . . . . Fights along side to defeat . . . oh, frak. It's really just another mon/magic servant tournament.
It is recent and it is complete and I can get it through FUNimation.

Rated R+ for violence and profanity
Well, I find very few school/ecchi/romance/comedies. That combined with mindless Shounen Action and I'm not likely to go further. But for your sake, I will.
Reviews: Don't recognize any of the reviewers . . . No, wait. There is Queen_Stars and she gave it 6. Generally split between folks who liked it well enough to give it the respectable l score of 8 and those who really didn't like it at all. Obviously for people with specific taste I don't tend to share.

Well, it reminded 7 other people who took the time to post of Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? Three thought it had some similarity with Dragon Crisis! I didn't like either of those. Nope. Not watching C3.
But let's see what else they come up with:
Ye, Gods. Akikan! sounds like a cookie cut from the same dough with the same cutter. Better go look at it.
Art looks every bit as Moe. Came out last year. Brains Base. Hm, I sometimes like their stuff. Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Romance, Harem. No surprises there. Oh, this one is PG 13 so the ecchi isn't likely to be as over the top. It is also likely to be more childish. Holy Crap! roriconfan gave it a 5! That is an unexpectedly good score for him. Read more of his review. Wow. I'd say give this one a look except for its lack of a dark factor. Others reviewing it didn't bash it too badly.
Looking at other recommends, I see an number mentioned that I actually liked and some that make me scratch my head wondering how they made that connection but oh, well.
If I was into fantasy/harems it would go into my ptw list.
Do you see how working through profile pages, reviews and recommendations can lead you to new and satisfying anime? It is easier for me than it is you simply because I have a broader comparison base but the process is still the same.

Badasses, comedy, and romance. Remember, my ratings are just that, MY ratings. Our taste in anime differs greatly. My giving it a low rating doesn't mean I don't think you might enjoy it. It is also likely you will find some of my 10's, 9's and 8's boring.
I have little time for and less interest in most romantic comedy especially those involving school. Wouldn't touch Kaichou wa Maid Sama or its ilk with a 10 ft pole. But I might have some thing to suggest.
